In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This is just my opinion,as I dont know what constitues fair in the reptile shipping bis.My boyfriend and I specifically ordered a female solomon island boa and Ken sent us a male.$100.00for the snake like $50 for shipping.

Ken is pretty good at taking care of any mistakes. Did you contact him and let him know about the snake?

Hey everyone,No e-mails -we called Ken he said he probed it personally and that it was female-we said come-on dude its got obvious claws-he said just ship it back and we'ii fix up your card.

I highlighted part of your quote in red. What exactly does it mean?

Having bred boas for most of my adult life The "Claws" as you call them are spurs and its not a accurate way to sex a snake be it boa, python, or colubrid. Ken is a stand up guy and as he is the guy that handles all the shipping at Exotic pets I would say he did personally probe the animal. I suggest that you find a competent person that is skilled in probing snakes and have the snake probed. Then if you are still not satisfied, send the snake back to Ken he said he would take care of it. I will say it again Spurs can be seen on both males and females and size doesn't matter either because the spurs can get a new layer every time the snake sheds.

So you started a bad guy thread when he agreed to refund your money, or did you start this before you even confronted him about it? Also, answer my question in my last post.

This is why I highlighted part of the Op's post, because I want to see what they say. Spurs mean nothing. It appears to me that we have a very inexperience person here, and I would also guess, very young.

I just let Ken know about this thread. It would have been nice if the OP had. He is busy now, but said he will check the thread when he can.

This was candoia paulsoni-I suggest you visit Jerry Conways Candoia page,NO CANDOIA females have "spurs" claws is also more accurate term IMO.Dumerals boas and many others can also be sexed this way .look it up

Wow talk about Jumping the Gun!
Spurs come on man are ya kiddin me!
Their are snakes that Probe or pop easy and their are snakes that are iffy
so how could you define male or female by the size of Claws
Ken is a Totally cool guy and I think this was totally uncalled for!

I went to Jerry's page like she said. It is below in blue.

Sexing

One of the easiest aspects of Candoia husbandry is the ease of sexing your specimens. There is never a need to probe or pop any Candoia species. To sex any specimen, just look for spurs or absence of spurs on either side of the vent. Male Candoia of all species have very large hooks for spurs. Females have no spurs at all. It is very easy to see provided you are looking in the correct place. All male Candoia are smaller than females. It is especially noticeable in Paulsoni, where most males are dwarfed by females that may be 10 times larger and heavier.

I forgot to say, I have not worked with this species. I have worked with a lot of boas over the years. So we will have to wait for Ken to comment.

Also, to the OP, did you start this thread before contacting him to let him know there was a problem?

Sounds like the OP was right.
