WOW! I can't believe I read this whole thing!
Ryan, I am not a gecko keeper. But I do fairly often get requests from my customers as to whom they should buy animals from, if I don't produce them myself. (I will also keep you in mind if they ask for a web designer) I haven't looked yet to see if you are already on the Good Guy certs (I will be checking so I can vote for both the good and the bad), or if you are already producing and selling. But I do OFTEN refer customers to the BOI to check out references for themselves. I don't think potential customers would have any problem figuring out that they would prefer to deal with somebody who shows your patience, maturity, and ethics, over somebody who seems to think that obligations are to be fulfilled only when convenient.
I like the fact that each participant's words speak for themselves. There is no need for me to endorse or bash anyone I have not dealt with personally - they do that quite well themselves, without any help from anyone else!
But I do feel sad that a young man of only 18, with a previously good and long standing reputation here, would give it all up over such clear cut case of unwillingness to work out a fair and prompt repayment plan, especially when the person owed the payment seems willing to be so accommodating to almost any REASONABLE offer.
Ryan, in the end, this may be a blessing in disguise. Even if you never get paid, it will not only serve as a RELATIVELY cheap business lesson, but this thread may get you more business and respect than you would have had otherwise, since it has allowed people to get to know how you respond to pressure "when the going gets rough". Needless to say, the opposite also applies to Dan.
