No, it certainly doesn't make you less of a person....just less of a surgeon. If you're working in fast food, it's reasonably safe to assume that you don't have a educational background in veterinary medicine. Therefore, you probably don't have the slightest clue of the anatomy (nerves, blood vessels, etc) that you're hacking through while making these snakes safer for keepers who are too lazy to develop the skills and responsibility needed to work with unaltered animals. Of course, you also wouldn't have access to an autoclave to sterilize your surgical equipment, antibiotics, analgesics or isoflourane.
...but why sweat the small stuff, huh?

Just a thought Kevin appears to be having a lot of people jumping him in e-mail and other forums and wants to blame the high visability people who disagree with him.
Perhaps though his enemies are a little closer to home then he would suspect. He has brought a great deal of open publicity to the Venomoid issue an issue that many people who make these mutilated animals and sell them would probably care NOT to have brought in to the light. Bringing issues up that affect there business and possibly have legal ramifications against them and monetary loss to them would be incentive to really dislike the person who brings it so openly out in the publics eye's.

Ken...Your rebuttals to even the silly sandbucket attacks do not help your cause any. They just make you look even more foolish. Both of you people have proven to anyone who can think for themselves, that you aren't worthy of anyone's business in any degree. It is not clear who is at fault for the death of these snakes or even really if they are indeed dead. But what is clear is that both involved parties should be avoided by anyone who prefers not to be involved in scandal. Once again, if he didn't get a necropsy done on every "dead" snake showing exact cause of death and time of death and can't prove that any dead snake he produces for the court is indeed one that was shipped by you, then he has no case. Let it drop. He failed to document the events as they unfolded properly and that is his fault. Some people are trusting and trust worthy and in most cases like this people can work these things out fairly easily...but here we have 2 shadey characters locking horns and no way for an outsider to tell who is right and who is wrong...so...the accuser MUST prove his case. If he can't ...sorry, no case. Maybe the bad guy here is going to get off easy due to poor documentation and lack of necropsy...maybe not...maybe the bad guy here is getting scammed by a badder guy....who knows? Justice does not just happen because it should. It happens when involved parties produce proper proof as evidence.

Hello all. This is my first time gracing the BOI. My name is James. I was unfortuanly previously employed by Ken along with my fiance Anja. We had the covers thrown over our heads during the time of employment with Elite. We backed Ken on other situations thinking we were in the right to trust him. But we now know better. I would have posted this sooner but we have just gotten settled in here in Arkansas and our internet up. On the date 11/24/03 we were no longer affiliated with Elite Reptile. We were told the reasons were that Ken no longer wanted to continue in the business, and thatwe werent bringing in enough money to cover payroll, but that is kind of hard to do considering we were not allowed to buy any resale animals he insisted we start buying future breeders. Ken proceeded to lie to us and tell us that we would still be paid and be employed b/c of the fact that he is to scared of people in person. After we left his house (still supposedly employed) we went home to find an email stating that we were dismissed from the business to cut costs. So as you can see he seems to enjoy being dishonest and to lie. All of those venomous animals (which ken had NO experience with WHATSOEVER!!) were not cared for at all after we were dismissed. Mardi stated they had no water, and that some of the duck tape we had put on the cages for transport over to kens house on 11/20/03, looked as if they had never been opened. When Ken posted the ad, we did email him to let him know some of the things he had posted for sale he did not have. As for the Black Mamba in question, that is her, she was every bit of 5-6FT, and CBB01. Ken never saw this animal in person when she was at our house other than her head sticking out of her hide box. So far Ken has done nothing but burn his bridges, our car is damaged due to his sons wreckless driving and backing into our car, which Ken stated he would pay for, that happened on 10/12/03, and the vehicle was never taken care of except for things WE paid for and were not reimbursed for. While his animals were being housed at our house they racked up a $500+ electric bill, which has never been reimbursed to us. He did state we had cages belonging to him in our possession which should "cover it all". We have 5 old, used 2ft Neodesha cages worth about $30 each that we had borrowed from Ken. He thought we should call it all even with the cages. The car damage alone was $1250.
Ken basically cost us everything. We lost our house, income, most of our animals, and some pride as well. This coming from a man who called us family. We have learned a very hard lesson.
Kevin, I would say that you will more than likely not be reimbursed for your losses. For that I am sorry that I could not help to prevent that. But myself and Anja have had no way to contact people or keep up to date with these things on the net until today.
I would like to stated that I dont believe that any of our customers that were gathered for Elite were unhappy with the animals that were provided to them "FROM US" being myself and Anja, not Ken. We tried very hard to overcome the bad name Ken had gotten for Elite before we came on board. Myself and Anja pride ourselves in our animals and the animals we provide people. I know this makes me sound like I am trying to proclam myslef as perfect which I know im not but thats how I have always handled this business for the simple fact that I love doing it. And I enjoy it when I sell an animal to an indivdual and make them happy with what they have recieved.
As for Ken, my own opinion is "do not do business with this man". He is a scam and in it for the money. This industry has been black balled enough by people of his nature. I only wish I knew this before. We knew nothing of his true expeditions in the criminal side of his businesses until after departing from Elite and South Carolina.

Does Mardi Snipes still live in Florida and own Coastal Reptiles? Did he drive all the way to Greenville SC to bag these snakes? Did I miss something or what? We lived in SC for a short time and know quite a few people there who know of Kenneth. Ken you are wrong - sorry - but you are wrong!! How do you sleep at night? With a gun under your pillow?! (I bet) Do you know Steve Bennett and Wade Kowanoski? Do you know Leroy Adams? Do you know Ricky Walters? Ken you owe Kevin money or snakes plain and simple! After this last thread I read from one of your previous employees (yes I am sure he is upset with you and you will come up with some lame excuse as to why you let them go) I am most definetly believing Kevin's side of the story and agree with everyone that you are wrong! WRONG!
TO Kevin - You definetly need to take legal action with this deal. If you need any help, I will drive to SC and file the papers for you! I know my way around Greenville very well.
Ken the reason that you are in the wrong is because nobody would pay that kind of money for dead snakes. The customer should be able to open their package and recieve a healthy live animal for their purchase. Your not selling them a dead snake - you are selling them a live snake - He is entitled to his money back or replace the animals with live healthy animals.

this is the second and third emails and I have all of them. I did let them go the day after james speaks of and yes most of the discussions was via email and phone
We got our electric bill today, almost $500 for the period of time we were housing the Elite animals. I'm sure we will have to move out of state since there are really no jobs here for us. We will give Jennie plenty of notice but I don't even know how we will pay rent next month much less the care deposit now. I had completely forgotten about the deposit. We are selling all of our personal collection animals now just to take care of bills at this time which I'm sure where will be where the rent money will come from.
Its pretty ironic that we got David that job and now he has a job and we don't. We sacrificed everything for Elite. Oh well life goes on right? Good luck with your future endeavors.
I also NEED to get my car repaired as soon as possible. You had said you would take care of it. Just wondering if your still planning on doing so.

They had a lease. the lease was completely sperate than my company and they did me a FAVOR to house the nens at their home for a few weeks and we all figured at 1000.00 a week what is a littke power bill

truthfully, the house as far as nasty it ranks in the top 10 out of all the rentals i have. 26 bags of constructions size garbage bags. anyone need to see pictures. i place the trash out for pick up this friday and can do that?

They did a Great job, seriously. they only got lazy the last month or so and i had to let them go

So I guess you dont want us working for you afterall. Well, sucks but oh well. Anyway, I just wanted to know, please tell me that we arent going to be kicked out of our house because all this didnt work out? We have already lost enough. Now we have to try and find jobs. I wish things could have ended better, but they didnt. Please respond to this and let me know. We arent going to pester you about anything. It seems you wont this relatioinship over period. So myself and AJ will let it be as that. We arent going to black ball your name or anything of that nature. Just dont take the house. Anyway, after you respond if you do, we will leave you be. this is the second and third emails and I have all of them. I did let them go the day after james speaks of and yes most of the discussions was via email and phone
We got our electric bill today, almost $500 for the period of time we were housing the Elite animals. I'm sure we will have to move out of state since there are really no jobs here for us. We will give Jennie plenty of notice but I don't even know how we will pay rent next month much less the care deposit now. I had completely forgotten about the deposit. We are selling all of our personal collection animals now just to take care of bills at this time which I'm sure where will be where the rent money will come from.
Its pretty ironic that we got David that job and now he has a job and we don't. We sacrificed everything for Elite. Oh well life goes on right? Good luck with your future endeavors.
I also NEED to get my car repaired as soon as possible. You had said you would take care of it. Just wondering if your still planning on doing so.
