In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This guy responded to my search of a breeder male shtctb saying he had a pair he was selling for $70 + shipping. Also said he had a female hypo, and a baby hypo x mack snow, that he could throw in if i'd like since they did not fit his projects this year. I was told the shtctb were of breeding age and weight and if i planned to breed them he'd repair them. I explained yes I planned to breed them, he told me the female just laid a clutch and he would re pair them. We had kept on and off contact for almost two months while waiting for weather to warm up. Through this time, he sent a few photos of the baby but none of the bigger ones. When the weather finally broke, I contacted him about shipping. He said that he could ship the next day and that the baby was big enough to ship also. He sent pics of them all, stating that the shtctb just laid a clutch and was on the skinnier side. Looking at the photo she appeared skinnier but I figured I could just feed her extra when she got here. When I asked for weights he stated him did not have weights on any of them.

Two days later they arrived. Arrival weights were terrible for the ages he gave me. Male shtctb, will be 2 in august weight 49 grams, Female shtctb, will be 2 in august 28 grams & gravid, Female hypo, turned 1 in february 30 grams & gravid ( which i did not ask him to pair her to anyone), and gender unknown mack snow x hypo, 6 weeks old 5 grams. Aside from them being under weight, I noticed the shtctb female had cuts all over her, when questioned he said if was from pairing her and the male every few days. The hypo female has a birth defect on her arm, which I was uninformed of preship. When questioned first he didnt know what i was talking about, then when i sent a pic he told me she was born with it. Lastly, the hypo/snow couldnt walk!!! Yup he just slithered around and could not stand on his hind legs. When I asked if he had always walked the way he was, I was told he was fine before shipping so he couldve gotten hurt during shipment. Two days later hypo/snow was still unable to walk so i contacted my vet. After vet bills and xrays the vet confirmed he was born with mbd. He did not have born mass in the lower half of all four of his limbs and his spinal cord was extremely thin. I also explained to her about the shtctb female and she recommended reconsidering keeping her eggs if she was that small since one of them would not be getting enough nutrience to both survive healthy.

I contacted him about taking the hypo/snow to the vet and how he was born with this and it was not from shipping and was told that what i said is offensive and pretty much continued to lie about him having mbd. There was no sorry for not informing you, no let me pay some of the vet bills, no refund of funds paid for sick unhealthy geckos. Just told me i was wrong and stopped messaging me. I now have 3 sick leos on my hands that I need to get back into healthy condition before I can do anything else with them, and an mbd baby who will have vet bills the rest of his life because this guy lied and never informed me of all the problems with them.

Those poor animals. Especially the females and that baby. :( I hope nobody else sells to or buys from someone who would neglect them so badly (and then sell them off without disclosure and try to pass blame to shipping for that poor baby's condition). I believe he likely went ultra-cheap on their diets. No supplementation and low on the mass and frequency of food provision as well.

As for the eggs, nutrients could have been adequately shuttled to one, both, or neither. You cannot know until the animals have hatched. I would not give up on the eggs.

I would make sure to get those girls (and the guy) eating mineral-dusted and protein-laden Caloric foods to the best ability you can. I would supplement with Miner-all (the indoor formula). I am sure you are already deep into that sort of plan, though.

Best of luck with these animals and thank you kindly for the warning. I no longer work with leopard geckos, but this needless suffering is saddening.

Those poor animals!

I hate to say it, but with the extent of the baby's mbd, it's quality of life will be very decreased. I am surprised the vet did not recommend euthanizing; I would recommend you do so.

Feed everyone high calcium, high mineral diets, rich in proteins.

Glad to see you took my recommendation and posted here where he will have a permanent black mark.

Also I would not recommend euthanizing. He could turn around. I think maybe he could build stronger bones with the right supplements. We already discussed on facebook that maybe if his bones strengthen maybe they could amputate the parts of the limbs with no bone so he's not tripping over them and can move around better. But that's something she and the vet will need to discuss. I think he's worth trying to save. Many animals have lived well after amputation, he only needs to build stronger bones and since he's so young I think he can with the right supplements.

Oh my god- Look at their tails! They're not even close to being fat- you can see how thin their bodies are, too.
I would be ashamed of myself for neglecting these animals, much less selling them to people.
Imagine putting them through the stress of shipping when they aren't even properly cared for in the first place.
Looking at your pictures of the baby, ANY person in their right mind could tell that's not something that freakin' developed during shipping- Sooooooo he just LOST HIS BONES during shipping????? His bones dissolved in transit!?

Thank you for posting about this awful breeder- I actually have been actively searching for a healthy LG for my boyfriend, and taking the time to read the reviews saves everyone a lot of grief. I could never support this man for neglecting these animals as horribly as he's done.
As bad as they've been treated, at least they're in the care of someone who knows what they're doing... they're better off with you.
I am so hurt for these poor guys.

This is absolutely horrible! Thank you very much for sharing and warning everyone!
Hopefully we wont see anything on fauna or anywhere else from him, but also i am very upset thinking about all the Leos in his possession at this Moment.

update

Thank you to everyone who wrote. I had no idea there were comments or I would have responded earlier. Anyway, the 1 female is doing great, the adult male is stable and doing well. I still haven't got him to shed but hopefully soon. The other female is still doing terrible but is crypto negative, upped her wormer does so hopefully she will get past this. And as for the baby... he is doing amazing. I will attach update pics. :)

I'm very surprised to read that you would recommend euthanizing so fast with out even trying. I'm also glad that I never considered that as an option. Just because he will always be small or because he may occasionally need help doesn't mean his quality of life is any less. He is an amazing little guy and if I get 1 year or 10 years with him I will be glad to have gotten that time.

Not sure why my post is quoted along with the other post that recommended euthanasia (since I did not).
Regardless, I am glad you did not choose that option.
Also, it is really nice to see that the geckos are improving.:)

Thank you! And I'm not sure either, nor am I sure how to fix it. It took me awhile to figure out how to get the posts attached to start.

I am glad he is doing fine for you.

My recommendation was made on years of experience and the quality of life most animals with severe MBD suffer through.

Thank you. I'm sure he will never be perfect. And I am sure in most cases that would be the correct advice. We had a vet follow up who said his tendons and muscles where there is no bone have harden from the amount he is using his legs and that all of his bones except his lower jaw and front legs have harden from last month. Hopefully he will continue on this road and live a semi normal life, if not then I will cross that path when it happens.
