In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Tonight I went and picked up two "adult female" giant day geckos from this guy. He delivered them in a pillow case, so there was no way to look at them without them getting away or causing a lot of stress on the animals. So when I get home I put them into a glass tank to examine them and find out they are males. I contact him right away(about 3 and a half hours later due to an hour drive) and he kept arguing they were females. I even sent him a picture of my male(which he agreed was a male) and then of one he gave me, which is even more obvious of a male. He refuses to give me any kind of refund or even a trade for two actual females, so I am going to have to get our attorney and settle this in small claims court. I have screen shots of the ad, which says three adult females all over two years of age and about 40 emails between us, both prior to the sale and the conversation tonight. Does anyone else have any input as to what I need to have ready, or just any other thoughts on this matter.
Thanks, Jake

Jacob,

Posting the screenshot of the ad and photos of the two geckos would help make your case here. Then inform the seller of the thread and hopefully a little peer pressure will help.

I hope he comes here to reply to this thread. He is still running that same ad...
Here's a thread here inquiring about him, where he goes into his guarantee.

I'd send an email or call Leonard to notify him of this thread, to see if it can be resolved w/o any legal hassles first.

yeah this was the one time I didnt run a search before I bought something since I have found this site. I already emailed him about this thread. I have tried to resolve this issue before even posting this thread; I asked for a refund and I would ship the animals back at his expense or I would even take two females he has as a trade for these two he gave me tonight. I would prefer the second option so I would still get my females, but I would have to be able to see them this time. The only thing I asked with these deals was that he met me by my house this time, I drove about an hour and 15 to 30 minutes to get within 20 minutes of his house and met him at a gas station.

Its hard to convince people of things that they don't believe, this gecko that he is calling a male is a female, you can visably see this from the pics (no femoral pours)I got them from a breeder that has nine females and one male, they all look like the two that Mr.moore received.I think he needs to do a little research before pointing fingers and calling people (bad guy)on the net.I have 13 baby grandis this year and they all came from female geckos just like those.I think this person does not know what he is talking about and should apologize next spring when his alleged males start laying eggs.

the pores on the "female" I received are just as pronounced as on my male. the only reason they look different is because mine just shed and has some retained shed on his pores. however, they are still clearly visible and the second one's hemipenes are even larger than my male, which Leonard agreed was a male.

Im working on getting the pics of all three of the grandis, but I just wanted to point something out. Leonard just said he got nine females and one male from the breeder, but in his ad he states that they are long term captives(ltc) which would mean they were originally wild caught. Oh, and by the way when you have 12 grandis(the nine females and one male he claims to have plus the two i got from him) it is not very likely to have a 1.11 ratio and then on top of that to only produce 13 offspring from that supposed ratio. My thinking is that there is a much different ratio. A 1.11 group has the potential to put out 22 eggs a month and with the ease of grandis breeding I don't see it likely to have only 13 offspring.

I am not to sure on how to handle this ,so if you would like another female for the elegid male I gave you that is fine,I will meet you in the same place as you inspected and payed for the geckos for a trade.I will not not argue with you anymore about the sex of geckos. As far as the request for a refund and shipping ,to let you ship back to me,will not issue a refund unless I can see that they are the same geckos that are in question and still in good health.I have sent out over one hundred boxes since July and you are the first and only complaint.

How much work can that be? You point your camera at the ass end of a gecko and hit the button on top of the camera. Voila, you now have a photo of a geckos ass.

Anyway, your seller seems more than willing to make right on your complaint so why don't you just bow out of the thread and thank him for the responce and set something up to get the exchange going.

Mr.Moore replied with pics in about two minutes last night when requested,I thought maybe he had another female and he was sexing them wrong .He replied with the same pics as posted on fauna. Not even sure if the one is of my gecko. But as a gecko breeder believe the second pick to be a female.Male grandis have what is almost like very small fingernail that protrudes from the femoral pours, they use it to mark territory.

sorry, I had to go to the store because my camera died and I didnt have any more batteries for it. here is the pic of my male, with the retained shed on the pores:

the larger of the two he sent me, notice no retained shed:

the smaller one, a size comparison to show its not an adult:

the bottom line here is that I paid for two adult females and I got one male and a young potential female, I see small pores, but I am not sure how developed they are supposed to be at this size so it may be a female, just not an adult. I drove an hour and twenty minutes to meet Leonard while he drove around twenty, I think this time we should reverse travel time since it is an error on his part.

I think you need to take pictures of the correct geckos, mine did not have regenerated tails, check out the ad on kingsnake it is still there. But my offer still stands, you can pick up the phone at any time,I have been calling.

I have three grandis, my male and the two you sent me. The larger one is on the back wall of the second picture in your ad, and I dont see a picture of the smaller you described as high yellow, but yes it does have a regrown tail and those are the exact same geckos you sent me. I want both of those traded out for two adult female grandis and I want you to travel closer to my house this time.

I checked your ad. Do you have pictures of all the others that you have?

here is a pic of both together, the one on the right is on the back wall on the second pic in his ad, same marks on nose and same marks on back, the one on the left is not pictured in his ad and he described as high yellow:

the first set of pics are through glass, the second set through plastic,The third on wire?????????I am a little confused, how many sets of geckos do you have???never the less my offer still stands, even if it is not my gecko if it is a male will be more than happy to trade it out for a female,my uncle only has one male in a large breeding group. He will be elated.
