Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Nature Coast Exotics… DISHONEST, DEADBEAT, CONMAN!!!!

Mike,it looks like you have done quite of traveling. Why didn't you go by his shop and see him?It seems to me that people who go by their get paid.Find a good wildlife Lawyer and see what he can do.Marshal Meyers with PIJAC would be a good one. GOOD LUCK RON.

Hey Ron,

What is a “wildlife lawyer”? I would almost bet even Meyers, who you recommend, would want more than the amount Chris Hunter of Nature Coast Exotics stole. Any contact info?

I think at this point, it would be a waste of money and time to track that bozo down at his place. I’m sure I’ll catch him at a show, sooner or later.

Back in Guyana and wanted to report the word on the grapevine. Our trip to the USA was long and full of travel. As always, there was no response from Chris Hunter, of Nature Coast Exotics. On a positive note, I did hear, through a third party, he was trying to sell the caiman he stole from us and told the guy it was so he could pay us off. Although the message was not from the horses mouth, it is along the same lines Hunter was claiming several months ago. Could be actually be trying? We’ve got our fingers crossed he comes through and changes his spots. If so, I'll post it all over and it might help his rep. (??)

While in the USA, many people wrote and asked various questions. It’s no problem getting to this site from the USA and I was glad to hear from so many. From Guyana, with this miserable ISP, it is almost impossible. If you wrote me a private message, please resend it to [email protected] and I will be able to respond.

And this is from September 16th...

"Matt,

I assure you no one is trying to hide from you. Chris explained to you what happened in trying to obtain the items you paid for. Not only was your money lost in that deal, but so was a lot of ours. We are working as diligently as possible to get everyone paid.

We are in the process of getting a check that is going to clear everything up for everyone involved. Believe me, no one wants to be harassed and we don't like the fact that we have had to put peoples money on hold. It was not a choice that we made.

You keep leaving messages and emails...I cannot pay you what I don't have. I am working very hard to get this cleared up. We are not here living it up while you are waiting. I am meeting with my contact persons on Monday. I will have a better idea of the date that everything will be finalized.

If you will please stop harassing me/us, you will be the first person I contact with an answer of a definitive date that you will get your money back.

Thank you in advance,

MJ, Vice President

Visa has paid me in full after I filed the "goods not received" claim with them. They removed the funds from Chris Hunter's Merchant account.

I wish you the best getting your funds back Mike, I have many documents which I can provide from my dealings with Chris Hunter of Nature Coast Exotics should you need them for legal reasons. If you need them please send me an e-mail. Happy Holidays. All the Best.

Kind regards,
Matt Quinn

Hey Matt,

Thanks for posting. You would be amazed by the amount of e-mails I get from people Chris Hunter has conned. Unfortunately, they don’t have the guts to post anything because it’s almost always a deal where Hunter is stringing them along with empty promises of him paying them. They fear if they post, he will not come through. All I have to say is WAKE UP!!! This is a total deadbeat who will claim he has “personal problems,” “business problems,” “legal problems,” “big deals pending” and on and on. He had us going for months also! My wife and I even felt sorry for poor guy, when the hard luck stories started. I’m sure all of that is true but, in my book, it does not excuse him for stalling and eventually not paying. Chris Hunter of Nature Coast Exotics is nothing short of a total deadbeat and lousy conman.

A friend has been trying to purchase the caiman he stole from us and Hunter has backed out of the deal. Worse yet, the looser has his girlfriend backpedaling on his word like crazy. I e-mailed Hunter to ask what he is trying to pull but he, as always, ignored the e-mail.

If anyone is considering dealing with him or his on and off again girlfriend, use extreme caution. How do people like Hunter stay out of jail?

Hi Mike,
I too had been hesitant to post, fearing I would not receive my promised funds. I finally did wake up too! Although good-hearted people like yourself tend to express sympathy for his situation (I too, am guilty of this). I think it's fair to assume that every word out of his mouth is complete bullshit, and all his excuses have been fabricated to defraud good people out of hard earned money. I wish you and all those who are owed by the con-man known as Chris Hunter, and his accomplice Mary Julia, of Nature Coast Exotics, the best of luck and karma.

Kind regards,
Matt Quinn

Wow, that’s “great” Chris Hunter came through when there were a couple bucks on the line. Try a deal worth $4,000-$6,000 like my wife and I did and see if he is trustworthy! Not only did he flat out steal $1,600 worth of animals from us, we had our government licensed quarantine station full to the max. with that guy’s next orders. You try and float him a stack of cash with net 30 terms while you continue to stick your neck out with his future animals. See if that goes “just great”!

Although the massive dwarf caiman are all he has left from the order he shafted us on, we also sent him Anacondas, Redtail Boas, Wood Turtles, Mata-mata Turtles, Scorpion Mud Turtles, Gibbus Side-Necked Turtles, Amevia Lizards, Golden Tegu, Emerald Tree Boas, Rainbow Boas, Colored and Brown Amazon Tree Boas. He was able to sell off all that stuff immediately, for huge markups. Now, he is playing as if he can’t afford to pay us because he can’t sell the caiman? Oh, spare me!

I think it’s awesome he didn’t take your water snake money and move to Mexico, but there is no need to post little cricket purchases and such as if Hunter is some honest businessman. It is almost as if you think doing a simple little transaction is some big deal that makes Hunter stand out in the business world as a trustworthy person.

Mike,

Soon after you posted this particular message, I received an irate call from Mary (Chris Hunter's girlfriend), telling me that the deal was off! She went on to say that you and I were in cahoots and they were no longer willing to sell me the jumbo (Paleosuchus palpebrosus). I told her that I'm sorry they felt that way and that's certainly their perogative. When I first spoke with Chris Hunter, I told him that you and I had been in contact with one another and that it was through you, that I found out about the available caiman. You know, I tried. That's about all I can do. I'll just have to purchase an adult from someone else.

Chris

Hey Chris,

Sorry to hear about that. What does it matter if you and I are talking?!?! It is obvious to the world Chris Hunter, of Nature Coast Exotics, is not able to make the sale on his own so I have been telling EVERYONE who is interested in Paleosuchus palpebrosus it’s best to purchase the ones Hunter has sitting in FL. When I shipped those, they were awesome and perfect animals! Chris Hunter claimed he was not able to sell the caiman and thus could not afford to pay off his bill with us. We have long been curious what excuse he will come up with when they do sell, so we are trying our best to find a buyer and we thought you would be him. The simple truth is he does not want to sell them! You should have posted the rest of the story about how his girlfriend tried to gouge you with an outrageous price increase, which you were willing to pay, regardless of how Hunter posted, ON THIS SITE, he just wanted them off his place and would sell them for the price he agreed to pay us originally -- $200. Of course, Hunter never paid for the animals, anyway.

By the way, I should mention all the prices I am talking about in my posts are wholesale and Hunter retailed the animals for far more. For example, I agreed to sell him the caiman for $200 and he had them advertised for $1,000 when they first came in. Of course, those didn’t sell but who knows how much he made on all the other animals that did immediately sell? Although I can’t imagine anyone thinking Hunter is in the right on this scam job he pulled, no one should feel sorry for the poor guy. He made a truckload off us and still felt the need to rob us!

Now I found a buyer for the animals, Chris Hunter is refusing to sell the stolen caiman because his “girlfriend” claims I am in “cahoots” with a potential buyer. Could someone please explain what the word “cahoots” means to this lady? How in the world can I be in cahoots with anyone I am encouraging to venture into a deal with someone well known for operating with no morals or ethics?

Man, oh, man, what more can anyone do? This team is clearly not trying to right a wrong, like we hoped. Oh well, everyone tried! Thanks anyway, Chris. Again, I’m sorry Hunter backed out but I don’t think anyone is surprised.

JUST FOR THE RECORD…

On 9/5/06, Chris Hunter, Of Nature Coast Exotics, Writes (http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84344&page=3&pp=5)

PAGE #3 of this same thread…

“Mike,

You are right you charged me $200 ea + crate and freight. The freight was $3.10 per pound. How much do they weigh? Do the math.. I EASILY have $250 ea in them not counting the food, meds and housing. I made the offer over a year ago for you to sell the extra males at $250 ea, I will ship them to who ever you sell them to in the US and YOU take the money off the $1600. The offer has and will be good until they are sold as I DON'T NEED OR WANT THEM!!”

Is it just me that thinks this guy’s style of operation is almost beyond belief? One would think if he made a post like that, here on BIO, he would at least stick to that word. What happened there, Chris Hunter or Mary (the girlfriend)? Should Chris (5150cabo) still send me the money, like YOU wrote, and you will give him the animals, like YOU wrote, you said you “DON’T NEED OR WANT”?

We are eagerly awaiting your response…!!

Mike, again I ask when you were travaling the southeast USA then why did you not stop by NC's shop and comfront him? He's 15 minutes from I-75.RON

Ron,

I didn’t think there was a need to answer the question but let’s reason this out together…

If Chris Hunter is not answering his phone, he is not replying to e-mails, he has ignored letters from the BBB and did not answer certified letters from the Guyana Ministry of Wildlife and our attorney, what do you expect me to do? Just show up and pick up the caiman? First, I do not have a facility in FL. Secondly, I am not licensed in FL. Hunter has made it clear he will not release them to me unless I do have a FL license for crocs. Even if he did, what do you expect me to do, carry them around in my pocket while on vacation with my family? Perhaps I could keep them in the trunk of a rental car, next to our suitcases, and drive around the States trying to sell them for Hunter in an attempt to recover some of the funds he and his girlfriend stole? What do you think he is going to start scrambling around for the cash when I show up unexpected? If Hunter ever did say anything even remotely hinting he would make things right if I came by, I would have taken a day and more expense to track him down. Shouldn’t you be asking Hunter why he does not try and meet me? I am the one who has traveled to his backyard. I am the one who got shafted, here. I am the one who made a blanket invitation to anyone willing to go with me and get the animals from Hunter, when I was there a few months ago. He knew when I was just across the state, in Melbourne, and he continued to hide! There is no problem with me finding the time and funds to go over there if there were a chance I would recover any of the stolen animals or owed money.

Am I missing something, here? Did you see a post I missed where Hunter has invited me over? Did I miss something that suggested Hunter would make any attempt to pay me if I flushed him out of hiding? Has anyone heard, even a whisper, Hunter will do anything to correct this mess? Quite the contrary! The only thing we can see from Hunter is the wild, unfounded, accusations and flat out bold-faced lies he posted. His true colors are seen with the even more perplexing stunt he and his girlfriend pulled, yesterday!

If I missed something or some angle where it would be beneficial for me to just pop in and ask him for the money, please let me know. As soon as Hunter says he is ready to pay the money he owes, I’ll make the effort to travel from my house in Guyana, South America to Hunter’s doorstep and pick up the cash. It’s the least I could do for Hunter, right? Great idea, Ron! Why didn’t I think of that?

-Mike/COBRA

Ron,

I reread the post and I apologize for coming off so angry towards you. I didn’t mean for it to sound the way it comes off. It’s just frustrating to deal with Chris Hunter and his “girlfriend” Mary. The truth is my hands are pretty much tied. I have done everything I can to recover the stolen money or animals and Hunter and the “girlfriend,” he is in cahoots with, know it is cost prohibitive for me to continue with legal action and they don’t give a hoot about their criminal stunts being on display as their reputations are already worthless. In my estimation, there is nothing left to do but keep warning people about these two.

Best Regards, Mike/COBRA

It remains very frustrating to try and get any settlement out of Nature Coast Exotics and since they now refuse to sell the stolen animals, as they claimed they would, there is little one can do. I did hear back from our attorney, in Miami, with even more frustrating news. Please read the response below…

Anyone got any ideas?

-Mike / COBRA

After reviewing this matter, I am of the opinion that if you wish to proceed with this claim that you would be better served by obtaining local counsel in the Brooksville area. The next step is to file a complaint since the Defendant failed to respond to my last demand. The distance is just far too great from Miami to warrant the travel expense and time that you would need to pay for me to handle this for you. If you intend to pursue this claim, I would urge you to obtain a lawyer immediately as you can lose the right to bring your claim if a lawsuit is not timely filed. Generally, you have five years from the date of the breach of any contract to bring your claim. I wish you the best of luck with your case. Let me know if you should ever need any assistance in Miami. Thank you.

Mike,

You SHOULD hire a lawyer in the Brooksville or Bushnell area and proceed.

Present all pertinent paperwork and letters from Patrick Russell and correspondance from Chris Hunter to your new atty.

Also contact the Sheriff's office in Brooksville and file a stolen merchandise report.

Also contact Fl. F&W and lodge a compliant and have them inspect his facility, as you suspect their facility doesn't meet the standards of having captive wildlife on the premises. There are probably violations on the premises.

Randal Berry

Thanks, Randal!

Those are exactly the ideas I am looking for. Can anyone recommend an honest attorney who will likely take this case on a percent of a settlement? The $1,600 I keep crying about in the posts is only a fraction of what Chris Hunter, of Nature Coast Exotics cost us. Out station was full, we had animals coming from all over Guyana for next orders, legal expense… It’s a lengthy list!

Please post any thoughts.

Also, after being with our last ISP for years, we were recently forced to change. Please note the new address and contact us at [email protected]

Mike I don't think you'll find an attorney would take this on contingency but hiring one is a good idea...Randy

Hay Randal,

That is pretty much where I figured things would end up. I have already spent more than what Chris Hunter, of Nature Coast Exotics, stole. This is a sinking ship, bro!

I will follow up with the police department, sheriff department and fish & wildlife. I have asked for an official letter from the Guyana Ministry of Wildlife as a supporting document and should pick that up in Georgetown tomorrow.

If anyone else has any ideas, please post them. At this point, Hunter has my stolen animals, he burned us on a holding station full of animals and he claimed, on BIO, he would sell the stolen animals to pay us, but only backed out when I found a buyer! Amazing stuff!

Looking forward to hearing from anyone who has any suggestions.
