    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

GTP's can be sexed by "experienced" herpetologists or breeders. NOT BY PROBING!!! If you take your time and are careful you can get a hemipene to evert with light thumb pressure.

Scott...gee I though I was dealing with big green corn snakes for years??? I quite aware of the risks and agree with most of the pre-cautionary statements that are due when sexing this and other aboreal species. Even I do not recommend it to most. Due caution is of course a must.
 
I always love when certain people post how many years they've been in the business. I just wonder how many other people understand the implications.

neil you have no room to chine in on this subject since you couldnt even sex a snake if it's hemipenes were hanging out slapping you in the face.....
 
neil, totally off topic here but, do you use that rapier like wit of yours to shave or just in your futile attempts to cut other people down? Because if you are using it to shave and failing half as miserably at that as your attempts at wit are failing here, then your face must be cut to shreds ALL THE TIME.

I am going to come out and say straight up that I fully support Neil. Many people may misunderstand my posts because I have a somewhat unusual sense of humor.
Neil replaced an expensive snake without any problem period.
Let me give everyone a background on the local Tampa Bay scene. Nobody fears that Neil is going to break into their house and hurt them or rip them off. Neil is known as a harmless guy; another person who is working hard to make a go in the reptile industry. Unlike a lot of people that I am sure we all have known, I know of nobody who is out to beat Neil's ass in revenge for some big rip-off.
About Neil's advertising, it is my firm opinion that in this era, you will make much fewer sales unless you post colorful ads; and therefore you and your business starves. Thank you for reading this!

One thing, though.... don't give the dissenting remarks any credence at all.... non-entities (remember??), they won't have any effect on your business what-so-ever, so just let them flap their lips to their heart's content, and have fun with it.... I do....

I'm glad you reposted that email.... so NOW when you read it, you'll see I WASN'T referring to the SITE itself.... I was referring to SOME of the people ON the site (and NOT you, Rob.... lol).... and, what do you know???.... It STILL holds true today!!....and it's non-entities like you, Wes, who keep it true!.... thanks for proving me correct!....

If used correctly, this site is one of the BEST vehicles for the safety of the buyer and seller in the reptile community.... it's just too bad that a couple of simple-minded people keep bringing it down to the third grade level.... it's really a shame....

This should be a thread in regards to Neil but, I will respond to a few things. When someone notes thelength of time they have been in a particular business it's to denote success. Success due to a number of things...Ethics, morals, business savy, education and experience. When it comes to the animal trade a genuine love and respect for the specimens in your care or studies should come hand in hand. I say SHOULD! If this came off wrong in some way I apologize. I was asked if "I" had published any books? My reply no. However, to give my statements some credence I list a portion of my experience. Does this make me an expert? No. No one knows everything about any one species. A good deal about them, yes. I also commend anyone that specializes in a particular species only. You can gain insights that others might miss. If on top of this they can publish a lengthy manuscript or book... great! I was up at 2:30AM and just finished now at 12:30AM. That is why "I" haven't had time to publish anything lengthy. This is typical for me. I'm not in this to get rich or gain fame. It's simply what I love to do. Now..in the quote from Seamus the word "recommend" is used. It does not say that it's impossible or no one can do it properly. Certain species I still have some difficulty sexing 100% accurately. Some i've done so many times I can sex visually. This technique works for me. Does this make the book wrong? No. Does it make me wrong? No. Do I agree with recommending not to evert the hemipenes in GTP neonates with tactile pressure? Yes I agree in most cases it shouldn't be done. Anyway enough of that arguement. We can agree that we simply have different opinions and both sides have been successful. In regards to the little comment about me only breeding GTP's 6 times in 30-40 years... Before, you jump the gun please try to use some bit of respect. It's just my opinion but, I would have asked questions and then went on the attack. The answer to your question...???? I worked for about 2 years to finally get breeders that I felt were acceptable quality.(This was quite a while back.. very few captive borns as of that time period) The following 7 years I was able to get successful breedings. The group suddenly had to be sold along with a large portion of my collection due to a divorce and a very bad auto accident. I was down for almost 18 months. I simply have not replaced them because I have many other interests and challenges. I would like to start working with GTP's on an in-house basis again however, the morphs/localities I have a serious interest in are rather high in price. I'm sure many who work with GTP's have that problem! So many incredible specimens out there! LOL's! So it seems my ratio/percentage was not so bad? Now can we possibly drop the GTP sexing/husbandry/breeding responses to this thread and get back to what this was origionally about? Seamus, I have no problem with that publication and or the credentials of the author. Simply a different view on a few things. Anyway, goodnight and good luck in everyone's ventures! Ray G. It looks like I was contradicting myself with the above "7 years I was able to get successful breedings", statement. One year I had no viable eggs. Ray you sure like to hype yourself up, but there are people that remember what you were really doing all those years ago. Fortunately those people are much bigger than you would ever dream yourself to be, and have no need to ruin your fabrications.
