In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Marina Zermeno demonstrates poor seller etiquette. I purchased a snake from Marina through PayPal... instead of receiving the snake I received refund without ever being contacted first.

As I waited on her to notify me of shipment, I received a PayPal refund instead. I asked her why and the claim was that the snake bit her and that she was only doing what was in the best interest of her customer, because she claimed it was docile in the ad, she couldn't sell a snake that bites to me.

I told her I didn't mind a snake that bites and that I would love to have it anyway and that I would resend payment. Her next excuse was that the "mister connected to her tank burned out" and it had caught a respiratory infection. She said the snake would "be put back up for sale next week hopefully."

I say, if someone privately offered her more money after my purchase and payment then it would be in a 'customers best interest' to tell the truth.

Not trustworthy.

Thats quiet a big assumption that she got offered more and sold out from under you.

More info on this is needed.....do you have emails from the transaction you can post?

Tho I agree it seems odd and she should have informed you she was sending you a refund, I'm not sure if a Bad Guy thread was really needed....

maybe an info thread...

You are right, the last statement I made is only an assumption. But only a big one to quite gullible individuals.

Perhaps it would have been more kindly of me to make it an info thread. Only, I shared my experience which I feel was negative. Mileage may vary.

I will definately apologize and retract the feedback if someone can offer authentic proof that I am wrong and that the snake is still in her posession and is indeed being treated for an RI. Perhaps the invoice from the trip to the vet she mentioned in our correspondence or a dated photo of the snake?

Received a better offer? Ok. Didn't want to sell me the snake 'cause I look funny? Ok. Changed her mind entirely mid transaction for any reason? Ok.... One just shouldn't beat around the bush in an attempt not to anger someone else, or whatever it may have been.

If I hadn't removed her from facebook I wonder what the next reply would have said...

wow are you serious?
I still have her and i told you that I would get back with you when she's in perfect health! When i said "back up for sale" i meant when shes available to sell again. Which would have been to you. but NOT ANYMORE!
To everyone who has replied to this post. This guy is (sorry for the language) an idiot. why would he pay $170 for a snake with a respiratory infection? If it were to die then it would be on me. I don't sell sick animals and i never will. No one has offered me a higher offer. I haven't even posted it on Fauna anymore. She's on her antibiotics right now. She will not be sold to you now. Get off fauna!! People like you ruin other people's reputations. I could care less though because I have hundreds of people that buy from me.

I agree an informative thread would have been much more suiting. This person has not actually wronged you in any way. ie. stolen money sent you a sick or dead animal. It would also seem that you did not wait for all the information or wait to see next week if she was actually going to offer it up for sale again to you. To many times boi threads get way out of hand when people jump the gun. Would it be wrong if she lied to you well at most it would be bad business practice and uncalled for. People should be honest yes but whose to say she isn't being honest again you really need to wait for all the facts to come in before posting. And number one thing is never purchase an animal even if you know it is sick. Let the person take care of it themselves which she appears to be doing. It can just cause a whole mess of trouble as you can see in other BOI threads when people want to purchase a sick animal then gets worse or even dies. If the vet happened to miss a secondary illness or misdiagnosed it then a lot of people seek further compensation when really it wasn't the sellers fault. Well technicaly it is their fault and the buyers for chancing it with a sick snake.

Thank you revolution1221 for adding me on facebook and letting me know about this post since he wasn't man enough to tell me himself! I have a bad feeling about this guy now. I still have the blood python. Im not the type of person to return payments because I get higher offers. If i was like that I would have had other posts about me (which i don't). I just don't understand why he wants to pay money for a sick snake? I'd rather treat her myself and wait for her to get better. Her antibiotics end next saturday and I was going to let him know that she was ready to ship monday but he ruined his chance. I can't stand people like him. Makes me want to start a boi about him but I won't jump down to his level. I love my animals and will make sure all are in perfect health before selling them.

It would have been simple

To just notify him of the problem when you sent the refund. A moment and a few typed words could have avoided this drama.

Correct....had you taken 5 minutes to contact the OP beforehand and discussed the matter, you surely could have come to an amicable solution. Instead, you unilaterally sent a refund with NO EXPLANATION. I would be suspicious too. This one is on you.

Though it may be a bit presumptuous to assume she got a higher offer, I was curious about that ad from the moment I saw it. I'm no expert on blood pythons or anything, but that doesn't look like a typical blood to me. What do they call those? "Ultra breits"? Is it outside of the realm of possibilities that if she indeed has this snake, someone contacted her about it and informed her of its true value? If the hets (aka granites) sell for around $500 each, then obviously the actual mutation, which is what appears to be pictured in the ad, would sell for way more than $170.

I'm no expert in Blood pythons genetics could have played a roll in the money return, but....

This could have been avoided by shooting him a message (over facebook) which you and him made various back and forth messages. Could have been as simple as " I sent back your money, blah blah is'nt at 100% and I can't risk shipping"

Bam

No boi ;)

To OP I believe you may have jumped the gun a bit eh. She seems rather reasonable, this is not uncommon actually... rather expected nowaday's with the reptile trade things happen, at very least you got your money back I would be extremely grateful for that you could have....

-Been without money and snake looking to get your money back for fraud...

-Been sent a sick snake and been forced to dump more $$ into a snake for vet, and Antibiotics.

Be grateful

sorry this one isn't on me. I work a lot and I don't have time to sit here on fauna or facebook all day to wait for replies. He's just trying to start problems for no reason. If you read the facebook messages he is perfectly fine with me giving him his refund back before notifiying him. He asked why I didn't notify him before hand and I gave him my reason which he understood perfectly. I've posted a picture of the paypal refund which was done at 6:58pm. The facebook message was sent at 7:03. I could not risk messaging him and not giving him his refund till he was okay with it. I did that once and the lady started cussing me out and started accusing me of trying to steal her money (why would i want to go through with that again). I didn't get off till 6 in the morning that day so by the time I would have replied back to him it would have been around 3 in the afternoon. Which would you prefer.....getting a refund and an explanation 5 minutes later or for me to let you know somethings wrong with the snake and no refund or shipment of the snake that day? Wouldn't that have made me look even more suspicious?! I don't see the reason for this posting. Its crazy. He's mad because I gave him a full refund and didn't ship him a sick snake? Isn't that the right thing to do? or should i have took his money and sent him a sick snake? This is ridiculous.

Oh and the first reason to me giving a refund is because she was "not as described". I put on the posting that she was very docile and right now (due to her infection) shes not handable at all. She is very nippy. A refund was needed. I'm thinking that if i would have shipped him the snake and she would have bit him and been sick at the same time he could have turned around and fought for his money back. Either way he was most likely going to post a boi. I know I'm not in the wrong because people have been instant messaging me on facebook to let me know that they are going to make sure not to sell to this guy because of the way he is. I just hate that he had to do it to me for everyone to find out.

Right and wrong should not be determined by popular opinion.
When you do a paypal transaction, isn't there a space for a message there somewhere?

I see your point of view. If you suspected something wrong with the snake as it had always been timid, and wanted to keep it in your possession to figure out what was wrong than that IMO is perfectly okay and you DID message him and let him know. (after he messaged you)

But I bet my bottom dollar it took twice as long to cancel a payment on paypal than it wud have been to shoot him a message prior to cancel payment ;)

Sounds like miscommunication.

When you switched stories of "the snake bit me" to "the snake is sick" it sounded suspicious. I can see how the snake being sick might make it crankier, so it was biting which made you stop the sale(understandable) then you found out that it was biting BECAUSE it's sick. I don't see that you as the seller did anything wrong.

But the communication went slightly awry. You had good reason both to refund instantly - then explain. You had good reason to negate the sale. But the buyer didn't quite get the story correctly and misunderstood. I would have been irked myself if given that sequence of varying explanations too. I doubt I'd start a BOI without further talking though.

To the buyer, stating that you want to buy the snake when it's sick isn't thinking of the best interest of the animal. Shipping a sick animal puts a lot more stress on the animal which could easily turn a slight infection into a full blown RI or even kill the snake. Would you have been happy if the ill snake arrived dead from shipping stess or died a few days later from a massive RI? Or would you insist on your money back?

if you look under the paypal memo. i said issue with snake here is your refund. I do have time for customer service. Obviously I've been doing okay because I don't have other bad posts about me. I've never really had to deal with any customers with concerns. People are always happy about their items. I sent him a refund and messaged him 5 minutes later! He said he still wanted it even though it was nippy. Okay i understand that, but Im NOT selling a snake that isn't in perfect health (which she isn't). I don't see why im being accused of doing something wrong...I sent a refund and not a sick snake.

If you will go back and look at your 1st post in this thread, You called the OP an idiot and told him "to get off fauna". Not exactly the best way to handle this. Maybe you want to rethink your approach. Something like, I'm sorry you feel that way, and maybe we can work something out when the animal is well enough to ship, might have worked better. I don't think you are helping yourself any with the attitude.

Also

In your 2nd post #7 you said he's not man enough to tell you about the thread? Whose true colors are showing now? Maybe you should quit while you are ahead, or at least not too far under.
