Ok Mr.9 I'll address the tarheel reptile thing.... You call him my friend. I had 1 transaction with the guy over a yr ago, it went very well.I saw that thread david started & chimed in early on in it b4 I saw some of the things Mark was saying. I simply st8ed I had a good deal with him,and mentioned something about all the name calling... end of story.... AGAIN yes I still am gonna stand my ground Im gonna stand on it with concrete blocks for shoes..... I do not feel at this point after standing back reading all the other ppl I openly invited to come here and voice their opinons.... I dont trust David I have had plenty of emails I think there is even 1 post on this thread I wont even quote it. About how he is with animals he gets even from some big names... The shipping did not stress this snake enough to kill it... Several unique things about these posts stand out to me. First, how many others on this forum sign their name *directly* after the last sentence? Not many. Second, the names of each user begin with an "alias" and end in a number. Many users do this, but I find it odd that both "clients" and Mike himself happened to have arranged their user names in the same manner. Then there is the issue of overall wording. Note the substitution of numbers and symbols for actual words, the constant use of "&", and not writing out numbers. This occurs in all three posts and is consistent with a typical post written by Mike. The same word (Chatoic9 instead of Chaotic9) is even spelled wrong by both users. I have colored some of the similarities between the posts so that they may be observed more easily (just a few, though... I ran out of colors!). Lastly, and probably the issue that I find the most odd is that both users participate very little on Fauna and yet both suddenly decide to chime at relatively the same time that Mike chimed out on that thread. It would not be unusual for clients who were formerly pleased with a transaction to come to the seller's defense, however, one must review other posts by these two individuals on former threads. They appear to *only* post in regards to Serpentboy78 (compliments, good guy posts, etc.), as if thier own personal herp worlds revolve around him. Their irrational comments to the David Beard thread also make me skeptical as well as the fact that they completely turned a blind eye to any wrongdoing on Mike's part. I believe these individuals are either Mike Clark himself writing under a different alias in each circumstance, or they are posts that have been "pre-packaged" by Mike (if you will) and sent out via his cohorts. Of course I could be completely wrong. I am merely saying that I find this odd as the similarities are uncanny. As demonstrated by the last Serpentboy78 post, Mike is perfectly willing to post under a presumably different identity.

Please keep in mind that I am unbiased and have merely made an observation. I have talked business with Mike previously via e-mail on several occasions. I would like to believe that he is a stand-up guy, however, after this past week's occurances I do not think that to be the case, unfortunately. The only good I have seen of him thus far is his decision to reimburse David (keep your fingers crossed!). Too bad the right decision was made only after the constant prodding of forum users who were able to see the situation for what it was and speak out again his wrongdoing.

In my opinion someone who would send venomous snakes via USPS doesn't have high enough of an IQ to ride the short bus. Someone who would ship venomous via USPS obviously doesn't care how this could potentially affect others in this hobby/business. All it takes is one jackass to screw up like this and the whole community gets to pay for it. If you don't have the proper (legal) means to be shipping venomous then you don't have any business dealing with them until you do.

Months ago, Mike Clark relocated to Houston Texas near his relatives and it is more than obvious that he is making posts or his wife is making posts in support of himself from his friends and relative's computers.

It also is a fact that the address on Mike Bump's shipping label is one of the two addresses that Mike Clark provided me to send my snakes in trade.

Wow Mike Clark, you really disappointed your wife this time. Or was she a part of your fraud and thievery all the time? I bet the latter.

You really should remove yourself from this hobby for everyones sake, including the poor delivery drivers who think nothing about reptiles, but may one day end up dead due to some very sick individual. Glad to hear there might be resolution Mike.

This thread was started by David with one objective in his mind; get some restitution for his loss. It is clear that making this deal right will not turn Mike all of a sudden into a good guy. But in MHO there is a need first to resolve the issue that originated this thread.

Maybe some of you followed Kevin Smith’s thread and the heated debate on the unlawful shipping of venomous snakes that happened a few weeks ago. It would’ve been extremely important for more people to get involved in that discussion and voice their opinion.

It is clear there are irresponsible venomous snake keepers/dealers that dismiss the relevance of adhering to the law when shipping their animals. Thanks to this forum most of us know now who some of these individuals are. But it would be important that those who have information on who is shipping illegally also come forward and let the rest of the herp community know.

Non-compliance with the Lacey Act and shipping venomous snakes through non-approved carriers are both ways of breaking the law. The difference is that sending an unlabeled box with a corn snake will not put lives at risk, whereas sending a mamba will. Let’s put our efforts on trying to stop the illegal shipping of poisonous snakes. Maybe we should even start a thread about it.

One final thought though, there wouldn’t be sellers shipping illegally, if there weren’t buyers willing to receive poisonous snakes illegally.

Dan Garcia, you make a good point however the misinformed public often assumes too much in many situations like a so called instance when a customer receives a venomous snake, it is automatically assumed that the customer has requested it to be sent ground. A customer who does receive a venomous snakes does not always agree or desire in the negotiations to accept venomous snakes in that manner. As in my case, I traded 340 dollars worth of snakes for a coral snake being sold for 150 bucks and SERPENTBOY was supposed to take care of the shipping and I did suggest Delta has I had seen venomous ads suggesting Delta and he briefly mentioned UPS and I said I really did not want it to be shipped in that manner. Further, heck, I did not even know venomous could not be shipped ground and did not even have a clue if UPS was ground or air or whatever? As it ended up, he sent the shipping data that evening or the next morning indicating UPS tracking data and what was I supposed to do, call UPS and tell them I am receiving a venomous snake in the mail? Well, it was my first ever purchase of any reptile in the mail and I have made one other and was burned again and that guy is also being investigated, so I will never buy a snake in the mail unless it is from someone I know. And I know hundreds of other people in the industry and I always am sought for my advice on their purchases and I always recommend to never purchase a snake in the mail unless you know the person and have a dire need for the reptile. And in this other guys case, Mike Bump, he sent 90 dollars for Delta Dash shipping and SERPENTBOY sent the venomous snakes UPS and stole Mike Bumps money. There is no other way to see it. Mike Clark walked away with the extra cash in his pocket. You see, SERPENTBOY is an expert at entrapment and he entraps people in this manner and other people have emailed me and told me the same thing happened to them when they bought a venomous snake from him. He says he will ship Delta and he never does. I bet that SERPENTBOY never had a Delta account his entire life and has sold every venomous snake via UPS, fed ex, and the Postal Service. And what happened to SERPENTBOY? His response to sending venomous snakes in via UPS to Mike Bump and that he was discovered using other peoples computers to make positive comments about himself and his false accusations from Mike Clark that Mike Bump found the shipping label in the trash and made it up, and then Mike Clark admits to being busted and says he will no longer post? I know that is the correct shipping label as that is the same address in Trinity Texas that Mike Clark said to send my snake I traded. Is Mike Clark naive to believe this entire thread will not be sent to the proper authorities and he can ignore all the charges set against him? And I also did an email search of all those people who defamed me on SERPENTBOY's last post, and I emailed everyone that took a hard shot at me and threw insults, and only one person emailed back which leads me to believe and indicates that SERPENTBOY was up to his old tricks of utilizing other people's computers to insult me and cause speculation. Heck, I never started that post and never intended to take care of his butt on this BOI as there are numerous federal and state investigators receiving a government check that are paid well, make a living on it, and will do that for me.

I would take that to mean that Dan is a relative newcomer to the reptile world. However as I recall, Dan also worked for Ben Seigel for some undetermined length of time. Ignorance of the sort he is professing to makes no sense at all when he actually worked for a large scale retail / wholesale operation that ships animals out daily. Not making a whole lot of sense here Dan.

You made some good points,but i suggest you read my post.I know its illegal to ship hots thru the mail.I also know its illegal to recieve them in the mail.I need to correct Dan's post about me being out shipping cost.My transaction with Mike Clark was a trade i shipped first,via ups and it cost me $80 to ship.After he recieved my snakes,he told me he no longer had a delta account but not to worry his friend did.Two days latter i email him to ask what was up with his end of the trade.And he said i should of had them by now.About two hours after my email my postman was knocking on my door with a box.I was dumbfounded but i did sign for the box.At the time i was thinking i got burnt,and he couldnt be that stupid to send them usps.Well he was,someone else made a comment that if people wouldnt accept hots in the mail then people wouldnt ship them.This was not the case in this instance.What if i told you im a 15yr old with no experience with hots??I'm not,but what if i was?How long is this s*it going to go on before something like that does happen.If you were holding a gun to my head and you asked me to shoot me.Guess what i would just be stupid and you would be the killer.So i dont care if Dan asked for his snakes to be shipped like that or not,i dont know dan and i dont know if that was the case.But i tell you this John if you keep hots and you love this hobby as much as i do you better wise up and help weed out the idiots like Mike Clark from our hobby.
