In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

New server anomalies?

Anyone getting a substantial number of those red "X" displays when a graphics image isn't displaying on your browser? I've been seeing a fair number of them, and my SerpenCo.com site is basically blitzed with errors.

So things are degrading on this server and I'm not feeling real good about it.

So if it takes a dump COMPLETELY, at least you will know what's going on.

Where the hell IS my Excedrin bottle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everything seems to be working on my end. I can see both html and attachment photos. Can you link a few of the threads your having problems with. I may just be looking at unaffected threads.

Are the affected threads newer older, or both?

Try taking a look at my http://www.SerpenCo.com website. Click on the various culticars say in the 2007 Baby Corn Snakes section. Intermittently I will get a FORBIDDEN screen that hoses things up. Some other people on CornSnakes.com are getting the same thing when they go to that site.

Further, I got a FORBIDDEN screen when I tried to display the MORE smilies when composing a post on CornSnakes.com. These are all on the same server, and it appears to be a server wide problem. To rule out a router somewhere causing the problem, I would like to see what other people from different locales see. I think it's the server, but I have to humor the tech who asked me to do this.

The Serpenco site definitely has issues.
I can open the main page fine almost every time. I went to the 2007 babies section and started clicking on various types. About the fourth one brought up the forbidden page. At that point the problem seemed to multiply. Hitting the back button initially took me back to the 2007 list. After another 403 or two the back button took me to another 403 page. Finally the only way to get back to where I was was to come back here and get back to the main page through the link you posted.
A click or two later and I was back in the loop of forbidden pages. Following the link you posted several times started resulting in the occasional Forbidden page in place of the main page as well.
I also repeatedly clicked on the link for Amber corns, which worked fine to begin with. The tenth click or so got me a 403 page.
I can't see a pattern to it, but the more I tried, the greater percentage of pages became forbidden.

Just so you know, the Forbidden problem has apparently propagated to this site.
I had to hit the submit reply button for the above post 8 or 9 times to get it to go through. It also affected my ability to go anywhere on this site for several seconds. Or at least everything I clicked got me a 403 error for a short time.

No issues on my end here in Phoenix Rich. I've been on, and posting, with no problems since the site came back up. I will let you know if anything does start happening.

I have seen the missing graphics a couple of times this morning.

I had no problem creating and responding to a new thread in the "Testing" forum.

My first post was from testing the site from work. I just had the same 403 error on the Serpenco site from home.
I've also had the issue on Fauna from here at home.
I'm in western NC.

Except when I just posted the above, got plenty of problems just trying to get the post up and now the karma, my yahoo logo and avatars are messed up with red X's.
Lets hope I can reply this time without trying about 8 times to get it up.

just wondering, not sure if this was in another thread, but i had problems accessing the site a few days ago. It was if the site was down, and i could not access for about a day or two in a row?

No problems now though... *shrugs* i was worried for a bit that something had happned to my preciousssssss... LOL
**EDIT**
Nevermind, i found out in other threads that you made the server move!

Congrats on it going smoothly! Ive been really out of the loop since my computer decided to die. Its either my power supply not giving out the right voltages, or my Mother board, or my old 80G HD.... Not sure yet, the mastermind is trying to fix it up for me as we speak.

if its the mobo, i might be out of comission for awhile :( Till i can save up enough to buy a new one, and at that point, i may just sell all the old stuff and just upgrade to SATA.

So, yeah, no problems over here! YAY for new servers!

Man, it's really going to suck BIG TIME if I have to roll back to the old server. But if my SerpenCo site is not operational by Sunday night, that's the only route open to me.

How many people are seeing many of those red "X"s here for non-displayed graphics? For all the hardware power of this new server, there is just NO way that should be happening....

Rich - I haven't been doing a whole in the way of exploring the site recently, but the only red Xs I have come across were while finishing up the maintenance on the Leopard Gecko classifieds --but those were all old threads, and I was finding some before the switch. I did manage to get that error (403) message once. I also took a brief look at Serpenco, and did see quite a few of the red Xs there (this was Friday night, I believe)

It looks like this problem may have been fixed. Apparently some security module they installed was the culprit. At least on my SerpenCo site. I also enabled GZIP here to see if that would cure those red "X"s. On old ads, probably the source of the photos was actually gone, I would think.

This crap gave me a migraine headache yesterday evening........ Maybe this is over with, or at least THIS particular problem....

I checked the photo gallery and couldn't log in to it either. Normally when logged into the main site you're also logged in to your photo gallery.
Currently the main gallery page shows that you need to log in. It thanks you for logging in then sends you back to the main gallery page where you are not actually logged in after all.

It has been running fine around here for me now. It was only after I visited Serpenco that I came back and had problems. Since then it has been fine, although I haven't checked out the gallery.

Same goes for me.
