Obama

I have always believed he was born in Africa. His father lives there and he has step siblings there. If he can't show a birth certificate proving he was born in Hawaii, then he wasn't born there, If he was born there, then what is with all the secrecy???????

What gets me are non-thinking mind controlled people who will fight you tooth and nail and say it's a conspiracy without reasoning.

I am wondering why Obama has a SS# issued from CT if he was born in Hawaii.

I've seen that before. You would think they would at least get it right and give him a phony Hawaiian SS# but they like to toy with mind controlled followers who will fight with people whom think differently...

I have dial up, it's free but doesn't work with u-tube at all... Can someone please post a summary of the original u-tube video? (or more if you have nothing else to do?) lol Thanks!

1. anyone who posts ANYTHING from "fair and balanced" fox news is ridiculous. they are obviously a extreme right wing conservative channel with an agenda to push and cannot be trusted to present the full story. I encourage anyone who values what Fox has to say to watch the documentary "Outfoxed: Murdoch's War on Journalism" (Netflix gives a free two-week trial and hey have it archived)

2. I think it's very blasphemous for anyone to get angry or territorial over a small percentage of what we as a nation originally took from the natives (with whom the Mexicans have a very strong ancestral history) being given back to them. Sure the execution is not ideal, but the idea is very ideal. It's time for America to start paying what they owe, not just to indigenous groups in North America but to everyone they killed, stole from, raped, pilaged, controlled, etc. to become the "world power" that it is today.

When I saw the picture of the YouTube video that Rich posted I thought it was just a joke. I figured it was his way of poking fun at those stories about Obama not being born in Hawaii. I can't watch YouTube videos or most any video because I have dial up. I think that believing something just because you have seen it on T.V. or read it online on ANY news program is unwise. There are many so-called news programs both conservative, liberal, and other that put out all kinds of BS. I would also say that the term "blasphemous" is most appropriately used when describing actions that disrespect God, someone's religious beliefs, customs, or practices. I do agree with you that what was done to the indigenous peoples here in North America and beyond was incredibly wrong.

It's time for America to start paying what they owe said:
I find it interesting that you refer to America as "they." If you are an American, you're entitled to your opinion and I will back your right to say it. If you're not an American, your opinion really has no merit to me.

I'm guessing you are an American citizen, so how about joining the team and saying we?

Also, I have personally not raped, pilaged or controlled anyone. I believe you will find that, throughout history, those of Mexican lineage have done plenty o' raping and pillaging to get where they are. Mexicans are of mixed Spanish and native blood. The Spanish wiped out 90% of the natives in that area. The natives were pretty damn bloodthirsty themselves and engaged in slavery, sacrifice and cannibalism in some instances.

Most every nation has it's skeletons and I'm not going to apologize for ours. This is a different era and I believe we are learning and moving on (in most areas). The military has led me to a lot of different places. I would choose to live nowhere but here. You are welcome to find another locale if "we" are not to your liking.

Mon Nov 3, 2008 12:35 PM CST : The truth about Snopes?...............interesting..................

For many years, I have gone to 'Snopes' to verify information or a story I received on the net. You know those little things you get with e-mail that tell you that "this story has been verified through Snopes, and many of us - including myself - have sent out things without checking it out, but alas, I would have someone far smarter than me, write to back to me and send me the real deal. I just didn't know the background of Snopes. Here is some information that may help you too. jk

Subject: Fw: Re: Truth 'Snopes vs TruthorFiction and Snopes hidden agenda.

I received this from a very, very reliable source ()......It is something I've suspected when I've tried to check out Obama 'stories.

For example: the counter by Snopes, within minutes, of the info that broke on Obama last week. I sent it through here and found it labeled 'False' after it had only be out a few minutes.....They had a 'pat' answer prepared...
Now, we can see, perhaps, why...Mary

What so many take as gospel may have a agenda.

Snopes .vs. TruthorFiction A MUST READ

Here's something for you to be aware of; the final decision is yours.

A Google search revealed that Snopes.com is owned by David and Barbara Mikkelson, who live in Southern California and are Obama supporters. An interested reader (unknown to me) suspected that Snopes had a liberal bias after discovering several 'half-truths' and distortions.

Compare their analysis of the Obama/Ayers connection with truthorfiction.com's analysis of the same subject. Snopes minimizes the connection, categorizing the rumor as a 'Partial Truth,' while truthorfiction calls it a 'Truth' and, in fact, references a CNN expose of the two, as well as a Wall Street Journal article about their connection. Snopes not only does not reference either source cited above, but instead, lists a quote from an Obama spokesman as its main source.

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/o/obama-ayers.htm

Another comparison of Snopes vs. Truthorfiction is their treatment of the email regarding 'Obama's 50 lies.' Snopes adds editorial comments favoring Obama on unproven statements or even on proven ones where the comments are that he is 'taken out of context.'

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/o/obama-lies.htm

There are other things that they list as false, even though Youtube has videos of Obama or others actually making the statements.

Seems Snopes has a liberal agenda and http://www.truthorfiction.com/
might be a better, unbiased source.

@Dawn: Point taken on blasphemous, I should have said hypocritical. But @WJS: I'm going to have to disagree with the ridiculously immature retort you had the nerve to type. If I don't like it, leave? Seriously? Are we in 3rd grade?

Part of what sets this country apart from many others in the world is our right and ability to criticize and question the ones in authority (and this is what I meant by "they"). You see I didn't even respond to people's opinions (implied or explicit) about Obama because that is their right as citizens (and YES, I am a citizen although I do not agree with you saying that a non-citizen has no merit in criticizing America because outside perspectives are often exactly what is needed, take the court of law, they often decide cases from an outside, and assumed unbiased perspective) and I'm not going to tell them to leave if they are critical.

Although I do respect your experiences in the service, I have a problem with your argument. Based on what you are saying, I feel like you are justifying or exonerating America's actions. Was the brutal enslavement of Africans for centuries okay because they practiced indentured servitude in their homeland? Was the mass extermination of Native Americans with methods such as giving them smallpox blankets during the winter appeased because they fought each other over tribal boundaries? If I do an unjust thing to you I can't wave off my responsibility by saying you did something wrong to someone else, each person has to own their behavior.

All I said was America needs to own it, and make retribution. And citizens who have re-educated themselves (because the American school system is largely a joke when it comes to accurate representations of historical events) and who realize this fact will not be angry about the border situation because it's ideal over execution.

You cannot move on unless you make right what you have done in the past. Should we simply move on from racism and classism that created the current caste system we have today in America? The answer is no, because even if WE didn't have a direct hand in creating this system many of US are benefiting from it and doing nothing to ensure that those who have been slighted by it can have he opportunity to catch up, in most cases we gripe and complain about sharing those ill-gotten resources with those who are in need. while we continue to send millions to others across the world we have a very hard time admitting fault, making retribution and taking care of the citizens in our own nation.

@ Serpentsden: Thank you for dropping knowledge and not judgment.

My "immature" point was, if you truly loathe the country you live in, you always have the freedom to choose another. I do not consider this third grade immaturity, but rational argument - there are plenty of expats in the world. Truly not a criticism. And again, why do you refer to the country you are a part of as "they." As a citizen, what reparations do you feel you (or we) owe?

And it is interesting that you completely ignore the fact that most, if not all nations have histories built on crimes as egregious as anything we may have committed in our past. German treatment of the Jews, Spanish treatment of native Central and South American cultures, African nations' treatment of each other, Japan's treatment of China, not to mention all of the ethic cleansing in middle east, Africa again and Eastern Europe.

Do I feel it necessary for my generation to make reparations for past wrongs? In some cases yes, but not if they will be abused as they often are. Where does it start and end? We have more than enough apologists to go around in this country and I'm not going to develop some sort of guilt complex for something I had no involvement or control over. Do we have room for progress? Of course.
My arguments are based on historical fact not media outlets, left or right wing.

I will also point out that globally, we are the most generous nation on the planet with foreign aid. That always seems to get lost in the shuffle.

I believe the original point revolved around Mexico and to that end I say: We owe that country nothing other than a hopefully mutually beneficial alliance which I feel is already rather one-way. Perhaps our "reparations" to them are illegal immigration and drug trafficking and kidnapping along our borders.
