In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Really? This whole thread is about a fraud playing everybody. But in chat more than 1 person who are regulars in chat, and on the boards claimed to be hanging out with Lena, and one person even claimed to be her cousin.
If "Lena" is a fake then I guess it would make the others fake as well.

Most of the relationships forged in the chat room here are the work of LONG term communication. Many of them also have had business transactions that contributed to real world trust. I have dealt with a few people in the chat room, either buying or selling. They trust me and I trust them. They in turn have done business with others who they then form a bond with. If one of those that I have worked with vouches for someone because they have done business with them, or know them personally, it is easier to work that new person into my web. I have been going to the chat room since 2002, with only a couple of people that still remain now. I trust many people that go there because they have gained my trust either directly through transaction, or indirectly through transactions with my friends.
Lena is not the only one who has come into the picture in the recent past and welcomed into the crowd without any kind of reputation. Somehow (and this is beyond me) she managed to make herself part of a family. That never sat well with me, and I feel the same with the whole batch of newbies (although in time I can grow to "know and trust" them, it doesn't happen because they are hot or cool), no offense to them.
I would be hurt if one of the people I have formed bonds with were to somehow screw me over. I can't say that I would not look at it and say "I should have seen that coming", but we make the choice to let our guard down. I am shocked at what little it takes for some people to let others in.
Lena lied. That speaks to her character. Has she tried to get anything from anyone using her lies? Not that it makes it any better, but other than hurt feelings, what were the outcomes of her untruths? I could say that I ate a banana for lunch, and unless someone catches me in the lie, does it hurt anyone? When someone finds out I lied, does it hurt them if I didn't use the lie for personal gain and they are out something? Sure, I would be labeled a liar, and you may not want to do business with me, but would that be grounds for a BOI post? Are we posting every lie low?

Dave... this was more than a Lie.... it was Identity theft... in a round about way. She took the photos of Morgan and said they were her. She got these photos because she was on Morgan's friends list... and thus also has other info available to her... like wall posts and news updates.

Yeah, but Dave is just saying that it wasn't done for profit or anything. The person just "stole an identity" for the sake of deception.
The person is obviously sick, and craving attention. I'd bet money that she ( if she's even a she ) is enjoying the hell out of even this thread.

Admittedly, I was wondering if you were referring to me... a member repeatedly made comments in chat about rules against people having more account, and (when I finally acknowledged the situation) I agreed that it was more than likely that juniperbreeze was Lena. When asked if anything was going to be done about it, I said no...at least not until she started posting on the site. That, of course, spurred several comments over a period of days about the inconsistent application of the rules.
I found it amusing that some of those comments implied favoritism, because I was definitely not a fan of Lena's...and I think that was common knowledge. Hell, how many times did Lena ask if I liked her...or if she annoyed me? My answers were, without fail - no, and yes, respectively.

An interesting take on it, although I would say she was stealing /something/. Emotional manipulation and faking tragedies to be showered with sympathy is taking advantage of the people who believe you, even if it's not for money or physical goods.
Of course, this is why I am skeptical of all sob stories I run across online. Heck, offline too.
Just commenting because I think it's an interesting case - makes me think of the difference between malingering and münchausen syndrome. The former people are lying about being sick for secondary gain (insurance, disability, whatever). The latter people are lying about being sick because they like the attention. Maybe they aren't cheating a third party out of money, but they still waste a lot of people's time. Still, interesting, if only because it's not the usual kind of liar we see on Fauna

A little advice to a couple people ( take it as you will ): If this situation "hurt your feelings" then you take this chat thing WAY to serious. There are thousands of hobbies you could enjoy that are healthier for your mental sanity.
But that's my two cents. I hope I didn't offend anybody.

This didn't hurt my feelings at all.. but... I have been coming here for 3 years now.. every night.. to chat.. a few of these people, that I have never met, DO mean a lot to me, and I call them "friends". I am aware that they are different then in person friends.. but sometimes, these "chat friends" are there for me when others are not.. Lena was new and tried WAY to hard to make people like her.. as Harald pointed out, she would frequently ask if people liked her.. some of us just ignored the question to not be mean.. but she would persist.. so sometimes she would get "NO", sometimes it was "you're too new".. etc..
So to some degree I do agree with your post.. but on another degree, I don't.. because real friendships/attachments can be made via the internet..
And I have a ton of hobbies.. but I don't drink, so not going to the bar to meet people, and I am not in school, so not meeting people in college.. that leaves.. the internet. LOL
Actually I processed two registrations last night, both using different names, but same IP. One of the names used was "Laura Mims". Since they linked to an account that has been banned from this site, I rejected both registrations. Banned members cannot just register anew to gain access to this site. If it's a permanent ban, then sorry about that, but you made the bed you have to sleep in. If it's a temporary ban, then you have to wait till that time period lapses before you can regain access to this site.

Oops... Yeah, I see that now that I read the whole thread. I just kind of dropped into the middle of this thread when I recognized the name from last night's processing of new registrations.
Anyway, will someone please explain to me why this is on the BOI? Is this a BUSINESS issue or a PERSONAL/SOCIAL issue?

Indirectly that is what I was getting at with my last post. Although the lies speak to the character of the individual, I don't think this is BOI worthy as it is not business related. There was no scamming (although there was "identity theft"). Even though there is a lot of evidence stacked against Lena, other than hurt feelings and misuse of stolen pictures nobody was wronged. I know identity theft is a serious issue. I don't need a lecture on that. However, the parties who had their identities "stolen" should take legal action if they feel that they were wronged. I don't feel it has a place here.

IMO, it was largely a personal issue....however, since Lena/Laura did buy and sell on this site, I was hesitant to remove it.

It is BOI worthy because if this was not revealed , she could have conducted business transactions and who knows what could have happened??? who knows what other tricks she has up her sleeve.
