    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

My First Beardie

Nope not here today, which means, they'll be here tomorrow. I fed him another roach to hold him. These roaches don't lay eggs, they are live births, which is cool. I'm finding all sorts of empty shells from them shedding. :D I can't wait to add a couple more full growns into there and see all the babies coming out. If this goes over really well, I'm getting another beardie :D hehe or something at least that can eat the roaches too.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Oh too bad they did not come today! Will they deliver on a saturday then? Oh which species of roach did you get as most lay eggs? Blatica dubias do live birth, is that what you have?
You must be feeding them well if you are finding lots of shed shells in there. I am sure they will be doing great & you will get lots of babies out of it.
Toby will love them.

Tracie

Yeah, I have the Dubias. I didn't want any that had even the small chance of being able to climb and/or fly...and those were the first ones I came across that did neither.

Yeah, they deliver on Saturdays....unless it's a holiday, or the day after a holiday. They should be here in the next hour or two. I can't wait.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Oh, ok, the dubias. Yeah they tend not to climb.
Did your shipment come in today? I hope so! Your new toys. :D Harmony's new pets! LOL

Tracie

No sign of the shipment yet. :( Hopefully by today then. If not, I guess I'll have to go to the bait shop tonight and pick up a few crickets. :D

Hello

Hello Amber!

Oh no, I hope that they did not get too hot with the shipping. Did they put a cold pack in there for them too? Geez, I hope you get them soon! That is funny that the bait shop has crickets there.

Tracie

Still no dubias..:( If they don't arrive today I'm contacting the place because I ordered worms too.

I've been feeding Toby off baby food for now so he doesn't get hungry. He seems to enjoy it. Eats like a piggie!

I hope they put a cooling pack in too....you would think people who sell things like live bugs, would watch the weather for the places they ship to so they know what to add to keep them alive. But who knows.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Any dubias yet? What is the hold up on them? I hope you get them soon! I hate to think that they could be stranded out somewhere.
I would hope that they put a cold pack in there though! Geez.
So, Toby is eating a little bit of babyfood here & there huh? That is good. I hope he doesn't get too hungry!

Tracie

The dubias finally arrived Thursday. I think they even had babies on the way because there were a TON of little ones inside along with the ones I had ordered. :D So YAY for babies. No cold pack inside though. So I don't know. There were no dead ones at least.

Now he's munching on worms and roaches. He's a happy little boy. I was moving him over to his bowl and then dumping the roaches in, but now I'm letting him "hunt" them.

Hello

Hello Amber,

That is great your roaches finally came! :D I bet that Toby loves them now!! There were babies in with them also, really? That is awesome. So now you are off to a great start!
Wow there was no cold pack in there, well, at least they were not dead from heat injury!
I am sure that he is a happy boy now.

Tracie

H Amber
I'm glad to read that your Tobias (I love that name) is dong well for you

The roaches love the heat and unless they are exposed to absolute baking temps-they thrive in it and breed like crazy!

Have fun with them!
I like the Dubia's the best for feeders

I need to get a thermostat hooked up to the repti-mat I have attached to the roach cage. Just to make sure it doesn't go above 90 degrees F. Every now and then it reaches 96 in there, nothing more though. I can't tell if they are shedding or dieing right now. It looks like a bit of both. :(

I mist them daily, and make sure to aim the tops of their hiding places so not to get them with the water spray, then I aim for the ground. Their food is plain old dry cat food with the occasional sugar breakfast cereal and it's in a very small dish just enough that they can climb into it. Plenty of places to hide, or at least, I think so, they seem to do it very well. :p So I don't know why any of them would possibly be dieing. :( I'm hoping that it is ALL just shells. Either way, I just contacted somebody for some more. So hopefully that will get things moving even faster.

Hello

Hello Amber!

OH definitely don't let them get too hot, that wont be good for them. Do you have a fan to help keep them cooler?
They aren't too crowded, are they? What is the humidity in there?
The catfood & cereal is fine, as well. I hope that they start doing better in there. I hope it is all shells in there too.
Really watch those temps. Let me know how things are going.
How is Toby doing?

Tracie

Temp was 94-95 when I checked earlier with a humidity of 45......now it is 95 F with 35 humidity

Hello

Hello Amber!

Oh wow, those are somewhat high temps. Maybe you should put a fan in there to help with circulation. How are they doing?

Tracie

We are going to go get a thermostat to put inside. But for now, I just unplug the heat mat for a little bit and then make sure to plug it back in before I go to bed. So it's off for about half a day. They seem to be doing great. Babies are being born it seems every time I go in to clean, which is about once every two or three weeks, depending.

I now have a blanket over a little more than half the screen top of the cage blacking it out. I kept a small side of it open for air. They seem to be doing great because I just saw more babies the other day. I'm so excited!

We bought them this rock thing, that normally goes in a fish tank, and set it so they could climb inside, they love hanging out in there more than anything. We are thinking about getting a few more so they can hide in the dark all the time in case the blanket isn't always strong enough.

Toby is starting to fill out. I can't wait until he hits full grown capacity. :D I do need to weigh and measure him again though. I'm past due.
