    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just looking at the facts of my experience(s): (Fact)I ordered a Panther Chameleon from Backwater Reptiles and it arrived healthy and active. (Fact) He ate and drank right away and hasn't stopped ever since. (Fact/Opinion) He has beautiful markings. (Fact) All three emails I sent had a reply response time of between 7-9 minutes.

So I see some bad reviews and I'm not saying things didn't happen that did. I don't want to make excuses for anybody. But there are sooo many variables to consider when running a business, even more so when running one that deals with animals. Especially, a fledgling company. I'll stop there. Back to objectivity.(Fact) I myself have only had a positive experience. I will always check with Backwater when looking for a future reptile, although for me I have what I need right now. (Fact) His name is Tron! (Fact/Opinion) Because he's awesome!(Fact) I am a Sheet Metal worker and a little tech illiterate, I have pics of him on my phone, I will try to get them over to my computer, bare with me.

Plz save any and all hater-ade for a different thread. I'm not trying to piss anybody off, but hey, I got a great pet from the guy. It's been a little over thirty days and I'm sure that if there was a problem I'd know by now :D Jason J. from Everett, WA AKA Pantherchamlover

You went to a bad guy thread and posted this same message on that thread. Then you start a new thread telling people not to post their bad experiences on this one?

Backwater made up a user name on this forum and started a false thread about one of their competitors in 2011. Anyone who would do that wouldn't get my business.

EVEN if they can send out a nice "pet" without zero issues. They are suppose to that regular aren't they?

There are people on this site and within the hobby at large that have been doing this for 20 plus years with very few problems. Those people resolve them professionally and have a great name for themselves.

So save your "variables" for the naive. He is a drop shipper. Sometimes you get something sometimes you don't.

What they did on this site was underhanded and unethical.

I did post that on the wrong thread. And now I'm trying to correct that because I had a good experience. So instead of re-writing my post, I copied, pasted and amended. Big deal. You can't plagiarize yourself. I'm sorry I stated facts and not reposted things from all over and then decided I was high court. Your the judge, jury, executioner type, huh. I had a good experience and wanted to talk about it. Now you want to crucify me? Thx, you yourself seem like a bully. (opinion) The first time I ever post anything on any forum and I screwed up. That's the truth. Leave me be. What's a Moderator? Somebody with some kind of power over Fauna posts. If your somehow connected to them, how and why would you even feel slightly comfortable giving an opinion on anything about anybody? But hey, no big deal, I understand. And with all of your hater thread stuff that you listed how come their Better Business Bureau rating doesn't reflect what you are talking about.

Jason, no one is crucifying you. All these companies have people who have great experiences, but many more that do not than a private breeder. Backwater was extremely slow with replying to me, 9 emails between us in over 2 weeks, and were not at all helpful. Just sample pics, and no guarantees even though I was looking to make a very decent purchase.
 
This is America and we are all welcome to share our opinions. I just think many people including myself would prefer people didn't continue financially supporting a business who has repeatedly shown a lack of customer service and basic animal husbandry.

No one is mad at you. We just disagree. I am very glad your chameleon came in safely and you feel you were treated right. Maybe next time don't start a thread by bringing up the sellers negative reviews and then telling us to save the "hater-ade". You basically said "flame on!"

Well, I'm a member of this site and allowed to post my personal opinion. Has nothing to do with being a moderator.

When I'm posting as a moderator the font of my posts will be in blue.

And with all of your hater thread stuff that you listed how come their Better Business Bureau rating doesn't reflect what you are talking about.

So let's address this "Hater stuff". You said that a couple of times. You say you aren't dismissing others claims but you keep degrading them as just "haters".

If you think it is just a problem with this site how about you just type "backwater reptile reviews" in google and see what you find.

You will see many reviews from all types of forums.
Some good, some bad and some made by backwater themselves under alias.

As for the BBB there is 3 reviews and 11 complaints the last 12 months.

As you can tell the majority of the people who buy reptiles utilize the tools within the community such as the BOI. There are many more reviews, complaints and good acknowledgements on this site in one day than who have ever posted a review with the BBB or used them as a resource for backwater.

What I can tell you is that someone at backwater has used more than one alias on this site to disparage others and to praise themselves.

I'm sure the people who talked about their experiences that didn't go so well appreciated the fact that you stated your review was more objective.


My question is, If you are new to this site why didn't you just post your positive review and leave it at that?

You posted three duplicate posts on this. Started two identical threads on the BOI (One was removed as a duplicate) telling people not to come here and post their "hater-ade".

Why would you have thought they would?
You are acting more like a man on a mission than a customer trying to give a simple review.

If you just would have posted your review it probably would have garnered no extra attention.
 
Hey everyone. Im new to this site, and reptiles in general. I will share my experience, which is truly objective, and possibly relevant.

For about a year I have been trying to decide between the 3 reptiles to keep as a hobby. The choices for me were between beardies, chams, and geckos. Like any noob, I do some research on each animal and decide the beardie is for me.

With that toughest, and what I thought would be the hardest decision finally made. I proceed to google Bearded Dragon Breeders. One of the first ones I found was Backwater. Their selection of animal species seems impressive, however complete lack of individual information, and bottom dollar prices made me skeptical. Also after sending so much time finally deciding on the beardie I did not want to commit to a crapshoot in terms of what dragon I was to receive.

Giving the benefit of the doubt, I ask google for some reviews....
Had a few good laughs.....
Became a member of this forum....

But in the end, it led me to many places where users were discussing similar negative experiences. The response and defense of Backwater seemed hostile and not professional. For those reasons, I chose to stay away from Backwater and when I do find the right dragon I think it will be from one of the great breeders I have found here on this forum. In all fairness I did not purchase anything from the site. Some users may have great experiences from this company. It seems like one in particular...



In fairness, I did not order an anything from Backwater. They may have some good animals, but their just not for me. It also seems like this user may be the same person, or a close relative...
 
I'm assuming the moderators have already done an IP check to see if Backwater has made another fake account? If they did it to bash competitors, no reason they wouldn't do it to boost their own reputation.
