• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

It dispels the myth that they won't eat while sitting on eggs and you have to remove the eggs to get them back up to weight after laying.
 
It doesn't dispel anything imo, it's pretty common knowledge that they will eat small meals while on eggs.
I personally prefer to control the eggs in an incubator, it's just too easy, but to each their own.
 
Jerry, there is a ton of info out there that does say that females will not eat if on eggs. :) Thanks for the pic Steve, that may help nudge me a little closer to maternal incubation.
 
BPs have never been big on reading the manuals...I think they have a marked comprehension deficit, so they don't bother. My suggestion would be not to bother trying to educate her, Steve. If she wants to eat while she's sitting on her eggs, just let her.
 
You try and go that long without eating!

While we take away the eggs and put them in an incubator we had something similar happen this year. We had checked for eggs in the morning as I normally do. The wife was starting to feed our snakes when I got home from the job that pays the bills. She had just opened the tub a little and put a medium rat in. When we were going back through tubs making sure everyone had ate, she opened the tub to find the girl sitting on a clutch of 10 eggs and the rat no where to be found! We removed the eggs and cleaned the cage with no sign of the rat ever found!

Actually it's not. There is a lot of info out there stating that females will not eat while sitting on eggs. This shows they will eat. The whole, clean everything, replace the substrate, wash the female, etc to get rid of the smell of the eggs or she won't go back to feeding after laying is a misconception.
 
Well, I guess the general concensus from the forum "experts" (not just here but on other sites) is that this photo is nothing special. Sorry! I thought it was a cool picture.

I do think the photo is pretty kewl, and oh boy do I understand misconceptions, the hobby is full of them....

I'm talking about people who saw the photo and said "yeah, so what, she's eating". These people act like there are photos posted everywhere with snakes eating while on eggs.
This girl never left the eggs. Struck, coiled and ate and kept the eggs wrapped the entire time.
I thought it was unique. Guess I'm the minority in that regards.

I wouldn't say it's a misconception. All my females will not eat after I take the eggs, clean or not, for a variable amount of time. It's not until after they forget and quit searching for them that they eat again. I think cleaning helps them "forget" quicker.

I would say you can dispell that myth a little more if you take that female off the eggs, take the eggs, put her back and then try to feed her without cleaning anything.
 
I usually don't wash off the female. Last few years, I took the eggs out, replaced the substrate and fed them the next day. Only 1 girl refused for a while but she finally started eating a few weeks later.
