    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

KS does it AGAIN

I got one of those emails today also. Kind of sucks, but hey, what can one do? I'm just going to have to keep track better about how many ads I have posted.
 
If fauna was able to provide the coverage and exposure that KS did then I would imagine that the classifieds here would be going like crazy, but quite frequently it goes 2 or 3 days without seeing more then a dozen new posts.

I am getting the people here. Every day this site gets at least 3,000 UNIQUE visitor IPs. Lately there have been at least 100 active users on during most of the day, even during normally slow weekends. I am not saying that compares to the *other* site, but we are growing continually and steadily. How long has FaunaClassifieds been online? Less than 3 years. Look at the membership count and watch it click upwards every day. In less than a year we have TRIPLED the number of registered members here.

At the bottom of the main page, click on the link that says "Currently Active Users:" and look at what the people visiting here are looking at. Many are browsing the BOI, of course, but the rest of them are browsing the classifieds sections. (The discussion forums are still invisible) What are you offering them to look at in those classifieds sections?

People go to classifieds sections to see what is there. If they find what they are looking for, they will likely buy. I am bringing the people here to look. YOU have to give them something to look at in those classifieds sections. I am paying money out of my pocket for traffic in order to get those views to those ads. Instead of pocketing that fortune I am making in banner ad sales (LOL!! That's a JOKE, son!), I am putting the money right back into getting more traffic here.

I mean, come on! People will see an ad elsewhere, then come here to the BOI to check out that person. Do you really think they don't check the classifieds here too? If they see your ads here as well...... Well you figure it out.

The only thing stopping the classifieds here from getting more frequently traveled is, well, YOU. If you don't post the ads here, then don't complain about the catch-22 situation.

Post the ads. People will come. People will buy. I'm DOING my part.

Yup. First add I posted in the reptile section of the classifieds I got a sale. Only one so far but hey, it's a start. Plus I'm a new business so that doesn't help..lol
 
Webslave i have no complaints with ANYTHING

here i post here when i post in any classifieds . When i post ads i post them everywhere at the same time so from me there is no gripes with you site . i stay here more then there anyways as i like the company of people here better . The other people are more well "self cenetered " its there way or no way . So you wont here me have anything negitive to say with the service you provide here plain & simple im happy 100%
 
I have no gripes with you Alan. I was responding to someone else's statement.

I was simply pointing out that people looking for something to buy will go where the ads are. And people wanting to sell stuff want to place ads where the people are going. That only makes sense, but certainly makes for a catch-22.

But it is the people placing the ads that will lead the people, not visa versa. If the sellers are content with the status quo and do not try to break out of the circle, then they will have to live with whatever the status quo becomes tomorrow.

Or put in another way: If you have all your eggs in one basket, pay some attention to who has their hand on the handle of your basket.
 
I look at the ads here everyday, I look on KS too. I have not bought from KS but I have bought from here several times. It is rather difficult when the selection is so few. I do see people from this site posting ads on KS and do not post here. Why?
 
oh and as an after thought, I simply will not buy or even look at an ad that is in fauna but has a link to the pic on pethobbist.
That to me is just plain rude.
 
The TOS is BS...

I just looked at Kingsnake.com's boa ad section and noticed that Jon's Jungle has 6 ads posted in succession dated 12-08-03. He must not have received and e-mail from "The Pet Hobbyist Team". And people wonder why they feel that kingsnake.com is playing favorites? What a bunch of crap. I hope that site dies a slow painful death.

ok well i have to ask why Jons jungle didnt get the same email we all did ? i was prevented last week from editing a post and therefore it resulted in me not being able to post "3ads per day" becasue when i deleted the ad to make it right it counted against my s ads a day .Now with that all my adds were posted in concession to each other and no intentions of "bumping it up as it would have been at the top regardless. Jons jungle now has 6 adds in a row in the boa classifieds . i think that this a a direct TOS violation and i know i myself have reported his many TOS violations in the past 3-4 weeks of multiple postings. . I think in order to be fair across the board he should have some action taken against his blatent violations of your TOS as it seems after 1-2 deletions and emails from KS he would understand he has violated them and would stop .

is the email i sent them via there report abuse email.Its awful funny that he has been a repeat offender in the TOS violation in there ads posting campaign. Also i find it funny with his recent glass house promises here of sending someone the kimberly rock monitors that as yet i dont think he has shipped of the reciever surley hasent posted he has ..
I think they deffinately have issues with how they handle there TOS as if the only read there TOS and follow them to whom they think wont mind . what a shame :blowup:

I realize you got "caught" by not being allowed to post your deleted ad, but, that's not Jon's business either??.... With the email you sent KS, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they cancel your advertising rights.... Jeff HATES people complaining about things that don't concern them....
Look, I'm not trying to berate you and I do think you're a nice guy and have a legitimate gripe about your OWN ads, but if you continue harrassing them about other people, you will kick yourself in the teeth when they cancel you.... I know this from EXPERIENCE.... about 4 years ago, I complained about the same thing.... Jeff kicked me off immediately and it took me 6 months of politely asking and basically kissing his feet to get back on.... WITH the proviso that I never complain about anybody again.... Now, I DON'T.... I mind my own business and if I see someone that is violating the BOI.... I DON'T CARE, it's NONE of my business....
Just take a step back.... start breathing again, and let it go....

Just a suggestion, mind you.... you do what you think you have to....

I consider it MY BUISNESS when it it turn has effect on MY BUISNESS when in regards to be able to post what i PAID FOR do you understand that ? and nowhere in there TOS did it say that because you pay more for a
banner " gif "in your ad that you can do as you damn well please.
Am i the KS police not on your life Neil but i was doing as there site allow .. see that thing in the upper corner that says REPORT ABUSE? thats what i did all well within the rights by there TOS rules now is it not . Now as to the i got caught .. well i DIDNT GET CAUGHT i was not allowed to post 3 ads regardless of what was the cause .. now yes i had ads deleted before because of what they called a TOS violation BUT they could not show me any violation of there TOS Now i would have to say if there Gustapo moderators did there job fairly and evenly there would be no need to report abuse but as of now he still has 6 ads showing and in there "email to account holders" they SAID they wouldnt aloow it ? so what does that say ? they only apply those damn rules to who they fell needs it ? or to who pays less ? i dont know but i do know it isnt fair to me or ANYONE else who is axed for the same TOS violation. am i m ad aboutthis why yes i am Do i care if you care .. not really its all about being fair , and pricipal to me Neil so if you cant understand that then i am truely sorry & after You of all people were given a FAIR shake here i would think you would understand when someone has a problem with people being unfair .. guess i was wrong .. * shrug* o well have a good one

What you did for me was very nice, and that's what friend's SHOULD do.... but, if you want to get technical.... the KS TOS does say that you are allowed to POST 3 ads per category per day.... it does NOT say that you are allowed 3 ads to be SHOWING per day.... you posted 3 ads, then you deleted one of them (for whatever reason).... so, in essence, you DID "post" 3 ads for that day.... don't you see that??.... They did everything you paid for??.... With the new policy that was JUST put in place, that's the ONLY reason you weren't able to RE-post your editted ad??.... That policy made it better for ALL of us??
Sorry, man.... but, I think IN THIS CASE, you're wrong to be upset....

ok lets look at there TOS for classified account holders and then i think everyone can determine how many classifieds account holders have violated these at more then one time or another .
You may NOT post advertisements for other businesses or individuals, regardless of whether they are friends or family members. This account is established in the name of a SINGLE ENTITY. If more than one person is found to be using a single account without prior permission, that account will be IMMEDIATELY TERMINATED with no notice or warning. If a person OTHER than the one listed in the registration form is found using the account the account will be terminated. Anyone found violating this rule is committing Theft of Service and may be prosecuted as such.

Now we have ALL seen posts of this nature where the ad states " im selling this for a friend that is moving etc...."

Multiple posts - You may post up to 3 ads per day per section, but ONLY IF your post contains a picture of the animal or the product you are selling. You CANNOT post the same picture in all three ads, nor can you post your logo or banner in lieu of a picture, nor can you just post a link to a picture. If you have no picture of the animals or products you wish to sell then you will have to place all your items in one ad

Also in lieu of posting without a product for sale and just a link to "see my page " that is also done with out any recourse to the poster there are ads running today with just a topics blahblahblah for sale with no picture or no desrciption other then please see my website for details ... VIOLATION OF TOS

Broken Images - If an advertisement you post has broken images inside and it is reported to us it will be removed. Please check your ads once posted to verify that your images work, If not, please remove them and try again.

now this is what i attmpted to do but could not do so if i had left it it would have been axed so i tried to do what there TOS stated to do but couldnt due to the newley implicated actions ... can you understand this ? i did what was asked but couldnt do it ?

If you have an ad that has 100 animals on it and it's in the gecko section, all the animals listed have to be geckos. An ad that has a boa, a gecko, and a frog in it, cannot be posted in multiple sections.

I may be wrong but didnt the person that never received their Kimberly Rock Monitors contatc KS about this ? and while he even stated here that " they were on the way " two weeks later the buyer stated he had still not got those yet ?

And yes Greg H i saw they have sinced removed the 3 ads posted by Jons *kudos * to them .. but why since there new implication of three ads was he even allowed to post them to begin with ?

Well.... I don't know this for a fact, but, isn't it possible that he bought and paid for TWO separate accounts??.... I don't even know if that's allowed, but, it's certainly a possibility??.... How else COULD he post 6 ads with the new system in place.... He's not THAT big of a dealer to merit special consideration, and I really don't think Jeff would give him that permission in any case??.... But, even if he DID do it "on the sly" somehow.... so what??.... you're still getting what YOU paid for??.... Why worry about everyone else, don't you have enough to worry about in your own life (like the rest of us??)....
I guess I'm just saying you've got to learn to pick your fights.... this one just isn't worth it??.... You COULD end up with dire circumstances for nothing??.... I still think you should just let it go and let him post 20 ads per category per day, if he can get away with it....

maybe i should not have taken the time to worry about what was going between you & Dave either but none the less i did i have a thing its called morals .. when someone isnt treated fair i like to stand up for what is right & fair ... i guess this whole BOI with your thinking isnt worth the time then huh? i mean if we should all just mind our own buisness what is the need of the BOI when people are wronged by someone why take the time to point it out , let them find out on there own right ... But it always seems when it the person thats is wronged they want help uhm wasnt it you that asked me to get into YOUR buisness and that battle didnt have any significance to me ? other then to find out some truths maybe i should have let that email just have got sent to the delted file and it never would have gone as far as it did huh ... *shrug* but your right who cares ...
Neil im not mad at you i just think your way of thinking here kinda just points towards something that says if it aint you needing help or wronged mind your own buisness that would also include the others you have asked to get into your buisness when you were trying to have your name reinstated by askingthem to " get involved" sorry if this comes across as harsh or brash but i just dont get the selective way of thinking of defending whats right or wrong .
 
ALLEN, lets assume the worst case

scenereo and Kingsnake terminates your account. What have you achieved ? You would think that they would notify you and say "thanks for bringing this to our attention", but we both know that , this would not happen. You may be taking this on a personal level that really does not involve you even though you are correct. I seriously doubt that their are elements working on Jons behalf at Kingsnake to allow him to get away with this. It does not make sense.

I am sure its not the notification that may cause you some problems but the manner in which you provide that notification , that may need to be toned down. Neil may very well be correct in giving you some friendly advise in not beating a dead horse to death. Its Jons problem and I am sure he has been notified. I would not like to see his difficulties spill over onto you. The last thing you need is to be banned from Kingsnake because someone else did not adhere to a TOS!

Insofar as Jon not coming through with his order, I think that maybe its time for the party involved to keep the thread alive, continue to notify Kingsnake and the BOI, and possibly get an attorney if necessary. I am very surprised over this, as I know Jon, and its not like him to keep people hanging, but who knows.
