In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello, I normally don't like to discuss seller issues publicly. In the past few years I have bought a fair number of reptiles from a number of great people, and I have had a few problems, but have always been able to work through the problems privately and come to fair resolutions. This is a last resort, I am frustrated.

Moana sold me an adult 2010 female diamond python, that is a male and won't do anything to resolve the issue!

Last July of 2015, I worked out a deal with Moana McAdams, of MoJo's Reptiles for two Jaguar pythons and one 2010 adult diamond python. I paid $2,850 total for the three snakes. Specifically, I paid $1,500 for an adult the female diamond python, named "ISIS".

The snakes were held until early September of 2015 for shipping, because it was hot and for payments, ect. Because of logistical considerations and temperatures, Moana shipped ISIS while in shed.

When the snake arrived the two Jags were exactly as described. I have no problems with either of these two animals, they are doing great and are currently healthy.

However, when I received the box from shipping, the snake bag holding ISIS was soaked and wet, and animal had pooped in the bag and had shed partially during shipping. I told Moana, on several occasions, that I noted wheezing/popping from ISIS after I received the snake. About 4 weeks later, ISIS had developed a significant RI needing treatment. I successfully treated the RI with Tylan injections after discussing treatment options with Moana, and the snake seems to be healthy now with no recurrance so far. I did not cool the snake this winter because of the RI, so I could not attempt to breed it. I am not overly concerned about the RI, and had this been the only issue, it would have not been a point of contention.

However, the next shed cycle, in November, ISIS shed very prominent "plugs", appearing to be a male. I have since probed the animal at over 9 scales and close to 2", indicating the snake is almost certainly a male.

When I contacted the Moana and old her that the animal was a male and not what I wanted, she basically said the animal was sold to her as a female and it was not her fault, indicating it was my problem now. She said it "happens from time to time'. She has now ceased communication with me and we have not communicated over the winter. There is not a safe to send reptiles in my cold climate anyway in the winter.

This is not a hatchling miss-sexing issue. If this was a hatchling, and not highly valued, I would ignore it, mistakes happen. However, no high valued adult snake that is sexable should be sold miss-sexed.

The value of a undocumented male adult diamond is roughly less than half of a female. With the history of RI, the value of the male is significantly less than $1,500, and it is not what I wanted.

I am open resolve this in may ways. I could return the diamond and get a full refund, I could sell the animal, and she could refund the difference, or finally, we could work out a trade for other snake(s) of a fair value to what I paid.

I am hoping to peacefully resolve this. I have sent a PM to Moana on Facebook alerting her of this post.

It is irrelevant that, as she claims, she was sold a male by mistake, she does not get to pass that error along. That is between her and her seller.
She is responsible for what she sold the snake as and if your snake was sold as a female but is a male she should refund you or more appropriate because of the sickness you had to deal with, refund and let you keep the snake.
She is handling this issue very poorly, it does not reflect well on her business ethics.

Just curious, the screen shots of messages say Scott but your profile says Robert, is Scott a nick name or are Scott and Robert 2 different people?

Was there any communication between the November contact when she said she needed to probe the other and the message from yesterday?

I pmed her twice in the last week. I made it clear it was not OK, she should have done something. I could have not shipped the snake back until now anyway.

Is this your seller?

Congratulations first on dealing with the RI in such a calm and professional manner, glad to see you cared for the animal correctly and nursed him back to good health.
Now to the point of contention, carpet pythons are relatively easy to probe and sex with some conviction even at an early age.
If I had bought an animal as female and then intended to sell said animal as female I would ensure BEFORE it was sold to anybody that it was INDEED female, and with a 2010 carpet that honestly is a no brainer.
There is no way Moana can try to absolve herself from blame in this matter at all, if she has been sold a male which was purportedly female then the onus is on HER to resolve it, not you.
As stated MANY time here in the BOI, it is not how you handle your good transactions that always count but how you deal with the ones that go wrong that really show your true character.
Looks like we are seeing Moans character for sure.....

I can tell from the pic you posted that the animal is a a male without probing. It's obvious.

She owes you a full refund including shipping both ways.

Don't let this drop!
