    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am sure that John wanted that star and everything would have been just FINE and DANDY if you sent him a healthy animal.

You would have given him his money back if he just said that he didn't want it because it wasn't for him.....Bulls~!*..........Talk is cheap....It's easy to say you would do this or that, if this or that is not what is being said......John is well within his right for a refund.

John, I am sure that you purchased the animal after seeing it on KS...If I were you, I would turn him in to KS for selling sick animals off of their website.....Dave, you should do the same thing...If Jeff B., get enough complaints about rip-off artists like Neil he will ban him from the site!

It all comes out little by little. I knew Neil couldn't stay out of trouble for too long. You are what you are and it only takes time to prove it. In my opinin as I have always thought Neil is a thief, cheat, lier and a swindler. There is always controversey when he is involved. Store break ins which were lies and a report was never posted to support that. Donations which were made to help catch the supposed thieves, which I gave to. Lies on top of lies. He was the first to be banned from this BOI. Why do people still keep trusting this guy. I have not posted on here in months. I have visited once in a while. Now I check back and Neil is still at it.

Neil take your own advice you give to everyone else,

"do the right thing"

Rob, That is not what I meant to imply, I meant that you are always Neil's most staunch supporter(and have been for a long time), and I know you are a friend of his, and I thought you might have some insight into why he treats his customers so poorly.
I am certain that You have good healthy animals. And if there was ever a problem I am sure your customer service is first class.

Last week was without a doubt the worst in the year for shipping reptiles. There were delays in countless airports as well as record low temperatures all over the board. I know you take pride in your shipping practices, but undoubtedly there was something beyond your control that played you a trick last week.

Had the animals that died on transit this past week survived, don't you think they might have been candidates to develop an URI?

This is for all of us. Next week is supposed to be very cold again. It would be advisable not to ship unless absolutely necessary (and I don't know why that would be). As buyers there is nothing we need so urgently as to risk the health of the animals being sent to us. As sellers we are the ones that have the final decision if it is reasonably safe or not to ship.

Yes I did buy a snake from Neil, and it was in good shape, packaged funny but, hey it came to me in good shape and warm and the pack was still working. I have heard also a lot of good about Neil.
I am not going to speak for Davey, but I know he has said in the other thread that his snake was beautiful and packaged correctly.
It is one thing to complain about someone, it is another to just bash them like that.
Lets keep name calling out of this and just stick to the facts, K?

It is exactly what I have felt from the begining of all his acts on the BOI. You state on the BOI what you feel the need to do and I shall do the same.

I can not speak for Neil or why he has his policies and when and why he acts on them.
I never said the Tortoise did not have a URI. All I did was state facts. The Tortoise did not eat when it arrived to him. This is not that uncommon in reptiles after a cross country shipping experience. Yes lack of appetite can be caused from a URI as well. The notification about the URI was after the 24 hour period had expired.
I hope the animal gets better quickly and gets back to normal. Like I said before it should be seen by a qualified Vet and treated accordingly.
As far as the diagnosis made by Justin, the only way of determining Mycoplasma is with the proper tests done by a Veterinarian. I have Vet's that are friends and can not make a determination if an animal has Mycoplasma without test even after seeing them in person . So I think you are better off not trying to make a diagnosis such as this online. It is best left up to a qualified Vet who can see the animal in person and can do the proper testing. Also I would hate to see someone get into trouble for making a diagnosis when they do not have the background, License, or documentation from testing.

You shipped during the one of the worst weeks of the year. You shipped against the customers preference.
Bottom line He is unsatisfied. He deserves a refund. You are always preching to people. Yo say no one has a problem with anything you ship. I know of two people....well three now. In the past everything went great.....there were no complaints. So Neils customer service was excellent.

But we also see Neil have three problems. Those same three problems ...he is stubborn about doing the right thing.

Franlky I do not care what someone does when everything is going right.
What I care about is what someone does when something goes wrong.

Do as he says but not as he does.

BTW.... Rob, those emails are basically intact.... as soon as he wrote me that FIRST email, I KNEW I was going to have trouble.... But, it's alright, I KNOW he's got a healthy Star!
So you knew he was unsatisfied and there was gonna be trouble because you are gonna refuse him a refund. GOT IT !!!
Refund the momeny and do the right thing and their won't be any trouble.


John is one of the good guys. I have had the pleasure of acquiring some of his animals. They are all good healthy animals with no mites or other cooties. One of them is mating with my het albino as we speak. (Wish the salmontine would have tagged her instead)
John...the animals I got from you are doing excellent.

This thread just gave me more reasons to never deal with Neil. Originally, I wouldn't buy from him simply because his prices are insane. I wrote that off as "expensive customer service". Now I see that is not the case! I see no customer service here, just a reseller that has an attitude problem. Does it make it OK to say "That's just the way I am"?

I don't think I could handle dealing with a seller that is as pushy as Neil. As many of us have seen over and over... It's Neil's way or nothing. Side with Neil, or be the outcast.

Neil's camp is one I will not be joining... To all his followers - Where are you now??
 
Neil, you need to make this right. I've read a lot of this BOI, and you talk a lot about keeping customers happy-- now why won't you do it? I have had dealings for what to me was a lot of money with John Martino and it went nothing but smoothly. (It was also with cold weather shipping-- he wanted to wait until it warmed up, and surprise, the animal is here, healthy and awesome!) I seriously doubt he would lie about the tort having a resp. infection. What good would that do? I agree with what many others have said, 500 bucks isn't worth the bad press for anyone. Do the right thing and take back that tortoise!!

Its is strange how feel that you are entitled to throw tantrems and cancel a guarantee at any moment. What does this persons attitude have to do with you shipping a tortoise when the customer wanted to wait? What does his attitude have to do with the customer not being happy and wanting his money back? If you are so positive that the tortoise is healthy and fine... Why not take it back and find a happy customer? I dont know what you could be labeled as other than "Bad Guy" after your last post.. There are way too many variables that might be going on with you at any one time to even ever consider making a purchase. O.K. I better like the animal, I better hope that it is well packed, hope that you did not feed it the night before shipping, hope it is the right sex, and pray it does not have URI. Otherwise I will be completely ridiculed by your superiority and I will be made to look like a fool on the BOI because you are a major player here. Or, I could possibly make up some other sickness and try and lie about the RI or URI so that way you dont think I'm scamming you??? I would say that I would rather head to Vegas than take those odds.
As far as the BOI goes, it has allowed Neil to act this way and justify at least to himself and his supporters out there. If a problem did arise, there would be a whole bandwagon of people jumping down anyones throat who dared go against Neil. It would take pages of debate to get a refund on a mis-sexed snake. Still no refund, and he said he will get around to it? Was it sipper tubes that Neil was selling? ;-) Like I've said before I Love the BOI and I look at it everyday and find it very entertaining. But one thing I've noticed nooone likes to admit the semi-mob mentality going on. That is what scares people away from the BOI and gives Neil the ability to act like any of the bad guys that get torn apart here. He is clearly a less than perfect shipper, remember the rabbit in the Burm. But noone found that too odd, although I found it horrible. Remember another fellow shipping without paperwork? He was Neils friend and since this was the case, he must of just made a mistake. But in no way should either of them be responsible for these mistakes and do nothing to correct them. I always see people wanting answers to question and really get heated over the need to start answering questions. I asked a few questions before and not 1 of the supporters for Steve or Neil ever answered my questions in that instance.
"What is the correct legal way to resolve a seller sending you an animal without paperwork. What should be done? What should the buyer do? What should the seller do?"
This is releveant here because I'm trying to show you how someone who is considered very respectful among this board can act and has acted for a long time. Due to the amount of friends he has here he continually can act this way and have people back him. Questions will remain unanswered and guarantess will be thrown out. Refunds will never reach their destination and the whole time noone is really worried about it.

I thought maybe your name was brought up originally, because you seem to be the biggest supporter of Neil. I always see you jump to his defense, even when sometimes it is questionable. In your first post here you basically told the guy he was out of luck because he did not say he was unhappy (although he said he was not eating) and that he should have posted on one of the other threads. So although this guy definitely deserves a refund your initial response was that he does not. Also, teling him he shouldve placed this in a different thread, which is not true, because this a whole new bad guy experience. If you are going to help Webslave enforce the rules, it should be straight across the board and not just in Neils situation. Because Neil is your friend you saw it from his side and that was that. I think friends like that are what everyone needs, but on the public forum, you being a respected herper, could scare away people who want to put in their 2 cents. I truly believe that your animals are healthy and you have displayed plenty of knowledge here and are needed, but that is how I see it sometimes with you (and others) in relation to Neil.
Just "Do the Right Thing" Neil. Its not worth being labeled a bad guy, and I do think that if he was labeled such and no longer around on this board, that it would lose some entertainment value. Maybe I shouldve just slept in instead of posting here, haha.

First off I am not here to either defend or condem Neil. I have only purchased from him one time and everything went well. I just want to say that because of Neils posts in here on many different threads I have come to think of him as one of the truely honorable people. With over a hundred animals currently in my collection I have not had any need for any thin gnew, but Neil I still always check every add you place just in case there is something I need or want. I just wanted to say because of your responses to many sellers telling them to do the right thing I have considered you to be perhaps the one person I would buy from with no hesitation. Iam truely concerned by your response to this thread though. I only read it to see what I expected was going to be a situation that would be quickly handled with all parties being satisfied. Please Neil don't allow those of us who have believed in you loose faith in what many of us believe is one of the real good guys. This only gives those who oppose you amunition by which to slam you and make you look like a hypocite. Be the good guy that I and many others believe you are and just take the tortoise back even if you feel it is wrong. You have already convinced me that that is what I should do if the situation ever arises. Good luck with this issue.

I have a few things that stuck in my craw about this thread so here goes ........ One is that you have a beautiful tortoise and all you are feeding it is romaine ?, you know better than that Neil ! Two is that it shouldn't matter if someone pushed your buttons or not ! If that person is entitled to a refund or an exchange they should get it regardless of whether you like doing it or not and within a reasonable timeframe, not when you good and ready ! Three is that when John notified you within the 24 hour period the tortoise was not eating ( for whatever reason ) that in itself should extend the 24 gaurantee period, because it should not matter if the apetite went away due to shipping or not, it is still a sign of a POSSIBLE problem and also a possibly unhappy customer and a possibly sick animal. With all the weather problems anything is possible and you should be more forgiving to your customers and of your animals. Four is that if the customer wasn't comfortable with you shipping why did you risk that animals health and push the situation ? I have waited weeks for an animal myself and Neil you know me and how anxious I get, but you have to have that animals best interest in mind at all times. And last but not least, John did the right thing and notified you when he received the animal and let you know that there was some concerns with the animals health. Your attitude was entirely wrong ! You immediately took a defensive posture and put him down for coming to you with this information, which is what he is supposed to in order to comply with the rules of YOUR gaurantee. Neil, this is not the way to do things and you know it. Now in your defense I think it is wrong for this name calling to be allowed no matter if it opinion or not I think there are better ways to express yourself than to call someone names. Neil I'd like to hear from you on this.

Thank you Neil. And also I would like to thank Rich Z. It shows how valuable this BOI really is. Sometimes tempers flare but in the end the good guys always do the right thing and the bad guys remain bad.

well so he doe's it again.i would have stayed out of this other than the e-mail i got from neil friday.i asked a very simple question and he tells me it's none of my business so stay out of it and don't bring it up here on the boi.but anyway here he goes again.he rants and raves,throws his little fit,and says foget it.it's past 24 hrs.i find 24 hrs to be a joke myself but thats my opinion. neil sends animals out in fridgid weather killing a few this week and who knows how many others will come down sick in the next week.so now the 1st one shows symptoms of sickness and ohh well it's past 24 hrs.i guess it should have came in dead then neil MIGHT have done someting about it.i really doubt if he would have.it was good when it left here so i know it's fine you just don't want it anymore.i have seen a few post where neil uses this excuse to not fix his wrongs.he sends snakes out that have just eaten.everyone knows this is wrong but he can still make the buyer look bad.and lets not forget neil after much whining and crying agreed to pay davey back last time for neils mistake.and then everyone jumped on the we knew you would come around and do the right thing neil .well it's been 3 weeks and still no refund to davey.why doe's everyone immediatly start the ohhhh good job neil we knew you would do the right thing.NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE YET.i must admit i am shocked to see some of the posts against neil from what i considered the neil clann.i think everyone needs to open there eyes and see the true neil.he is not in this for the animals.he is not in this for the customer.he is in this for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$.nothing else and he never will be.it is ok to make some money at this but it is not ok to screw people around when it doe's not go your way or you don't like it.not every customer is going to be happy 100% of the time and everyone knows this but you don't try to make the customer look badd and accuse him of trying to get to you just because he is not happy.
