In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Natures Spirit Reptiles/Snake Shacks

I think Casey and Darla address the issue very professionally. The flack you are getting has a lot to do with the way you worded, as you said.

I cannot believe how many people are impressed with these racks. I think they suck, This is why I started building racks myself because I think his stink.

Why would people think you are just mentioning it to sell your racks?

Because you plugged yourself.

You said you did not respond until now because

A few years ago, got fined and did not pay my fine for close to a year, been seeing everyweek posts about how great the racks are, decided that someone needs to post how crapy they are, take it like you will, I do not need to down casey to sell anything, just posted my experience just like you did. Sorry you do not like it. I am not happy so why should I pretend to be ?

The suspended member log states you were suspended on 04/19/04 not a few years ago. Just does not seem to add up.

Anyway Casey and Darla handled the situation.

I also believe you are the only one that has complained at all about Casey's product. Just seems strange that the only complaint is from someone who also builds racks.

I gave them the chance to make good back then, Why did they not make good on it then ?????? Why did I not say anything before , because of this right here and now, the slack I get for posting it. I did not want the slack that I am getting.
Recently to me everyone was posting how good the racks were, I have been seeing this in the last couple months so thought it was time to post how mine are.
Now they want to make good !!!!!!!!! wow lets shim them, that will make them look even better then they do now.

And I am not looking down on you but you have to admit if you were just observing you might think the same thing. Good Luck with your new rack.

Well I am sure if there is more people you will not see them post, look what it did for me !
And you wonder why people do not post.

I dug my grave but at least I found out who was pretending to be a freind.

Again, I find it hard to believe that they would just blow you off.

Maybe then you should have thought before you hit the "submit reply" button. I bet you wouldn't have received such "slack" if you had worded your response a little differently. Your sarcastic jabs got you the "slack".

As I implied earlier, it surely doesn't look like you have taken the best care of the racks. What Casey suggested would look a lot better than your newspaper you have under there now.

To bring this thread back on topic, I bought one rack from Casey over the holidays, and have just ordered two more from him in the wake of a couple impulse purchases at the reptile show this past weekend and growth spurts in my "babies." (grow babies, grow!) I could not possibly be happier with Casey's friendly, make-you-feel-like-practically-family style of customer service :) He tried to think of ways to save me money on shipping (I'm picking one of them up but both will not fit in my little Escort). This thread is about racks, but Casey also sells reptiles too, and I have seen how well they are housed and fed, and when I mentioned I finally got the one I bought from him settled enough to eat, he offered to trade me another for her if I wasn't completely satisfied with her! As for the "gap" issue, the rack I have is so flush I had to add extra holes to the tubs to let humidity escape. There is no possibility of an escape on this one! I am now a repeat customer and would wholeheartedly recommend Casey to anyone looking for a rack.

Yup, Just does not add up. you see them offering to fix it now though.
If a fix would have been offered back then, I would have nothing to post about.

Hard feeling for the last 14 months, I believe the first time I used the unit was 15 months ago, I had a escape, thought maybe fluke, then in July 04 had another, in a different unit, (dates could be wrong but my first babies were in Nov.03 and second babies in July 04 )

By then I had posting suspension.

Yup, I drug them down the road to make it look better.( they are a bit dusty, that is all the damage they have gotten ) I took very good care of them except for the dust.

Jim

I did offer a "fix" when you told me you had an escape, I was going to send you some of the same type of plastic but thinner to raise the suspect tub. You declined my offer, I thought that meant you had plenty of materials on hand to fix it yourself. I am just now finding out that you wanted a whole new rack. I may have replaced it even though it was 6 months old but you did not make yourself clear.

Casey,

Personally I wouldn't even take the time to respond to this thread anymore, Everyone here knows that your products are quality products and If there was any problem with them you'd be on the ball trying to resolve the problem. Thats because you have something called character & ethics! Unlike some others you run into from time to time.

Keep up the good work!

Casey & Darla

I just received my 2nd incubator from Casey today and am very pleased. I asked Casey to build it to my demensions and he did a great job. I can't say enough about his work and customer service. Based on this thread I don't need to. Thanks Casey for a great job.. Ron Radloff

We're expecting our second shortly. Very good products.... Well manufactured, and quick shipping. Definately faster than most would expect for custom jobs....

I would like to make a suggestion for a new incubator product. I would love to have a couple of incubators the size of a large standing refrigerator and/or freezer. I would probably be willing to even pay shipping on such a thing.

I have seen some excellent web sites that explain in vast detail how this can be done very inexpensively to the builder by using discarded refrigerator and/or freezers. Maybe you could make a profit building such incubators with the Helix Thermostat (my favorite.)

If shipping was out of the question, then you could build these incubators and truck them to your more local shows. I am willing to bet that any builder bringing these incubators to a large show would sell out every time!

Thanks for reading this!

Large Hibernation Unit Using the Same Product.

I have just seen people in the Leopard Gecko Discussion Forum asking about hibernation units for their snakes(just a wee off topic! :)).

You could manufacture a hibernator using the same discarded refrigerator and/or freezer using an aquarium chiller, an aquarium water pump, and some tubing or piping. I started out as a tropical fish enthusiast and hatchery worker. The fish people are currently light-years ahead of us reptile guys in the application of technology. The products I mentioned are now widely and inexpensively available in the tropical fish magazines and websites. Please see Tropical Fish Hobbyist Magazine and also Freshwater and Marine Aquarium Magazine for an interesting overview of advanced animal technology.

This unit would allow for humidity control because the defroster would be inactivated. I think you could also sell a lot of these hibernation units!

To an unnecessary extreme. The aquarium hobby is either 40 year old technology or a bunch of overpriced unnecessary doohickeys and gadgets, and even that stuff is usually old technology. What more light years ahead technology could the herp world use? I believe you overestimate the demand for refrigerator sized incubators and hibernators. That's just my opinion though.

You are talking about what you don't know about...agreed, the post was off topic...but, the aquarium trade is waaaaaay ahead of the herp realm...it is kind of funny, to watch trends develop in the herp trade that were done a few decades ago in the fish market...like watching videos on CMT and laughing at their simplicity...

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you knew me or have been to my house. I've had FW, SW and Reef tanks for longer than I've been breeding snakes (10 years).
So tell me what all this great technology from 20 years ago is just now coming to the herp industry. When I first got into reef tanks, I bought into that great technology, most of it is a waste of money, or just for showing off, kind of like the techno dweebs who have all the latest technology. I went to nothing but a skimmer and a few additives on my reef tank and it is much better now than when I had over $4000 worth of the latest trend stuff hooked up to it.

Gosh ! TEN years !!!! WWWOOWWW !!! LOL...triple that perhaps, and we will be talking in the same league.

What are you talking about? So, you don't believe in counter current skimmers??? Hey, who needs dentrification ??? New filter media? "Heck, never heard of it...I have been an EXPERT for TEN YEARS !"

Please...write about what you know.
