In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Mitchell S. Behm (Global Captive Breeders)

Billy,

Tell everyone your real name, not your alias.

Mitch

If "William S. Hughes" is not really VegasBilly's real name, then his account is subject to being banned and his posts removed from the BOI.

If you know this to be true, Mitch, then lay the cards out on the table, please. I didn't make the rules here for nothing and they WILL be enforced.

But I will need PROOF, not simply hearsay or unsubstantiated claims.

Funny Mitch...you haven't been to my farm or even know me. Bill is a good friend of mine and yes he is great. I am sure he will be happy to comment about us also. our mortality rates are very low as we have a state of art facility. Do make up stories that you can not back up. Instead of deflecting, please answer some of the questions like which email conversation I have changed etc.

...
Wes made an earlier comment about FB in outdoor cages in Indonesia. Can you imagine Ty's farm?..

Mitch

ty parks LOVES his reptiles....

he is doing it out of the LOVE of them. he goes to his farm and ENJOYS his reptiles and hangs out with them just like you and i hang out in our reptile room.

i have purchased reptiles from ty parks on SEVERAL occasions , each and every one arrive PLUMP and VERY healthy. the sailfins arrive with very glossy healthy skin, very well hydrated and very calm. they always eat on arrival and i never have any issues.

ty parks' farm is not a normal farm..... it is his joy, his pride, and his own get-a-way...

i have been dealing with ty parks for over 2 years.... i have spoken to people who have worked for him and i hear nothing but good things, i keep in contact with him and do business with him often.

ty parks is an honest trust worthy guy. i am sorry if you have had any issues with him but they may be just personal... his reptiles are great and no one should hesitate to do business with TY PARKS
GREAT QUALITY!!!

that is all i have to say......

I have had the pleasure to know and work for Bill Brant(Mr Behm you spelled his name incorrectly so you are throwing names out there I thought you should know) and I am sure he would like to know his name has been brought into this. I bet you guy didnt realize bill also supplies two large chains with ball pythons....

Ty, you should call the Animal Company and see if Bill is willing to give input on this matter, Bill is a stand up guy who has a top notch facility and great product.

Ty I think at this point you are beating a dead horse, find a supplier who will gladly supply you with what you need at a price you are willing to pay. Obviously Mr Behm is not it. I checked his site and I was not impressed. I would say if I have the quantity you are seeking and could supply you I would gladly oblige.

I don’t normally vouch for too many people especially in this industry. But based on my dealing with Ty in the past and present, here is my Vouch:
I have known and done business with Ty for a few years now. I have visited his farm on a few occasions. His farm is set up like no other animal dealer I have seen. He is set up on multiple acres of land with huge adequate cages and everything an animal could need to survive. If I was an import, wild caught or captive born animal, I’d prefer to land in Ty’s farm over any other dealer I know. When I visited the farm, the animals were set up in clean large cages with, direct sunlight, drip systems, UVB lighting for indoor enclosures, etc. I witnessed employees working; cleaning and feeding, etc. the animals. All the animals I saw were in good health. I see Ty as a wealthy business man that loves reptiles. He has no problems dropping the cash to buy accommodations for an animal in his care if it is required. He is always looking for ways to make his breeding facility better. I believe that Ty is an asset to our industry and will grow as a reputable reptile business in the future. I commend him on his effort to making the large animal trade chains better. I have seen that they have improved their setups and the animals are of higher quality these days. With that said, in regards to this thread, I believe that Global Captive Breeders was not totally straight in his dealings by offering false hopes in making Ty believe that they would do business when that was never their intention. This is called negotiating in bad faith. If I don’t want to deal with someone I will just tell them so they can move on to search for prospects elsewhere.

I can attest first hand to the quality and livelihood of ty's animals. I've been to his farm/breeding facility in Florida. Hell, I even gave him some of my personal pets (spinytail iguanas) just because his facility was so nice and I knew they would be very well cared for.

The animals at his facility are fat and happy. The enclosures (rather large enclosures, I might add) were kept very clean by him and his staff. The animals always had food available to eat whether it was insects, greens, or specialty foods.

Ty does care about the life of his animals in my opinion. I've seen that first hand. I wouldn't trust my own pets on loan to him without knowing that.

What he did here is post only a few of our email exchanges and changed the wording on some.
That is a very serious charge. As a business person you must save email files, after a charge like that you need to post your version of what you say are the emails that were allegedly tampered with. Failure to do so will reflect on you as a person who says things that are not true.

I anticipate your answer will be that you are a busy person; if that is the case you should not have made such charges because until you corroborate them, they could be characterized as lies designed to take the heat off of you.

Bill,

I think that this post gets to the character of who he is. he promises things and string you along and all of sudden he stop communicating. If after all these conversations, if he was a good person, he should have at least let me know that he has decided not to sell to me.

Ty

Fairly frequently on the BOI there are customers who post and say that they had been talking to a seller, had told the seller that they wanted the critter, and who are outraged when they go to buy the critter and it is sold.

Frequently readers will say that absent a specific agreement or a money deposit, sellers are not obligated to hold critters for those expressing interest.

Here, there was no offer, Mitch expressly wrote that he could not offer critters unless he actually had them. I am thinking that unless you have a close personal relationship with a seller, they are not obligated to get back to you simply because there was a conversation and you expressed interest in buying some of their critters.

I do not see where there were promises made, the parties were involved in preliminary negotiations, trading needs and prices. Had the buyer wanted to buy future critters there could have been a deposit made but nowhere is that evident.

Had the shoe been on the other foot and Mitch here claiming there was a sale and Ty had not paid up, I am thinking Ty would say the same thing: no actual binding agreement had been reached by the parties.

Harald, William S. Hughes is my real name as registered etc. There is another Billy in this thread that might possibly be the one referenced? Ken Foose, among others, know me really well.

Bill

I have been to Ty's facility and have had unsupervised access to examine the gritty underbelly of the operation. There is no grit!

I have been to other facilities including some of the 'big name' operations and can say without hesitation that Ty's is not typical. Ty has the resources and spares no expense in providing the best care available for his animals. His facilities are the object of envy. His husbandry is impeccable. He maintains a collection not a warehouse.

As a person, Ty is among the minority. He is congenial, convivial and generous to a point that sometimes makes me wonder. He is, without question, a businessman in the best sense of the word. It must be the combination of these qualities that would allow him to pursue the transaction detailed in this thread beyond the initial response and certainly beyond the second - to either of which my response would have been to take a flying in a rolling... (I am not as nice as Ty)

I would also consider it a feather in my entrepreneurial cap to be able to conduct business with Ty on any level. I cannot imagine that a business relationship with him could be anything but beneficial.

I cannot believe that there is anyone in the world who would question Ty Park's love of reptiles, his honesty or his all around integrity. Ty is one of the few dealers in this hobby who will bend over backwards to help people with their animals who have not purchased from him nor are likely to do so in the future. If there is a local supplier who can provide a healthy animal at lower cost, Ty is willing to defer business to them rather than have a client pay shipping costs. Ty is an amazing man and anyone who would say anything to tarnish his reputation is someone with whom I would never want to do business.

In addition, whatever Ty has been doing with Petsmart and Petco, it is working. While it may not have trickled down to every store yet, I have seen a dramatic change in the way the Petco and two Petsmarts near my house have handled their reptile division. The Petco and the two Petsmarts near my house work hard to train their employees in reptile care and have gone out of their way to hire people with knowledge about reptiles within the store.

I do not think anyone has questioned those things in Ty at all. There is only a difference of opinion about the characterization of this interaction with Mitch.

Lucille,

You're correct, I sold the animals to others that are members of this site. They are welcome to confirm. Ty is not somebody that I wanted to deal with. What he did here is post only a few of our email exchanges and changed the wording on some. He's coming at me because I'm taking away some of his business.

Mitch

So the proper thing to do was ignore him instead of relating your intentions of not doing business?

Also, you have been asked twice to post these emails that you state are forged. Did you make this up?

I must admit I’ve been a “troll” on this site until I saw someone question Ty and his facilities. The accusations are almost laughable. Ty is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet and is very respected here in SWFL by members of the local herp club, breeders, biologist, and others in the industry. He is constantly helping the local herp community without being asked. Also, his facilities are outstanding. Check out his Facebook page and look at what he offers his reptiles. Ty takes great care of all his animals. The accusations that state otherwise seem desperate.

Also, you have been asked twice to post these emails that you state are forged. Did you make this up?

Doubtful, yet possible. The more likely scenario is that he had the head of a major charitable organization, unnamed of course, look into the emails for him and was then informed, by this anonymous head of this unnamed charity that forgery was committed.

I could see that happening with mitch, no problem at all.

There are more than a couple of questions mitch has decided he can't answer. One can only speculate that answering them would show something even more negative about him than he has shown himself.

Kinda scary, ain't it?

Although I do agree with Lucille that it appears that no promises of sales were made and no monetary damages were incurred, it does appear that this debate will contribute to the positive or negative characters of Ty and Mitch for future readers to use in making their business decisions. With that in mind, I can offer my experience with Ty, since I don't know Mitch (although I could have met him at a show or meeting at one time or another).

I have visited Ty's place many times in the past few years. I have been amazed at how much time and money has been spent making cages and even whole rooms for the various species he works with. When he first decided to work with corn snakes, I made a few suggestions which he implemented. And judging by the effort put into other specialties, such as amphibians, he must have done some research into those species as well. I find it hard to believe that he will come out ahead financially with some of his elaborate "labor of love" set ups he has made for his Cyclura iguanas and giant tortoises. But he enjoys them and can afford to set them up nicely, so that is all that is important.

I have been especially grateful for his support of our local herp society (www.Calusaherp.org). Not only has he sponsored our Christmas parties at his facility more than once, but he also supplied some of the food for other parties and events, too. And without even being asked, he bought an expensive microphone for our guest speakers to use at meetings. He has donated many animals to our raffles, which also supports our group. I think it speaks to his character being more than "all about profit" when he is so generous to the local herp society, let alone the money and effort spent on his animals and facility.

Well when i heard about what was going on here i felt i needed to make a username and put my two cents in.

I cant believe someone would say all those mean things about Ty
he has invited me and my daughter to his farm and let us check everything out
and we can go out there anytime we want.
while i was there i was blown away by the amount of dedication him and his crew have taken to house their animals it wasn't like i was visiting a lizard breeding factory it was like he had all of them as pets and each one we stopped
in to say hi to was very friendly meaning him and his crew actually spend time with these creatures not just breed em and send em all off.
i think until this person can see this place in person he will have no idea what hes talking about.

thank you Ty for doing what you do and keep it up.

heres my daughter with one of the nice cuban rock iggy's

I was referring to Tegu Man not VegasBilly, who signed his name as Bill.

Mitch

The statement applies regardless. If you have reason to believe that Tegu Man's name is not Billy Cox, then let's have your reasons. What are you basing your accusation on?
We will enforce the rules on this site, but as Rich stated, we won't take action based solely on unsubstantiated claims.
