While reacquainting myself with the old shrillomn thread I ran across this post. the irony is that it hold as much merit now is it did 15 months ago to the day.

I noticed this trend long ago and was hoping I was wrong in my observations.

It seems every time there is a lull in bad guys to go after that the membership starts going after each other. I have noticed this many times. Is that a side effect of what this forum is primarily about? A reflection of many of the members personalities? A need to always have someone to belittle and berate? A need for drama?

What ever the case, the constant negativeness of this site is really getting old. The apparent need for there to be some form of drama going on at all times is pretty sad. It's all so petty, ugly and accomplishes nothing. I just dont understand. I really dont.

Sammy, I am no longer a paid member, but you really do deserve a pat on the back and good karma for that post. Funny, things around here change to only remain the same.

I had a long phone conversation with Mike on this and other subjects. Mike has never sold a sick animal, owe money for an outstanding dept. and has always been a great asset to the reptile comunity as a whole. He stepped up to the plate when we (Bryon and I) were left hanging by another member on this forum. Mike will continue to have my full support and friendship.

I dont want support and I havent lobbied for it. I dont care who believes me or not. As I said, I've made my decision based on my interaction with shrill and then in finding out it was Mike.

I dont know why you are so upset with me about all this. I didnt help him create multiple accounts to deceive folks around here. I didnt help him to bust Rich's chops. I didnt pick his fights or force him to post. It was Mikes choice. I dont begrudge you for liking the guy or still considering him a good guy after all this. Why do you begrudge me? Dont I have a right to feel the way I want about anyone I want over anything I want? Do I need your permission?

Thank you Jim. I'm really not trying to sway anyone. Its just my reasoning for feeling the way I do about Mike. I respect the way all of you guys feel about him.

I find this hilarious. Some of y'all that are crying are antagonistic, use profanity, and attack fauna members all of the time. The only thing Mike did different that I can see was use an alias and turn on his own pack.

If "friends" turned on each other, never to be friends again, over a difference of opinion in the Shrill saga then at least one of the following is true. Either y'all were never really friends, don't know the true meaning of the word, use it too loosely, or are just plain lousy at friendship.

Oh well, I guess y'all can add Mike Greathouse to your list of banished wolves along with Chris Johnson, Matt Graybal, Mike Shoemaker, Bill Leverton, and Ed Clark. Man it's a good thing we have your good character judgment to tell us who the "Good Guy's," and "Bad Guy's" are .

Others can apply a different set of ethics to him than you would to another based on all of the good he has done for the hobby, or maybe even for yourself.

I don't think he is "that bad of a guy." Then again, I tend to align myself with scum.

What a few of you are also glossing over is the fact that Mike has done more to support this site over the last several years than just about anyone. He organized auctions, contributed regularly, purchased the first Endowment Membership and had one of the first GCC certificates displayed on his site as well until it was pulled. Coward?...he never had a problem voicing his opinion or thoughts to anyone including Rich. An awful lot of the members here adopted the “it’s his site, he can do what he wants” attitude when Rich dropped the reins here six months after collecting a tidy pile of cash from everyone. We were even treated to a nice shiny picture of what our money purchased prior to his abdication. Mike was one of a few who very professionally pointed this out to Rich. And now a select group of you have actually paid for the privilege of running this site for him. That is one of the better pieces of business legerdemain I have seen pulled off. A few of us called him on it. Myself included. Based on the lukewarm responses from others in the threads concerned, a lot of you though the same way. If the point was punched home by someones alter ego....who cares. It was effective.

John, I believe everything you stated above to be an accurate representation of yours and Mike’s beliefs. Along with others, you’re pissed. When Rich went to “pay to play” you and Mike welcomed it. It pissed off a lot of people but you two were supporters. Mike was very vocal when the fee was dropped. Mike and many others wanted to stay the course and only allow paid members to post. He felt betrayed that it went from only paid members could post to allowing everyone back in. It’s the right of everyone to view it in the way they want.

It is obvious to anyone who has gone through the original Shrilomn posts that the creation of that particular entity was for the express purpose of deflating the bloated ego of Wilomn

Mike was frustrated with the anonymous ability to post and that is why Shrill was created. That is what Mike stated. What he did with the anonymous ability to other members and to poke fun at Wes was secondary. Mike and your positions were that the site keeps collecting the fees. The whole point about the car doesn't make any sense to me.

There is a difference between actively disagreeing and what has since happened. I’m not talking about Shrill but the continuation.
I voted to keep the BOI as verified through the subscriptions and probably would still today. But the fact that it changed didn’t cause me to strike out against the site. Yes, I am one that stated it’s Rich’s site and he could do what he wants. I gave my opinion to keep the memberships and then I moved on when it didn’t happen. And it is apparent by your posts and Mike’s that neither of you could get past it.

How many people walked when the paid status came into play? How many stated it was only started to pay for a lawsuit? When it was showed that the lawsuit was dismissed long ago, those people didn’t come back. Only a few have since the memberships were dropped. He couldn’t please any of those who were against memberships.

Again, when Rich decided the memberships weren't working and he was going to role it back he couldn’t please those that supported it. Mike and others started to walk. Mike started using Shrill.

Again, I get that you are pissed that the site wasn’t done the way that some envisioned it. That Mike supported the change and then it was yanked back. But, I don’t get the throw down the gloves attitude about it. You have taken every opportunity to tell Rich that you disapproved of his decisions. He heard it for crying out loud and didn’t agree. But the continuation of the reprisals are still coming. Not only from the first decision to move to the verified identity on the BOI but the decision to move back to what the majority got pissed off about changing in the first place. All of this boils down to the paid status program and a damn car and it really is sad.

I'm a bit upset about the whole Shrill thing. I mean, I didn't like, nor respect anything he had to say, for the mere fact he was obviously under a fictitious name. Nothing he said really absorbed, and I wished he'd just go away.

I do think it was pretty cowardly some of the things that Shrill/Mike said, and especially the PM to monkey boy.rofl: ) Had the same PM occurred using your true name Mike, I don't think I'd see too much fault at all. I just can't respect not owning who you are, what you say, feel or mean. It's deceptive.

Bad guy? I can't really see myself viewing him that way thus far. I am along the lines of he just got carried away, and went too far with his original intentions. I don't see the bad guy many of you are seeing.

Not that I blame any of the offended for being pissed. We all have our own views. I see a known and proved good guy who made a really stupid mistake. He gets his chance to prove me wrong, just as I'd do for others that haven't repeatedly shown immoral behavior.
