In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My First Beardie

Oooh, granite tiles would be very pretty! Might do that...but I don't want something that'll get TOO hot, hmmm...this will be tough.

I shouldn't have to get rid of him. Tim is a SAP for the routine of me pulling him out of his cage to play with him, looking at his pictures, etc. So, if anything goes first, it'll be my grandmothers' gemstones, his coin collection (which is already going for a new car), then cutting down more on the groceries...no extra spending for awhile, no going out to eat every weekend/other weekend...etc.

He loves ALL the peppers. Red, Green, and Yellow. I haven't tried tomatoes with him yet. Maybe Saturday when I make tacos and spaghetti.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Great you shouldn't have to get rid of little Toby, that would be a shame.
I hope your finances get better, I totally understand.
I wouldn't feed too many tomatoes, since they are high in oxalates & will bind calcium absorption. Ocasionally, that is fine, but not regularly. :D
That is awesome he loves all of the colors like that! It sounds like he is doing really well & eating great, too.
The tiles do get warm, but they should not burn him, by any means. The slate or granite tiles would look great.

Tracie

Well if you had to sell coin collections this is about the best time in years to make a profit doing it, Silver is super high right now..

Yeah no kidding. It is a good time. Considering the most he paid for any of them was around $150 and they are going anywhere between $250 and $290 :D:D That's just for his gold ones too.

Hopefully, if I'm lucky, anything left over is going to go towards Toby too, but I doubt it, he'll probably put it towards Harmony which is great too!

Toby'll be so spoiled soon anyways. I can't wait to get his new home, even if it has to take a month or so longer than expected. :D

Hello

Hello Amber,

Yeah Toby is so spoiled already! LOL I know, I am anxious to see his new home too! He will really love it.
So the coins are still there? LOL
How are you feeling today?

Tracie

The coins go up sometime in the next week or two......it's been snowing here again and we are in desperate need of heat! Besides, if I want to take Toby anywhere with me this winter, I need to make sure the car is at least warm enough for him. I've been wanting to take him to a friends house for some time, but no can do right now.

I'm debating on how I want his new home completely set up. If I want to keep his branches, and if I do how to keep them from falling over, etc. Also if I want to keep his rock, but if I did that, he'd need a bigger one in the end.

Hello

Hello Amber,

How are you feeling? I hope you are getting some rest!
The coins go up in the value soon? Are you going to sell them or hold off on that?
The weather has looked bad up north! If you do take him outside definitely bundle him up in your coat!!
Yeah it does take a bit of planning on how to setup branches, & rocks, etc for them to be safe. You can tie things up with wire, just make sure the wire is out of range for him to cut himself on it.

Tracie

I don't think I'll be using wire. I'm hoping that I can get a good solid backed one, this way I can drill holes into it for screws and then mount the rocks and what not onto it that way. The sticks, really no idea. Might try to use them as his ladders to climb up to the rocks.

I don't plan on taking him outside any time soon. I'd like to, but I'd rather him stay warm and cozy.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Drilling holes to screw things in is a good idea. I am sure whatever you do decide to get done, it will look awesome. I am sure you are anxious to get the project started.
You can screw the sticks together, & that works pretty well. That way they wont move around any.
How are you feeling today? Are you doing any better, & taking your vitamins too?
Is Toby eating well still? I hope the cold weather is not bothering him any.

Tracie

Toby is eating well still. Snoozin' right now. The other night he passed out in his empty water bowl. It was kind of funny. This week has been busy at work (Due to Valentine's Day) so I haven't been able to play with him much. So this weekend is going to be a REAL treat for me and him. :D Doctor cleared me yesterday, was ecstatic. :D

Hello

Hello Amber!

Oh Toby fell asleep in his water bowl? Don't let him drown, or do you drain it at night?
GREAT you are cleared by the doctor. Are you feeling better? I am sure that Toby will be very happy to have his mommy back full time though. Sorry you were so sick.
I am happy that he is doing so well now. Great to hear. :D

Tracie

No the bowl was empty, it normally is. He doesn't drink from it anyways, so I don't fill it anymore. Got tired of the sand clumping up from him splashing. So, he just gets a bath every night or his veggies get watered some too. Not to mention his baby food.

Yes, I am feeling great. Can't wait to take him out for a bit tomorrow. It'll have to wait until after chores, but other than that, least he's got room to run once it's done.

So, Tim (and one of her Big Back Yard magazines) had Harmony convinced to tell me that she wanted to get rid of Toby and get 2 baby lizards like Toby. She wakes up this morning crying saying "I don't want to get rid of Toby, I don't want baby lizards, Toby is going to grow big. I just saw the baby lizards hatching from eggs in my book!" It was TOO darn cute! Then she comes running out here to play with Toby through his cage.

Hello

Hello Amber!!

How's it going? I am so glad you are feeling so much better now! Go easy on yourself though, & don't overdo it by getting too tired all at once.
Oh that is good there is no water in his water bowl now. Alot of them wont drink from water bowls but if you spend enough time with them, you can train them to do so but it takes time to do that.
Does he like his baths then? That is great he gets them so often.
Plus he eats his veggies too & that is really good for his age, too.
Oh that is sad that Harmony was crying. Tim still wants to get rid of Toby, really after this long? It sounds like it is 2 against 1 though! :D

Tracie

Oh no, he only makes jokes about getting rid of him now. He wouldn't ever make me get rid of him unless it was an absolute necessity.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Oh that is a relief! :D I was hoping your hubby was going to let you keep little Toby after everything you have done for him, that would be really disappointing.
How is he doing now, keeping you on your toes again?
I hope YOU are starting to feel much better now.

Tracie

He hasn't moved from this one spot much. Unless he has LIVE food to chase after. But he goes right back to that spot when he's done. Dunno why either, it's not on the warm side of the tank.

Oh, and I'm also doing an Informative speech on bearded dragons, anything I should make sure to add to it?

I know about food, substrates, tank sizes, heating/cooling, hydration/hygiene, ummmm......decor...what am I missing? I know there are something or some THINGS that I'm missing...just not sure what.

And if there are any sub-points to what I did mention that you think are too important to leave out.

Hello

Hello Amber!

You are doing a speech on Bearded Dragon care? Where?
That is very neat. What else do you need to know?
Remember about the UVB lighting, the importance of having that in order for them to absorb calcium properly.
If you want me to go into more detail on the UVB lighting, let me know, I can.
You will need to cover supplementation as well.
What about housing multiple dragons? It is not recommended MOST of the time.

Tracie

I have to do it for my Public Speaking class on Wed. So far I have:

Housing: tank size, substrates, decor, lighting, and heating, and cleaning

Heating and Lighting: Thermoregulation, fixtures, basking temps. UVB light, night time lights, white lights are no no's, special heating things and which to stay away from, sunlight and thermometers, light times, and how often to change bulbs

Feeding and Growth: Bugs, Commercial Food, Baby Food, Fruits and Veggies, Size of food to be given, How to chart growth, and how big they are going to get roughly

Health/Diseases: Only named Mites, Thermal Burns, Calcium Deficiency, and Intestinal Binding, I know there is more, but this speech isn't sposed to be longer than 5 minutes.

Hygiene: Bathing, Nails, an dyourself

Where to get a Beardy and what to look for: size and age, mutilations, expos and where to get info on good/bad sellers (mentioned this site for that) private sellers

Behaviors and Personality: Beard Display, Head bobbing, arm waving, raised tail,

Fun Facts: about wild beardies being poisonous and how one lightning bug can instantly kill your pet and that you can potty train them.

Everything listed is also split into sub categories as well that gives more details on everything. But from the main points, can you see anything I missed?
