Well guys, I figured I’d email him one last time to see if we could get anything figured this past weekend…

I figured I'd shoot you another email to see if we can get this issue resolved. Send me an email back so we can try to work something out.

I did some thinking for a few days, and decided to put together what I thought was a reasonable start to a resolution. My email

We need to figure something out here. I’ve been saying that we don’t want the leos, and we just received a new JG group. I just don’t understand why you can’t sell some leos like the JG female we gave back, and then sell your hatchlings and send me some money as you can. I think $325 is a respectable medium price for JG’s (last year) and a fair resolution when multiplied by 3. You claim your JG’s can easily sell for $550, so why not sell the JG female we sent back and get the ball rolling.

You know my stance on this. I don’t want the leos anymore and I wouldn’t want them to be extra stressed since I’d be selling them anyways. I’d rather you just sell them and save a double hassle since they would have to settle into a new home twice. I would sell the JG female since it was part of the site deal along with anyone else you can and then sell some hatchlings and send me the money.

I really don’t think selling 3-4 animals would mess up your breeding/holdback plans. I’d really like to get this taken care of so you can have your site and move on. If you can pay me before the domain expires March 21st, I’ll throw the site backup and give you the files. If you can’t, I can only give you all of the files I have. However, if you want to send me $50 to renew the domain and space, I can do that. So when you can get me the money I can still post the site live. This is as far as my help will go. You can have what you paid for then and find help elsewhere.

I’d like to see you make a decent effort selling the JG female we sent back sometime soon. After that, I’ll give you until August 1st to come up with the rest of the money. That gives you half a year to breed, hatch and fatten up some babies to sell.

also, i dont know why you think you have some special power over me, to demand things, or give me deadlines, even if i was going to sell them to get money for you, i would do it on my own terms, you DO NOT tell me what i am doing to do.

Well Dan, I wasn’t demanding any of this that’s why I asked what you thought and we could go from there. You have yet to do anything ”on your own terms” so I figure I’d try again to see if we could get something figured out. I’m sorry I even bothered to try again. I thought that this idea would have been a reasonable start, but I guess not. I’m done wasting my time for real now.

Dan, I had hoped for more effort on your part. I am however not surprised by the outcome. You are still young and "nobody can tell you what to do". I can assure you of this, I will never do business with you. This thread has been a real eye opener as to your true character. You are a BAD GUY!

That does it...I wanted to reserve my judgement and give Dan a bit of time to redeem himself (not that he deserved it) but now after that negative karma comment he sent, and the childish and irresponsible way he handled his last email with Ryan, I have had it. Dan, I wanted to see you step up and make a good attempt to save your name. I KNOW Ryan would have forgiven you in a heartbeat, and this mess would have all been a thing of the past. All it would have taken was a few geckos, and you could have saved your reputation, your name, and your business. Now it's just gone too far. You have been given more than enough chances to show your true character. I believe we've all seen your true colors at this point. I for one from this point on will not buy from you nor sell to you, and you've earned my vote for a bad guy status. I am truly disappointed.

Ryan, although you never recieved payment, I'm glad that this came out the way it did. Everyone can see by your actions that you truly are a great asset to our community. It was extremely hard to watch this all happen and not say anything. Now that the true victim of this has been proven, I no longer need to worry about Dan trying to ruin your and Val's reputations behind your backs. You guys are great people, and will always be my great friends. I am very happy that others have the chance to see how patient and good-hearted you guys are, and how non-deserving Dan is.

Dan, I can only hope that you realize your mistakes and someday feel bad for this. This attitude has probably caused you to never make a sale to anyone on this forum again, so I hope you get a lot of geckos you feel like keeping.

Hello??? They found a young guy that was just to nice. That put in COUNTLESS hours for nothing in return but lukewarm promises.

THEN Ryan tells Dan's mother he will make her a webpage because he is so happy with what Dan has promised him (which Dan never delivered, btw)

So Dans mother has NO QUALMS letting him put in all these hours, never has any kind of problem taking advantage of Ryan. Sure, Ryan offered...but COMON. Any decent human being would start feeling a little uncomfortable at taking advantage of someone like this.

Instead she starts DEMANDING him work and fix and whatnot for FREE, while he has work to do, work that pays his bills...but no, Dan's mom comes first right.

High time Ryan blew up, and then Dan and his mom have the nerve to be upset???

And now, Dan uses his mom's temper tantrum and "freeloading coming to an end" as a excuse to keep withholding payment...wow. Nice ethics...guess a true example of , the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Yes, Dan has no webpage now, so he feels he doesn't have to pay. But that is not so. Not by LAW either.

What about all these many HOURS of work that Ryan provided, without getting the promised payment? To bad, to sad?

Doesn't Dan realize what kind of a deal he had all along? Doesn't he know how much the hourly charge for this kind of work is nowadays? And he should leave the freeloading mother out of it, sheesh. Aren't this mom/son duo embarrassed to even admit they took the offer for free work, demanded ever more and then had a hissy fit when Ryan had to work for people that PAID ??

Dan should be grateful that Ryan is giving him options, instead he is self righteous and even downright offensive.

Dan, you had been given slack...a LOT of slack...that many other bad guys weren't given the luxury of having. I won't speculate why others did, but I had been holding out hope until today because I have enjoyed your company of the forums and I really wanted to believe you made a foolish mistake due in part to your age. You had SO many chances to correct that mistake (if you can call it that), and you've never even ATTEMPTED to set things right. Combine that with your self-righteous behavior, and that has planted you FIRMLY in bad guy territory.

In a few months, when you start hatching eggs and have a hard time selling, I hope you look back on this and see that YOU did this to yourself.

Dan hasn't ruined our faith in people, but like you said he's only made it clear that we need to work on contracts so that this doesn't happen again. If anything, bringing this to the BOI has only confirmed what we thought all along, that the reptile community is full of great people, who are worthy of trust. Thanks again everyone.

I gave you (Dan) a negative for 2 reasons. one you out right robbed Ryan I think you knew from the get go you weren't going to pay him and then brought your momma in on it to take that same free ride.Second when I first got here (Fauna) I thought Cool A New Yorker that is good in this hobby. A young kid like me, but after reading all your dribble about how you aren't selling your hold backs it really pissed me off. you owe Benny Franklin's Dude be a man and pay him you can always get new Lizards and start over JMO but this is all falling on deaf ears.
