    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

If you are looking to give Matt's paypal account a hard time, escalate to a claim with Paypal.. If you are trying to get your money back, you need to make a claim with your CC company.. I recently paid for a snake using Paypal with an instant wire transfer from my bank account.. Long story short, I never received the snake, filed and won a claim with Paypal but they are "sorry they are not responsible" and won't refund my money but will make note of the incident to see if a pattern develops. Paypal just "sounds" safe, far from it.

hello all. pity that my first post has to be in a negative topic, but I was compelled.

paypal is famous for screwing people. in fairness, they seem to screw scammer and scamee with equal frequency, but that still makes them awful. do NOT rely on them to protect you from fraud! ALWAYS pay with a major credit (or debit) card, so that you can benefit from the visa/mc/whatever fraud protection in case paypal decides to screw you.

i had paypal put a hold on several thousand dollars in my account due to *1* fraudulent dispute by a buyer on ebay. I was a verified business member with well over a THOUSAND happy customers through paypal at the time!

They have had countless complaints lodged with the attorney general's office over their arbitrary seizures of small and large sums of cash. visit http://www.paypalsucks.com/ for more information.

To the OP, I am terribly sorry about the deal you've had go sour. I'm glad you paid with a card, and are protected!
 
Although I am not a fan of Matt's as I think he brought these problems upon himself, but this is getting pretty one-sided with him not being able to post. I thought there was an exception made for BOI theads. It doesn't appear that Matt could provide any explanation thought satisfactorily explain these complaints but not hearing his side isn't exactly fair.

There were exceptions made when you had to be a member to post. Not when you have been fined and suspended for violating the rules of this site.

Matt is free to post at any time, he just needs to pay his fine.

i am not worried though my cc comp said they will take care of everything for me if and when i decide to dispute, i still have more than a month to dispute and i refuse to give up on Matt, weather he is deserving of that or not i don't feel that i have the right to judge...
with that being said i will not order through him again just for the mere fact that not only did he say it but he shows that he couldn't care less of his business.
when i hear more from him i will update.

I hope your dispute is resoved to your satisfaction...No one deseves the crap he's pulled...BUT:

Angelina, I think one of the problems is that Matt had a great reputation up until about a year ago. Many members had previously done business with him without any problems. He had some slow shipping issues and a couple of bad guy posts but nothing that would suggest he would be where he is today.

Unfortunately, I don't think you can let everyone know. I've tried by bumping up several threads at a time so others would take notice. It doesn't work and in turn seems to being hurting the goal of informing people. Some might think it unfair and vindictive to do so.

Boy, are you a glutton for punishment!

Dispute the charge now, get your money back, and go buy what you need from someone that cares about their business and will ship your product promptly.
 
I see a lot of ppl are saying to just dispute it or i am asking for trouble and that may be but like i said before i cant just end it that way...it is just not who i am. if i am in a disagreement with another person weather it be any of you, my wife or a stranger on the street, i will try everything to work it out regardless of how deserving they are.

after the last email i got from Matt trying to tell me to close it and i saying i wouldn’t i got this email from him.
in between this i did escalate it with paypal like i said i did a few posts above and they closed the dispute saying they cant do anything about it...
here is his response to me after i told him i would not close it...

Since you cannot seems to abide by the terms you agreed to when you ordered I will be closing the dispute and let paypal handle the problem. It will take about 60 days(they say 30 but dont beleive it) Then after that we can work out the details.. Sorry you couldent be more human!

after this email i got an email from payapl telling me they cant help so i called my cc comp they said i should send the emails in and i would get my money back.
in this email i gave him another chance to resolve it, at this point he must have also got an email from paypal saying the dispute was closed, but that doesnt get him out of being in dispute with my cc comp if I chose to dispute it.
so i send him this email...

The thing is you want it you way and thats it.. I am not in this business for you I am in it for me.. Now that being said I have to do right by you to continue in this business for any length of time. I havent been doing this goin on 5 years screwing people over. I havent picked up your box yet but should have it in my hands tomorrow of the next day. As soon as I have it I will put a wired unit in the same box and ship it.. This is all pending on the paypal complaint. If you want to use your credit card company that is fine I honestly dont care. If you want your thermostat end the complaint, if you want a long drawn out process then we can continue!

the claim is over with paypal and like you said I don't want a long drawn out anything with my company.
like I said when this whole ordeal started I have ordered from you before and have been happy, you responded to my emails and i got what i paid for.
the post office said that if you dont go and accept it it they will send it back to me automatically, so please go and get it asap.
mind you i dont think you will be able to use the same box to fit in a 6 outlet strip in there with the power supply as well.
i will send nothing to my CC comp for now and i just ask that you email me when you get it and when you ship the new unit out.
lets just get this behind us
i expect a tracking # before this week is over for my new unit, do you think that is fair and possible?

so it sounds like he is coming around now and i hope that everything is going to work out.
i will definitely check the unit and inspect it when i get it but i don’t think he will try anything like that...
it is so unfortunate that he has acted this way and i hope after all this that he either closes his business that he does not care about to save other ppl (not likely...) or that he changes his ways and steps it up to the next level, although it will not be easy to get himself out of the hole he dug....

before this we had sent a few emails and had pretty much resolved our differences, of course it isn’t over until I receive everything that I am owed. you can see his attitude changed for the good and had let me know his mother was ill and it was delaying him, and I had wrote back that I hope she is doing ok and what not, hence him thanking me in the beginning of this following email;

I think you should have taken my advice last month. You'd now have your supplies as well as the credit back on your cc. Anyhow, good luck.

Wow...how would you like to be the poor sap who "buys" MG Reptiles? I wonder if he told the guy that he would throw in his bad reputation for free? I'm willing to bet that Matt didn't tell him about his recent problems. :rolleyes:

I wonder if that story is even true. If he sold the biz, why are there so many items on eBay? Anyhow, hopefully the new owner changes the name of the biz ;)
