The prices of individual rats Kruger posts are believable. I've been in pet stores and I've seen similar prices.
From his actions, he never planned to have your snakes for very long, he planned to flip them immediately. For someone who owns snakes long term, they would likely order f/t from a frozen rodent company at substantial savings, but he is not required to do this.

I think the boarding cost should have been discounted somewhat more for the time he delayed, but Alex, I asked several days ago for you to map out the time during all of this that you thought the delays were due to you, and the time the delays were due to him, and you ignored the request.

Now his offer is on the table and time is ticking against you.

Again, you never made any effort to map out what part of all this delay was yours and what was his.
If you ignore his offer and costs accumulate, he will sell off some of the snakes simply to make up for what he has spent on feeding them.
He is not required to look for a rodent supplier at cheaper prices if his plan was to immediately flip the snakes.
 
Kruger has said he is willing to send all your snakes back in return for a label, with the boarding funds held in escrow by a third party you both agree to. So there is no risk he will get those funds and refuse to send the snakes.
 
Lucille I get what your saying and I understand your position but, is it not plain to see that Mr Kruger is again making sure that his tabled offers are as hard to swallow as he could possibly make them? Where are the receipts for all these "pet store" feeders? This guy has found the highest possible feeder prices he can and proceeded. I agree with you that the ball is in Alex's court but without proof of purchase this comes dangerously close to throwing Alex under the bus. Being unreasonable is a stalling tactic that is very transparent. I predicted this would happen in my earlier posts.
 
Oh yeah and again with the 24hrs. You may have fooled some Kruger but again I'll say, "I see clear through your tactics!". Alex suck it up and make this guy ship your animals back. Everytime it seems as though you may just do that, he has found a way to make it harder. He has the animals so he can throw out as ridiculous a number as he can come with. There's a word for what you are doing man.

Dudley you make good points. At this point, though, it is an actual offer on the table, and the difference between the pet shop price quoted and other local sources may not be as dramatic as the difference between pet store prices and the prices most of us are familiar with from frozen rodent companies.
So while it is possible they are overpriced, conceivably they are accurate, and squabbling about the possible $100 or so difference right now might make the difference between deal and no deal. If one of the snakes really could be sold for $500, then Alex can sell one and make back the boarding fees.

I have no horse in this race. I think Kruger has exhibited some very poor behaviors and has lied. I am only trying to point out that as of this moment the parties are very close to ending this standoff. And in a way that does not risk the funds in question because of third party escrow.
Perhaps Alex should be a little flexible because he initially caused this mess.

Did I miss something here, did Alex not just REJECT the offer with the exorbitant boarding costs, so according to your own rhetoric that is now "off the table" surely?

Never mind the prices being high, the actual AMOUNTS you are claiming you feed them are way off too. No healthy boa needs to be fed 2 rats a week unless you want to end up with just an obese boa!
A healthy adult only needs a rat once every two weeks and juvis only need 1 a week, so even if we leave you inflated prices in their( and even my local Petco charge less than that) you are about double on your costs at least for what they SHOULD have been eating. Maybe you know nothing of boas and just fed them regardless, which assuredly they WILL eat, the point is they did not have to be feed on the schedule you notated at all.
But this is all just subjective, Alex has REJECTED that deal so it is "off the table"

Is he rejecting both here, or is he requesting clarification /proof by saying 'come again'?
If he is looking for proof, Kruger's rodent prices could conceivably be accurate, and he could have conceivably fed the number of rats he claims to have fed.

If he indeed meant a complete rejection of both offers, which he is free to do, without asking for clarification or making a counter offer, then Kruger has shown that he made good offers, can show that conceivably the prices he quotes are accurate, and in general has shown that he has made a reasonable, bona fide offers that were rejected.
Boarding costs will continue to accumulate until the value of the snakes (which Alex says are currently worth $500 to him) are reached.
 
I would have said a fair boarding cost of maybe $150 based on Krugers prices for the time period (if fed correctly) but if you take into account the stalling by BOTH parties during this deal then even that is high.
If Mr Kruger truly fed them as much as he claims he has proven he knew nothing of Boas and should have at least asked for help with regards to feeding before wasting HIS money on over feeding.
I guess we may need clarification on just what Alex completely rejected, my take was he rejected the very high boarding costs but that is just IMHO.
 
I'm still trying to understand if the person wasn't able to do deal with the gun why would he sell some of the boas,, he didn't even quarantine long enough to sell in my opinion..
I'm not seeing what the Bronx boa did wrong except maybe not knowing gun shipping laws, ? Hope he can resolve this loss , I definitely staying clear of krugers critters
 
If you look at Mr krugers face book page you will see he has quite a few snakes. I find it very hard to believe he buys his rats from a high priced chain store. I went to a few sites and got quotes for rats and shipping and none were more then $3.50 per rat. If he is true lyrics a business man like he claims to be why would he spend more then twice as much as he needs to? Especially with at least a few dozen snakes to feed. Alex it's really in your best interest to write out in this thread the exact time kruger has had the snakes and try to put into writing the times withing the time frame that he's had the snakes exactly who cause what delay in completing the deal when so the exact boarding cost can be calculated. If you need help figuring it out I'm sure we can help you here if you just write out a time line for us.

I doubt Mr. Kruger spent anywhere near that amount on those snakes. Period.

I also see Mr. Marrero's point.

I would not send him anything either at this point. Mr. Kruger has lied on this deal. Any trust in him is completely shot.

I see Mr. Marrero's last offer to be completely reasonable. I doubt it will be accepted.

Mr. Kruger gets 1,250 dollars out of this deal. Mr. Marrero gets 500 dollars.

I would warn Mr. Marrero not to remove the money out of paypal right away.

That is going to be more difficult than you envision. Not only is there a substantial cost factor (relative to the value of the transaction) in 'going after him' but,

He will show this thread, and show that you were willing to sell the snakes for $500, and request that be the value.

And the fact is, part of the delay is on you, and he may make a reasonable point that now, after the blanket rejection, it is all on you, so boarding costs will continue to stack up. By the time you get around to the actual 'going after him' it may be months, and you are going to owe more boarding than it is worth whatever value you use.

You've solidly rejected the offers made to you, you are in no position to call any shots, and right now, you are pretty much out of luck.

While I think everyone sympathizes with your current position, from the 'forgetting' of one of the snakes to the current blanket rejection of Kruger's offers, you have some of the responsibility for the ultimate outcome here.

Pricing aside, as an FYI for non-snake or even non-boa people, that is an insanely aggressive feeding schedule.

All of my adult boas are on 1 large or jumbo rat (or a similarly-weighing rabbit, usually 12-16 oz) every 3-4 weeks. Juveniles eat every 10-14 days, and even my early 2015's are still eating a rat fuzzy every 10 days.

^^^^^^^^^What she said. I started buying online after just a few months of snake ownership due to the high pet store prices, and I only had half a dozen snakes.
