In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry MJC Serpents...

I have two boas the same age as my normal. She's bcc cross so tht could account for her larger size the other two as I said same age (6 months) eating rat fuzzies. They are barely over 25in one male one female

So he lied. Or got the sizes confused. And as stated before weekly feeding young boas will not kill them. It's actually best to feed young boas 7-10 days. So something else killed that boa.

And as stated before weekly feeding young boas will not kill them.
True. However, it wasn't the buyer that suggested that overfeeding was the boa's cause of death; it was Mindy.

Yes she said over feeding. Which obviously she's not well versed in boas BUT she said he told her he was feeding small rats twice a week or whatever. Honestly I would love to see the conversation but as she says in the screen shot it was a phone call

Which I also have a problem with the "they can't be fed like our balls" "they are too sensitive" as if she's saying over feeding balls is ok. And from everything I have heard its bcc's that have to be fed smaller less frequent meals than bci (I own BCI not bcc) I don't over feed my boas by any means just saying there's a difference between subspecies as well.

You'd also have to take into account the vernacular of the kind of person who'd have been likely to buy a snake from her; or from a pet shop in general. A newb's "small" may very well be an experienced person's "pup". Of course, since we'll likely never know how the conversation actually went, it's all just speculation. I simply took her stance as her having latched on to any possible reason for her to eschew any sense of responsibility.

Ok well as we have all stated we have never heard of a vet open on Sundays. That must be the only vet in the US open on Sundays lol
my dog vet is open Sundays; my reptile vet is not. just depends on the vet.

I literally just cried over the fact that I literally am forced to prove my every breath to you.

don't take it too personally, anyone posting in the BOI is asked to prove everything.
Starting over after what previously transpired in this thread will be hard work.
If you are sincere about starting over, eventually you may be able to earn the trust that you need to be successful.
Don't be surprised if that trust does not come easily; many of us have witnessed some seriously heinous dealings here, resulting in a cautious, skeptical, and sometimes cynical attitudes.
You are getting the chance to prove you are sincere in starting over; that does not come without some responsibility on your end and could benefit you in the long run.

I think all posting should be on hold pending the vet appointment.
She said she made the appointment, she said she would post results; at the very least, give Mindy this chance to prove it.

That litter came from an emaciated adult female, literally any congenital thing could have gone wrong to kill that baby if it was not keeper error.

It was not tested, there is no way to know for certain.

She did give the vet. info earlier and it easily could have been looked up without posting it.

Can we just leave her alone until November 30th? If you want someone to be better than you need to give them the chance. If you do not want the person to have the chance then, by all means, keep it up.

Leaving the vet now. Pictures are up on my Facebook page, as with a lot of details. They attempted to draw from the tail but he wouldn't give a drop. He had to be put under and had blood drawn from the heart. He is still sleepy, but doing okay. They said he was perfect for everything. The test results should be in in about a week. I requested that a physical copy of the results be emailed to me.

Please post the information/images here, rather than direct people to Facebook.

I'm happy that he went through it well. I had to have blood tests done once, luckily they were able to draw from his tail.

All the videos are on my fb page, my mother took them. I can see if she can upload them to youtube and post the links here. I was not allowed to go in to see my snake knocked out to ge his heart punctured. I wouldnt have been able to.handle iy anyways

Good job, Mindy! I hope the test result is negative and will put all this BS to rest for you.

They were NOT able to draw from the tail.

I know, I read that ... which is why when I recounted my snake, I said luckily.

I wouldn't have been able to either.

He will recover from the anesthesia and been his normal self in no time.

An IC venipuncture in a snake is nowhere near as traumatic as it sounds. I find it strange that he was anesthetized for it. Maybe a preference in practice methods. Most do not anesthetize for an IC stick unless the patient is extremely large and/or extremely unruly, as the risk is not worth the reward. I've done several IC sticks with no anesthesia and have restrained for many more. It's actually quite interesting.

Glad to hear all went well. Look forward to the results.

As an aside, meant with humor and good will: Mindy, if you want to be a CVT or a DVM, you may want to harden that stomach of yours. It gets a lot more queasy and gross than an intracardiac puncture. :)

They wanted to put my snake under for a culture for an RI last year too. They are anesthesia happy.
Its not that, either. Its just i couldnt stand to see MY snake being put through that. haha. i felt so bad for my poor wittle dexta fnake :( i mean, remember i have had to hold horses while they get the huge needle in their neck to put them down too. And that's an awful experience. I was close to tears not even seeing what was happening to Dexter though. I just feel bad, I love him and hate that a mistake I made made him have to go through that.

It's all for the best though. Because if it comes back clean, then you KNOW he's healthy and that theoretically your others at home should be too. Given what you went through with Layla and Ribs, isn't that peace of mind totally worth all this? I think it would be, hun.

I know you think I "hate" you or that everyone here is out to get you, but that's never, ever been the case. We just spoke from experience and wanted to prevent what happened to me and others from happening to you or anyone else you might sell to. It was all with good intentions, and hopefully a good learning experience. I went through the same in 2008, when I was 24. People caught me in mistakes, called me out, were harsh on me, and demanded proof (I recorded my DVM's voicemails, posted the lab reports and e-mails, then posted pics of the piles of dead bodies after I euthanized everything before it all went to be burned). Ask Dennis, Steve, Lucille, any of those that have been here before 2008. They all witnessed it and many of them were the ones holding me accountable. It was HARD -- I was angry, I was hurt, and I cried. A lot. Mainly because it was my one mistake in failing to QT that caused it all. Yes, the seller sold sick snakes, but if I had done things the right way, I may not have lost everything. However, it made me who I am now, motivated me to go into VetMed and one day find cures for things like IBD, OPMV, BPNV, etc. It also made me educate myself and research, research, research...then use that knowledge to educate others and when needed, be straightforward and harsh to get the point across, as that is the only way to stop these diseases from spreading and ensure people do the right thing to protect our hobby and our animals. You too will grow from this and use it as fuel to become a better person, a good CVT/DVM. I've already seen you mature in the course of this thread alone, realizing your errors, acknowledging your mistakes, doing what needs to be done, and handling it in a more mature, professional manner. That's all we wanted from you. Lots of people in this hobby would be in denial and slink off and be shady. You took the right path, albeit with some tough motivation. ;) You should be proud, Mindy. Keep moving forward.
