Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Matthew Oakley

He wasn't quarantined for 1:45 while I was at church. I've never had mites and even if I did in that short amount of time it's not likely an animal gets infested.

It sucks that you've recieved an animal with mites. Since you didn't quarantine the animal I would definately go ahead and spray the other cages in the surrounding area with PAM as these guys can go a very long way to find new homes. I have recieved two snakes in that had mites but I have an extensive quarantine for all incoming reptiles which I'm sure you have learned to do as well through the hard way. In my opinion a lot of lessons have been learned here. take them for what they are worth and move on. I would say either just take the animal for what you paid or if Matt has a problem with that, then tell him to refund your money and send you the extra amount for return shipping plus the money you are out for the PAM and send it back to him. I would say a mite problem is very much worthy of no "up to par" when you take into account that you can have your whole collection infested in a matter of no time and its a pain to get rid of the little pests. Mites can throw off the animals feeding schedule which in turn can throw off an entire breeding schedule. I'm just saying mites aren't something that should be taken lightly.
 
And the comment you made earlier about being a manageable amount of mites, the thing about them is just because it looks like a manageable amount doesn't mean it is because the babies are nearly invisible to the naked eye and the eggs aren't visible so just some things to think about when dealing with mites.
 
Im trying to figure out why matt had him in quarantine if he bred the snake? Am I missing something here??

Once again, a thread that will continue to go on and on with no real resolve.

While it is unfortunate that Patrick recieved an animal in these conditions and has to deal with a mite problem, BOTTOM LINE IS THIS: He had information in hand (the BOI), and made the clear choice to deal with this seller and accept his terms anyway. So under this circumstance I would NORMALLY tell the OP to suck it up and deal with it, he has no one to blame but himself. But since Patrick has already taken partial blame, I say he can just chalk it up as a learning experience and learn from his mistake.

We all expect accountability from the seller but we also must expect it of ourselves as buyers

And as Dustin stated....it may look managable but I could almost guarantee his infested with mite eggs! They are under the snakes scales now & impossible to get out. They will take a month to hatch so, you will have mites next month. This guy needs to be quarantined for at least 2 months.

Like I said, shoot me a message...I'm off from work today. (if you live near Franklin school, I could walk there lol)

I just got off the phone with Matthew. He was very easy to talk to and gave me suggestions on how to cure the snake. I will do what I can at this point to get rid of the mites and post the progress. Other than that this thread is unofficially closed by me.
 
boakid and patrick you guys mis-understand what this boi is all about when you say things like thats why I wouldn't ever make a bad guy thread on someone. The BOI is a VERY usefull tool used to do a background check on a seller before buying an animal. The only reason other members were scrutinizing you in the beginning of this post is because you were saying you don't see any point in posting the emails and text messages when thats not your call. You can't just come onto the BOI accusing someone of something without proof. Just like in real life your innocent until proven guilty and you were originally saying that proof was not needed. Since then you have posted multiple pictures and emails between the two of you and have proved that you in fact did have a bad transaction. Even if you were pre-informed of the bad decision to do business with this guy. Its not anyone elses business that you decided to purchase the snake, you went out on a limb for someone and got burned. The original deal was if the snake had any problems then you don't pay him CASE CLOSED the snake had a problem that could have ultimately spread to your entire collection and may very well have spread to you collection but thats something that you will need to check out.
 
This is all I'm going to say, as per the rules of posting to the BOI "Proof is optional". It blows my mind how many people forced him to post the emails, if he didn't want to he doesn't have to. And just because a person doesn't, acordding to some, they are falsely and prematurely label a lair. The OP just came here to state what happened with his transaction, if you want to believe him, good go ahead. If you don't, such is life.
 
Ok so how about I start a bad guy post on you then or on anyone else on here with not a shred of proof and I'll just go through and ruin someones name without providing any evidence that person did anything wrong. Thats what you are saying is ok to do Jesus.

No one forced him to start this bad-guy thread...and no one forced him to post anything. Those were both choices he made himself. Was he strongly encouraged to post his proof? Certainly...and nothing wrong with that, either. I'll bet the OP of this thread would have been jumping on that "post your proof" bandwagon if the SELLER had jumped here ahead of him and said he tried to rip him off by getting a pricey boa for a $150 deposit and refusing to make any further payments.

You say yourself, "if you want to believe him then do so, and if you don't, then you don't".....well, exactly! But the thing is, people are going to post their opinions on what they believe...that's just human nature. We all want to express ourselves. So if ANYone wants those opinions to more closely match his/her own...then they need to offer up all the proof they have available. If they don't care what anyone else thinks...then it is certainly their prerogative to throw out their accusations and walk away.

All I'm trying to say is theres no point to the BOI if everyone on here makes it a he said she said game and decides proof is not necissary. This i supposed to be a tool for weeding out the bad guys and proof is just more ammo. Just what Judy said I'm sure if you we're the one being accused you would want them to prove it too. This thread is getting way out of hand though. I think this situation has come to a dead end and the OP has had plenty of people giving advice and trying to help out if any more help is needed he can come back on here and post updates but untill then theres no point in people coming on here and adding fuel to the fire saying he didn't have to post proof, thats not what this thread is about.
