In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy My experience with Underground Reptiles

Ok. My husband and I were thinking maybe underground didnt send the first bottle since I was asking them about it and they said must be lost. And he told me on the phone he needed me to email my address for him to resend a bottle of mite killer.

Maybe they didn't. But what if they did and it is lost? If they had not stomped out, this wouldn't be a guessing game.

So what we got here is a reptile company that has been caught selling mite invested animals and giving out an unknown chemical compond for use against mites. and when called out for issues in they're store they clam up tighter then the virgin on prom night and threaten slander lawsuits.

this is just sad!

if they are worried about loosing customers because of this you would figure they would be more transparent about things they do.

so very sad!

Not to kick the OP when she is down and not making any judgements about what UR did or did not do - but the OP's cage is totally and completely unsatisfactory for a green tree python.

It is beyond totally unsatisfactory for an obviously imported green tree python.

That snake had a death sentence before it even reached her house; mites or not.

An imported green tree python is a challenge even for a skilled and experienced green tree python keeper.

Sorry but no, That cage being as not up to PAR would not of killed the snake in 2 weeks time. Being it was only in the US for what 5-6 weeks tops, that alone is not enough time to determine if its healthy or not.

Stop putting blame on the OP, that GTP would of lived fine in the cage with more effort keeping the humidity up. If heat gradient was fine, and humidity remained steady, whats the problem!

This is all on UGR for sending out mites, and illegal chemicals.

Rich, I was not clear. I should have said that the snake may not have died in two weeks from the cage conditions -- but I assure you it would not have survived long term in that set up.

That's a fact.

I just read your read post #145 again. To claim that the humidity level could have been kept at an appropriate level with all of those wood chips and a screen top is not accurate.

Anybody thinking of getting a green tree python for their collection would be well advised to steer clear of most of this thread.

If you reread my post I stated with more effort on her end she would of been fine if the animal was healthy to begin with.

Simple covering part of the screen to hold in heat and humidity would of helped. As well she didnt keep the GTP on aspen it was on Papertowels which is perfectly fine so long humiity and heat is kept in range.

It was already stated earlier by the OP that the snake was kept on paper towel while it was in the cage and alive. It wasn't until after it died and she sanitized the cage that she refurnished it with wood chips and the other sanitized accessories I believe.

And she also addressed the "issue" of the screen top by clearly stating that there is a glass lid under the screen with a small opening for the lamp's electrical cable to come through. So no, it wouldn't be hard to keep proper temps/humidity in that setup.

I saw the OP post earlier that under the screen top was a glass lid with a corner cut out for a light/vent...being that this was a temporary quarantine set up, would that not have sufficed?

The only way that set up itself would have killed the snake so quickly is if the wattage of the bulb was way too high.

What brand of bulb is it? i'm not familiar with a 55 watt incandescent, or was it a spiral florescent? Just curious.

Gotcha, yeah that should be fine. I don't really see anything lethal about the set up. I wouldnt feel too bad about what people are saying.

Another factor to consider is shipping. But ant any rate like I said before, the snake having mites so early in the game, I would say you have every advantage in this dispute. If the snake had died 2 weeks later with no previous claim I'd say you would be out of luck. But Mites in the beginning? Done deal, no contest.
