In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I went in to clean today and my 'male' fire was wrapped up around 'his' bowl with that lumpy appearance. I got this guy from a well known breeder in my area when he was about 150 grams. At the time I was not comfortable with popping snakes and since it was labeled and sold as male I never really thought to have it double checked. I can pop and sex hatchlings, but I'm still not very confident in popping the bigger boys.

Do any of your males ever exhibit this behaviour? The snake only weights 800 grams so if it is a girl I don't want her ovulating at this size! Although in my memory this snake has only ever been with my proven female pastel (no lock). I can't remember ever having him in with another male snake. So....I guess I should take it to someone who is good at probing, or put him in with the female pastel a few more times to see if any locks happen.

Cage is 75 at one end and 90 at the other so the snake shouldn't be looking to cool down from normal over heating.

I have noticed my butter doing this several times. He is a proven breeder so i know it's a male. I notice he seems to do it mostly after I seperate him from a female, but I am totally baffled as to why.

Heehee. I hope he's not gay. Not that I'm against that in humans but it would really put a damper in my breeding plans. ;)

My males have done this as well. Can only assume it is not a female only habit, just done for different reasons it would seem.

Maybe he's bowl curious.

Ba-Dum-CHING!

I've seen males and non-gravid females bowl wrapping too. I just have no clue about the lumping. :shrug01: Does "he" seem healthy otherwise? Did your males ever appear to be lumped when wrapped, Jason & Willow?

I think the lumping is just a muscle thing...either how they are tightened around the bowl, or how they just happen to lay when attempting to hug something like that. My males that have bowl wrapped have looked lumpy =)

If he's producing sperm plugs, it'd be easy to pop and see them. The sperm plugs pop out way before the hemipenes. It doesn't take much pressure. I would suggest you try popping him.

:iagree:
thats def. what i would do....

our boys "hug" bowls and caves from time to time too, so nothing to worry IMO
you know ball pythons are a bunch of weirdos and they do all kinds of strange stuff for no reason (just like the people who keep them):D

I guess there isn't much to play with in there! I tried to pop him, but only got some scent gland 'wax'.

found a good pic at google what it should look like:

I don`t know how "hard" you pressed, but if it`s a Male you should at least get to see some Sperm Plugs...

Is your Vet not good with Probes? I know its a unsure thing, but i would give it a try if you can`t pop out plugs or penis...
