Yep, my post on page 3 is gone now....

It was up for a very long time too!!! They didn't erase it until I mentioned it here, so that means they do browse this forum.

I was going to say something pretty sarcastic, but decided otherwise. So here goes,

Unfortunately, everyone pretty much already knows that the kingsnake moderators tip toe around this site - time and time again it's been proven.

I assume no one told you that the best way to keep one of them [moderators] from tracking down a discussion like this one too quickly is to not have people tell everyone else about it in what amounts to blazing red flashing strobe lights by posting it on the kingsnake forums. People posting messages there telling others to go to fauna's leo forum blah blah blah. Doesn't take much of a private investigator to figure that one out let alone their mods.

Also, it likely did not occur to you (and lord knows who else involved in the whole fight) that you might be marked as a troublemaker and that ya'll may be under surveilence to see what you might post next over there. Hiding a message on an old page doesn't do much good at all when there is a search function on the forums to bring up previously read discussions that have new posts added since the last time the forum was logged into.

Umm.. There was no hiding. He had posted it as a normal thread. He was simply pointing out the fact that the mods had deleted other posts like it, yet there it was - and it had never been deleted.

At least Wyvern sounds like he/she is willing to listen...however, unless I have the wrong impression, this "feedback form" is probably just another email thing, where there isn't group discussion. I hope I'm not being "pacified" but it looks like there's some hope here.

It's a form to fill out that gets emailed to one of the higher ups in the ladder (not the regular mods). A long while back when the old forums were still being used they did have an actual forum for people to post to for that kind of stuff. Unfortunately, people couldn't even follow the rules there either and it turned into big waste of time for those who really wanted some serious discussion going on as there were too many people going nuts, trolling, attacks flying, people getting banned and coming back under different names to cause trouble again and all kinds of crap (mostly I think it happened around the time when the field collecting forum went nuclear). The mods called the experiement a failure and shut it flat down (along with the field forum too if memory serves me correctly). Last time I asked if they were going to bring the feedback forum back the answer I got was no. Instead we are now stuck with an email form because like the leo forum some rotten apples ruined what could have been a good/useful thing for everyone else.

I would consider saying that he posted the message to a random thread on page 3 rather than on page 1 does constitute "hiding it". But irregardless of that, under the conditions that the leo forum is being subjected to, they probably have more than one person if not several attempting to keep an eye on it looking for trouble. If one mod missed it whose to say another one coming on shift didn't catch it later? All any one has to do is log in and hit today's posts and you get a list of all discussions from the entire forum (not just page 1) that have new messages added to them on that day! The post may not have gotten yanked within the same time span as some of the other stuff occuring on page 1 of the forum, but it did get yanked the same day he posted it.

So the leopard gecko forum over at kingsnake.com got blitzed with bannings, eh??? How many forums is that over there now that have gone through this? And everyone believes it is just some temporary anomaly and not the true colors showing through. Why bother even going over there??? All you get to see is what the mods allow you to see because they have decided to not delete it. Or you can see stuff posted by the people only who have not been banned by Jeffie for one reason or another. Or postings no longer made by people who have decided to leave there because of the above. So what is left to read?

I don't go there. At all. I am not going to allow my visits to be counted on some advertisers banner ad and have my views count for anything Jeffie can use to sell his advertising. If there is something I need to buy, I will buy it elsewhere or do without. If there is some information I need to know, I will find it somewhere else or do without.

This is apparently the way Jeffie wants to run his site, so let him. Let him and his moderators have the entire site all to themselves to play with. They are already tellins us all that we don't count. We have no voice, no say, no means to object or complain in a realistic manner. To argue means to get banned. The mods and the owner (especially the owner) are always right, and you had just better accept it that way. My way or the highway.

So I choose the highway.

regarding that feedback forum

That feedback forum was started by the moderators because the amount of dissention on various forums, especially the field collecting forum, was so great that they could not keep up with all the deleting. So they asked everyone to share their feelings over on the feedback forum and then they pissed everyone off there too because they started censoring that.

In my opinion the feedback forum was a ruse that they used to snare all the people that were willing to express displeasure with their moderation. I don't know of a single person that used that forum that is still allowed to post on KS. It did degenerate into a pretty low-level discussion with stupid insults and trolling, but it only became that way after KS moderators made it clear they were not interested in hearing opinions even on that forum that were different from Jeff's. They begged people to express themselves on that forum instead of battling it out on other forums and most people complied. Then they started deleting all dissenting views there too. They proved themselves unable to engage in honorable and adult conversation. And don't forget that a huge rucus started after they got mad at Gerry for doing nothing other than criticizing the new layout they were looking at for the forums. They asked him to test it and he wrote out what he didn't like in one of the forums and they banned him!

The moderators are going to act in a manner that reflects the whims of the head-honcho and that person is Jeff. As long as Jeff remains paranoid and insecure then that will be reflected by the moderators also. I must say though that I am somewhat surprised that he can keep moderators. It's hard for me to imagine anybody that is able to think for themselves going along with that kind of censorship and arbitrary enforcement for very long at all. I wonder if they have been promised something in the future to make them hang out with him this long.

Sorry if it's overkill.. I just now got back to reading this one, what with the newest post popping up...

When he originally posted his thread over there on KS, it was on page 1. KS is very different from Fauna. On KS, when you reply to a thread, it does NOT move to the top. It stays where it is. As more new threads are started, it moves further and further down the line. It never goes back to the top. You can not purposely post a thread straight to the 3rd page. Posts end up on the 3rd page normally after a couple of weeks or more, depending on the traffic.

In other words, his post was there, unhidden, on the FRONT page for quite a while, and the mods never touched it. The fact that it was all the way to the 3rd page by the time he posted on here meant that it had gone for a very long time being on KS and ignored, while other posts that were all right around it were being deleted.

He was not hiding it. It was on the 3rd page because it was OLD and been around for a while. You cannot post directly to an OLD page.

Oh my god yes, they are totally out of control and live outside of the constitution of the United States guranteeing freedom of speech. Very much out to lunch and will find with time that the Taliban did not get away with this kinda of censorship, why should they?

IF their lawsuit against the founder of this site wasn't ridiculous enough, now they have gone to selective CENSORSHIP! Its really ridiculous and deserves all of the herp communities attention. Recently an accomplished leopard gecko breeder produced a couple of animals that were EXTREMELY RARE. He posted them for the benefit of his fellow enthusiasts. The result . His posts were DELETED by the vary CORPORATION that hosts his site not to mention runs his classified ads consistently. AT HIS COST MIND YOU!!!!!! Not only is this Biased Bad business practices its down right unethical! Think about it. Being a logical thinking person I can only conclude that one of two things caused this. Either Garrick so threatened a really close partner or business associate of Kingsnake.com by his new Morphs or they themselves have a underlying interest in the leopard gecko market somehow. I can't figure it out. I think everyone should demand Kingsnake answer for their actions!!! All in Favor Say I !!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah and another thing. The Guy running this site deserves our respect and Support! He doesn't let success go to his HEAD!!!

funny how people like to decry in a grossly inaccurate manner unfair censorship and their rights of free speech being trampled on. You got caught breaking their rules and got punished for it then come to fauna to complain how unfair they are to you.

methinks you need to go back to school and relearn what you should have learned in a basic civics class. The "right of free speech" is the right to speak without censorship or restraint by the government. Last time I checked, KS, fauna, or even other websites where people tend to congregate in general is/are not the government. The first admendment does not mean you get a free pass to go to someone's website say whatever you want and do whatever you want without expecting any repercussions for your actions.
