    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

My First Beardie

Hello

Hello Amber,

Oh another tatoo, huh? What will you get then?
What type of snake is he getting then? Snakes are not too bad! :D We have a 2 year old ball python & he is awesome. I think you might end up enjoying one more than you think you will.
How is little Toby?

Tracie

Toby, is a PIG! haha...good thing the roaches are more than keeping up with him. He's only eating maybe 6 roaches a day though. I guess he gets full quick. Gaining weight properly, so no harm.

The tattoo is going to be a black and green dragonfly on my left shoulder. :D

No idea what type of snake he's going to get. Either way, I'm not looking forward to it. My grandma and grandpa used to have a snake, a boa, and the thing got loose almost every week I was up there. *shudders* Then my moms boyfriend at one time had a milk snake and another one....and one that was REALLY expensive....and I couldn't STAND to go into his basement. It didn't help he had 2 tarantulas either...the lizard was awesome though. Only, I couldn't pet him. He bit anybody who was dumb enough to stick their hands in besides him.

Hello

Hello Amber,

Great Toby is eating so well. Yeah, that is ok 6 roaches a day, he is getting older now so he has slown down some. Are they pretty large now? At least they are keeping up with his eating!! LOL I bet he is starting to fill out now.
Oh snakes aren't so bad. :D I don't mind them at all. Tarantalas, are pretty but, not for me. They are scary looking with those fangs.
You don't have to handle the snake if you don't want to.

Tracie

I didn't plan on handling, feeding or cleaning the snake cage. :p That's ALL on him.

It's getting ready to storm. Ugh! I hope power doesn't go out. I'm in the middle of writing my proposal in hopes of getting a publisher. I FINISHED MY BOOK!! Well, the first one at least. It's going to be a sequel, or even a pre-quel series. Not sure just yet. *shrugs*

Oh yeah, he is REALLY filling out! It seems he gets bigger by the day. haha

The roaches, some of them, are getting pretty big. He don't even bother going after and eating them. He sticks to the smaller, medium sized ones instead. tehe Reminds me, I should probably weigh him tomorrow.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Oh I think in time you will want to hold the snake, no matter what type he gets. A ball python or a corn snake are pretty popular starters & easy to keep as well.
So Toby is starting to fill out now. I figured he would being he is 1 year now.
Did you weigh him? That is funny he goes after the smaller roaches but not the larger ones! Silly boy!
What is your book about? That is ALOT of work.

Tracie

The book is about a rich brat teen. Tristan, who goes through life happy from the pain he causes others. Him and his buddies make bets to see who can bed the most people or in the fastest time. Usually they are straight bets, but one of the people Tristan holds the bets with, Jake, ran into this guy that he knew from the past, Julian. Julian was with a guy named Theodore, and Jake used to be Theodores' dealer. Theodore would pimp Julian out to Jake, and others, for their next fix. So Jake tried hooking up with Julian (he doesn't remember Jake) but gets shot down. So Jake bets with Tristan that he can't seduce Julian.....and it gets all complicated...Tristan and Julian fall in love, Jake and another guy both long for Tristan, and Theodore, who has a kid with Julian, wants to have his family back.....so the three of them go through a lot of deception and trickery in order to break the two apart....yadda yadda

Nope, No holdy snakey! Yuck! I've been around TONS of snakes in my life, and there is NO way I will ever get used to them. *shudders*

Well, I have to hop off here. Need to pack up Harmony and her cousin and head to my house to see if I can find my wallet....if so, it's BUFFET TIME for us 3 haha!

Hello

Hello Amber!

GEEZ, I had NO idea you were a writer like that, how cool. Is this your first book? Do you have an editor already? It sounds intriguing. Are you finished, right?
I hope Toby is doing well, & still eating. He will most likely brumate this year so that will be a new experience for you. Is he still picking the medium roaches out?
Well, I guess you can admire the snake from afar, huh? :D Did your hubby decide what type of snake he is going to get?

Tracie

No he hasn't decided what type, but probably a ball python or a milk snake. Unsure...nope, no admiring from afar either. That thing will have a blanket over it during the day when he's gone JUST LIKE the roach cage does. Only, the roaches are covered because they don't like light, not because I hate them. I love the little critters! :D

Toby does still pick out the medium and small roaches. He leaves the big ones alone, even when they are stealing a drink from his water bowl right in front of his snoot! haha Brumate....that's when his appetite slows considerably, and he doesn't move a lot, etc. right? That'd be neat.

Yes, this is my first book. No editor yet, that's kind of why I'm doing the proposal, in hopes of when I find a publisher, I will find an editor too. Right now, I just have a few people, different ages, backgrounds and genders, who read through it and helped me fix things if they were too complicated, or didn't make sense...etc. I recommend nobody under the age of 16 read it (due to the graphicness of some of the "scenes", but a few of the ones I allowed (after MUCH begging and convincing on their part) were 12 or 13 at the youngest. I guess, if it ever gets published, it'll be up to the parents if they read it or not at such young ages. Some probably won't even bother to pick it up and see WHY I put that recommendation on it.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Oh you are SO hilarious, a towel over the snake. He or she wont hurt you. :D Yeah the roaches don't like much light, that is for sure.
I guess Toby just prefers the smaller & mediums ones. It is funny how he picks them out like that though. Crazy dragon.
Yes, brumation is basically when they do a slowdown phase for rest & recooperation in preparation for breeding (in the wild) & partly due to the availability of food being more limited because of the fall & wintertime months.
He is 1 year right or a little over now?
That is a good thing to put a warning for age restrictions on your book! I am sure that you will find an editor for a riskay book! LOL That should be no problem at all. Your first book, that is cool.

Tracie

I don't care if the thing can hurt me or not...I just don't want to LOOK at it! *shivers*

Yup, first book. Although, I found a few areas I would like to "fix" or "add on" to. If not, I will at least have to add a preface to it to explain the whole situation. Either way though.

The roaches are awesome! I actually think they may need a bigger tank. Toby isn't keeping up with them. There is very little decoration in his tank, but they manage to evade him by hiding under his branches...lol....plus, he's too lazy to go chasing after them, but he is finally getting the idea again.

Yes, he is exactly a year old (if you only count the time I have had him, since there is no way of knowing how old he was when I bought him) So, He could be a year and a month or two for all I know.

Hello

Hello Amber,

Toby is probably more like 1 year & 3 months or so. Roughly, anyway. :D
At least he is trying to chase the roaches & getting some exercise. They are still hiding from him too?
Maybe you should get a larger tub for them so they have more room to spread out & breed. You will have too many before long especially if Toby slows down & brumates this year, he wont eat for awhile!
Good luck with the book!

Tracie

I have that taken care of if he decides to slow down and we end up with more than we can hold.

I have one VERY creative idea on what to do with them, but hubby tells me no, not as long as we are living here too, BUT as soon as we move....it's open season! *snickers* I feel compelled to "release" them on my upstairs neighbors...*bwahaha* I'm so mean...they'd deserve it though. In the mailbox, cars (if that were possible) and running around their homes! It would be GREAT!

Hello

Hello Amber!

Oh that is evil! :D They would not have any idea what to do, run, scream or hide! You wouldn't do that would you?
Yeah just wait until you move, & they wont know where they came from.
I hope Toby is doing well & eating for you.

Tracie

Yes, yes I would do that. haha

Toby is doing well, although, he decided he was going to sleep in his food dish the other night. haha The night before he wasn't in it but had his head dipped all the way down to the bottom of it.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Yeah that would work! :D
Ah, poor Toby was tired & sleepy huh? His head was in his food dish? Maybe he is dreaming of food! :D

Tracie

Yeah maybe. I don't see how...he should have a full belly every time he goes to sleep. *shrugs* Oh well.

Hello

Hello Amber!

Toby eats & then relaxes in his food bowl! LOL That sounds so cute. :D
It sounds like he is doing really well.
