In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My first beardie passed away 2 years ago and I missed her a lot. Finally got the beardie bug though again to get another one. My boyfriend was being a bit of a hold out. He didn't like lizards, said they creep him out. He loves snakes though, go figure. But he didn't like the idea of the claws, teeth, fast movements, etc. I convinced him to let me get one. Someone on a local forum was selling 2 adults (male and female), with a huge tank and all their supplies for $100. I couldn't pass it up. They've never bred, don't plan to try though either. The male has MBD. Its minor, but he has some motor skills problems with walking, he can walk though, he just usually chooses not to. Though he climbs quiet a bit in the tank. He is missing part of his tail and a couple of toes, long ago injuries. The previous owner said he was the 2nd owner. He was very nice, but they had some minor neglect issues. The man had LOTS of kids. One of them was autistic and the others are just loud and rambunctious. They were all telling me how the male is iffy and might try to bite. When one of them tried to pick him up, he puffed and she pulled away. I could deal with it though. I got them home, upgraded their tank quite a bit (all they had was one branch, no hides). I am getting new sand tomorrow. They eat great too. And turns out, the male isn't aggressive one bit. Quite the opposite. He is total chill. I just think all the noise and motion going on there stressed him. We have a quiet house. One daughter, who isn't hyper or obnoxious and is quite involved in the care of our multiple pets. Oh and about my boyfriend and his aversion to lizards....I come home from work one day and he's watching tv with one lizard on each leg. He LOVES them! Spoils them, gives them kisses! He's still not a fan of geckos, iguanas, etc, but he thinks beardies are rocking awesome! :D

Here they are

Like I said, when I got them, they had ONE branch, which the male always took over, so I made sure they had plenty of options now. My boyfriend made them a 2 bedroom condo too!

Thanks Max :) Getting these two now makes me want more. Young ones that I can raise myself like my first, curb things like MBD from developing. Every time I go into a pet store and see the babies they got I purr at the sight of them, lol. But if I do get more, I'll get them at the upcoming reptile show, pick out a morph I've never had before. The silkies are weird. Super weird to me. Which is kinda ironic being I own a hairless cat and see her as perfectly normal lol.

Get repti carpet, sand is bad for them, no matter what kind of sand.. even if its the repti sand stuff they sell.. Repticarpet is the best way to go, when i had my beardies, i had a 55 gallon tank with 30 gallon repticarpet, and a 12x12 tile for the other end. No one suggest sand except pet store people that are just trying to sell it, because its expensive.

I don't do the petstore stuff. I get the play sand, no silica. I used it successfully in the past with my beardie.

sifted play sand is fine I used sand before and had no problems. Many breeders use play sand esspecially for your sized dragons its fine. But its great you want a younger one. I recently purchased another one from a show as well and cant wait until she gets big. you'll end up with alot more trust me I did hahaha. Just watch them if there housed together if there male and female cause if you dont want babies plus it cant be good for the one wit MBD to breed idt?

Hi Crystal...it's nice to see the un-wanted beardies get a caring home. It's easy to see how much you care for them. I was wondering about the set-up, I see a heat light on both sides, just wonder if there is a cool end on the cage. Also, the red bulbs that the stores sell are not good for reptiles, the light is unnatural [ pet stores make a lot of money on useless colored bulbs ] Most long-time dragon breeders will tell you the same. I have been a vendor at reptile shows as far back as the mid nineties and when I ask people about set-ups they often say the pet store clerks tell them they need a red or blue bulb, which is incorrect. Believe me, they especially don't need one at night. My beardies temps. go down past 65 night time in the winter and have for 16 years, with no respiratory infections ever. Other than that...your cage looks great and I know your dragons are in a much better home.

Both lights are on only for the purpose of the camera. Its an Iphone and it was night, the light in the room is low, so I put them both on to get a clearer pic. They had no heat pad, I am buying a new one this week, using the red light till then just to keep a warm spot in the tank at night. But thank you. :)

Hi again Crystal...just a heads up, if you want to save some money. The good news is that an under-tank heater is also completely unnecessary. It cools down at night in the desert.

Underglass heater is not recommended, you've said you've owned beardies before... Even if it is play sand or whatever its not recommended, when they get impacted think of this.

I agree with angie about the red just go to home depot and get an indoor 45 watt halogen they have the same heating capabilities as "heat bulbs" but are like $4 and use less electircity.

I learned after years of posting on animal forums everyone has their right way of doing things. I appreciate suggestions and concerns. I've owned many different species who lived full long lives. I've worked with many exotics from snakes to tigers. I don't claim to know it all but I know what has worked for me and others. So don't take this unkindly, but I cannot and will not follow every suggestion, but like I said I am open to listen. I do the same for others but I'm not gonna get myself in a tizzy either way :)

The day bulb is actually a halogen :)

Hi Siren, this is ebolaoutkast from YT. Thought it was funny, I was reading your thread in the BOI and halfway through I noticed it was you. Although tough break about that nonsense, some people are really pathetic. The dragon's look happy in their new home, I laughed about your bf with the lizards on his knees. I defiantly prefer active slashing lizards over the tame ones though xD
