In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Need help with a cornsnake. I have an adult male that every inch of this snake is sunken in. He is also very limp when I pick him up. Looks like he has never eaten in his life, yet he is fed EVERY week. This started happening about a month ago, I moved him into quarenteen area, doubled the feed, but he is getting worse by the week (I was cooling him to breed next spring and checked on him when I found him not doing well.) .

He is not dehydrated, no mites, no respiratory infection, no bites, nothing that would show a problem. At least not something like this. Every other snake in my room is fine. Even his cagemate (he is now separated from ALL other snakes). The only thing different is I put him with a new female this year..but she is fine. I will be contacting vet but would love to know what might be going on with him?

Thanks...Harpy

The snake did pass this week.

Vet could not find something to pinpoint reason..said it might be cancer or a disease he got from feeder mice..which is not possible since I freeze my own mice...

Whatever the problem he went from normal weight to loss of all muscle and fat in just 2 months. (was literally just skin and bones) No parasites, not underfed..in fact I kept feeding him even after there was little hope..ate and pooped just fine. Wish I could afford a necropsy (sic)

Some snakes get stressed by having a cage mate. My condolences on the passing of your snake.

Thank you. I'm thinking he might have gotten something from the female I bred him to...first time with that snake. nothing else changed for him in the 5 years I've had him. I wish I knew what happened to avoid it the next time.

Its possible that the new female you acquired could be carrier of some virus or parasite, it wouldnt hurt to have her checked out by a vet. As far as feeders go, the freezing process does not necessarily mean they are completely sanitized, pathogens can go dormant and become resistant to temperature fluctuations, so do not rule that out.
