    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm sure the chat problem is being caused because of new security routines now running on the server. They closed down all ports they thought should be unused, and didn't know about the ports needed for the chat program. I've asked them to reopen those ports, so chat will be back as soon as they do that.

This crap is getting to be a friggin' pain in the ass....
 
Rich server problems are the worst!! I would rather tear my hair out than work on a server.

I got the database error Steve posted a few times yesterday. I just now kept getting a time-out, and when it finally loaded the top of Fauna said this (attached)

Obviously I'm on and it's fine now, but figured I should post.

One thing I did notice since the upgrades. While I'm at work I used to connect using a program called Hotspot Shield (a VPN suite that keeps my employers from seeing what I'm doing on my laptop while using their wireless network :p), but now when I use it I get a "Bad Gateway" error and my connection is refused. I'm assuming that the server can tell that the IP address that I'm assigned within the VPN isn't a permament one (or something like that, I'm no tech wiz) and refuses the connection as a safety measure. Not complaining, I understand the reason behind it, just frustrating :D
 
Only problem I've had is viewing my UserCP. I usually go there to see if there have been any responses, since I don't get an email notice of new threads started, only when a response is made to an existing thread subscription. Lately I've gotten the DB error sign.

As for your back up problem, have you had your guy look into this?

It's a crone based auto back-up. Was intended for VB4.x.x but apparently some have used it with no issues on 3.x.x Just as an alternative for you.
 
I'm still getting the following when trying clicking my USer CP or trying to open the Home page.

Same here. I get that message when trying to view this site home page or trying to check my PMs

I get the same message when I try to view the "userCP" for myself, and also when I try to view profiles for anyone else. My PM's are not working either. :)
 
Hell, I don't know what is going on. The server has been down most of the morning and database errors popping up all over the place.

I think it's about time for me to just run off screaming into the woods to become an old hermit. Guess I had better figure out how to skin and cook squirrels, because I think they are going to become the main staple of my diet...
 
BTW, seriously, if I get even a hint of database problems showing up, I'm going to lock this site to keep people from getting frustrated when a backup file has to be reloaded again and losing everying from the past 24 hours. The site will just have to stay closed until the server management people can FIX this problem instead of just putting a temporary patch over the symptoms.
