In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy My experience with Underground Reptiles

You can find the ingredients of Coca Cola labeled on every bottle and can sold (including which ingredient is used the most and which the least), yet the actual recipe remains a secret.

I don't understand why there is so much hesitance in disclosing the ingredients of "mite kill". It comes across as unreasonable paranoia and/or trying to hide something you know isn't kosher.

I highly doubt we have a bunch of wannabe Todd Wilbur types on here who are looking to try and clone your "mite kill". This isn't a witch hunt to try and defame your name or hurt your business; it's trying to piece together what factor(s) led to the poor animal's death. I think we all owe the snake at least that much.

People are asking for the ingredients; not the specific formula. Listing what the product is made of (and ideally in order from what is used the most to the least) is not asking you to list a step-by-step procedure in how the "mite kill" was created or specific percentages of what is used.

Until there is some actual transparency in regards to what the customer was given and told to spray on their animal, you can't rationally rule out the mystery unlabeled bottle with the word "kill" scribbled on it as not possibly contributing to its death.

At least Chelsea has been up-front in answering questions regarding her husbandry.

As far as looking on here for the chondro. This is where I had found their ad in the classifieds for arboreal snakes. So in the classifieds on here is where I found their listing for the snake.

They told me to spray the animal and cage daily just avoid the water bowl. So when I got it. I sprayed him like they said. And a couple of hours later he was dead. They even confirmed on one of their responses on here that they told me to spray the snake and so forth.

The reason I ask, is because I have used Provent A Mite (PAM) as a precaution and it says to let the enclosure fully dry and air out before putting the reptile back in. PAM is actually made for reptiles and even it isn't meant to have reptiles subjected to it in a wet form. I think this is for the same reason as to not get it in the water bowl, so it isn't consumed.

I don't have any problems with asking. I was told to spray directly on animal and the cage. Just not the water bowl. So I took him from the cage. Sprayed him. An put him back. A few hours later I noticed he was not moving and almost dead. So I tried rinsing him off but it was too late and he died.

Is our hobby coming to receiving horrible customer service, such as this?

Chelsea, I am so sorry that this happened to your snake, and you have received this completely deflective brand of wanna-be " customer service. "

Underground Reptiles NEEDS to send Chelsea back a full refund.

The case is simple: You DON'T send a snake with mites to a customer!!
You put forth effort to knowingly care enough about your stock, to NOT SEND a snake with mites to a customer.

This solution of going, " oooooooooopppppppppppppps...." and then sending the customer a bottle of Lord Himself knows what, wrapped in cheap masking tape, with the words, " Mite kill " or whatever, I mean...are you serious?

How insulting!

You DON'T send a snake with mites to a customer EVER!!!

You DON'T try to blame the op with her cage setup.

Focus on the root of the problem. The problem is the poor customer was sent a snake with mites. Did she really want those mites? Was she gonna name them all, and keep them as pets too?

NO!!

Full refund.

Whenever an animal is recieved with an issue the customer should be pursuaded by the seller to return it at every cost. If they decide to keep it other arrangements can be made, but some or all liability for any outcome would be passed onto the buyer if that's the decision they make.

Sure, sending the treatment would probably have worked 9 times out of 10, but there will always be that time when it doesn't work and you get an unhappy customer. Mistakes happen in the animal business and I'm sure Underground isn't a bad store. But I'm sure they would rather have taken the animal back and paid for a label rather than have all this negative stuff. Adjust your policies, and buyers should ask for a refund on the day they are unhappy or accept the consequences that follow with the decision you made. I think an option for store credit or replacement is certainly reasonable.

I'm sure Underground isn't a bad store.

I liked your signature, the part about not knowingly violating state laws. But there were some state laws apparently involved here, the ones about labelling and registration of this 'kill' pesticide that was sent through the US mail.
Might violate federal laws too, depending on what the liquid really is. And we still don't know.
The story may not be completely written, either:
For whatever reason the first bottle was lost in the mail, so we sent a second bottle..
There is a bottle of this stuff and we don't know how toxic it is, and we don't know where it is.

That's true. I'm not sure if its kosher to sell any chemical or derivitive in "bulk", especially without an ingredient list. Too many variables for that to have a good outcome.

I was just saying it would have been alot easier for everyone involved if the problem animal was sent back immediately. I don't know why some stores try and "iron the problem out", that's not always going to work. And that one time it doesn't, all those other times it did are not gonna be worth it. I'm sure everyone involved would agree, it's just a good policy.

Do we know if it was mailed throught the post office? If it was shipped USpostal serice I can pretty much guarantee you it's prohibited by them.big no no

They told me it was mailed fed ex ground.
How did they send the second bottle?
In any case, the state statutes have something to say about labelling and registration of pesticides and the pictured bottle does not seem to comply.
I'd really have problems ordering from a place that has a tantrum because of an open discussion and will no longer discuss the issues.
I hope the lost bottle does not harm anyone.

Like a really strong house cleaner. A lot stronger than any mite killer sold at the pet store. But they said they use it and to spray it directly on him. It's pretty stout chemical smelling.
