I don't believe the conversation was about your understanding of taxonomy at all.

However, if you have an opinion on the original topic, I'm sure Leighanne would be very happy to hear another opinion on the safety of her feeder insects since the error.

Is it really that difficult for you to just admit that you typed something that, when taken literally, is incorrect?

And Leighanne doesn't want to hear my opinion of her or anything she has done, I draw a distinction between "honest mistake" (like unintentionally saying that crickets aren't animals) and "just plain stupid" (like thinking it's fine to let things mold because some molds have medicinal uses) and haven't got a lot of tolerance for the second category. I'll bend over backwards to lecture someone that genuinely acknowledges a mistake and works actively to correct the holes in their education... I don't waste my time on the fools that just keep waiting for the next dumb error to come bite them in the ass or the ones that will ask for information and then fight with it because it wasn't what they want to hear. I haven't got the time or inclination to coddle someone that's batshit crazy and half illiterate and the only advice I have for her- and I mean this, truly and genuinely, is that she should find appropriate new homes for any animals in her care until such a time as her attitude and ballistic approach to husbandry has been fixed. She crossed the line between innocent mistakes and stubborn ignorance four hundred posts ago.

Side note: What the is happening to this forum? Who cares if it is a bug or animal? People come here to either get help for questions they have or help share the knowledge by answering questions. Now people are slinging mud, starting petty arguments, and name calling?

Perhaps if you would do something so VERY simple as to use a NAME when you are talking ABOUT someone, there would be less confusion to those trying to make sense out of your posts.

Oh, Fauna, Fauna, Fauna, Fauna! My heads spinning with this past week. I want to say a lot of stuff and not sure how to say it? I know I'm a bad writer and have not figured out that stupid quoting thing, so I'll TRY to sound as clear as possible. Seamus your right, by technicalties a Cricket is the broad term "Animal." TripleMoons was right though for the sake of those reading. I was not feeding my "Pets" mold, my "Feeders" were eating mold. Also Seamus if you would of been reading I didn't "intentionally" feed my Feeders mold.

I wonder why Fauna lacks. Nothing personal to anybody or Rich. Rich made the sight yes, but we carry it. Its reputation, the participation. Guests are reading and conveying this sight. Its not Rich but US! Fauna is a bit "uptight" and for the past week people have been doing nothing but arguing and reading things wrong and instead of playing nice we should be but we aren't. Nobody's going to get any Guests to want to come and sign up so we have new people to "play" with when they see us ripping eachother apart! I am NOT important, but this Thread kind of was.

Theres the technical side to our Exotics, we can read that anywhere. People...keeping animals in captivity though, since we are Human run into weird problems, household problems, etc. Are there any other mold questions in all of the Leo Forum?? How about the Invert Forum?? Any? Probably because I'm not the first one this has happened to. I did not think that I should feed my crickets because its Penicillin...no. I was thinking, and you guys were supposed to give your thoughts and help me think from there and some did. All I knew was that my crickets weren't dead, thats a plus I guess. Penicillin was somehow derived from Mold. Cat made a VERY good point I just wasn't thinking of at the time. Yes Penicillin comes from mold but sterilized, and timed, and formed out of specific Laboratory procedures. Albert Einstein was a Genius! It took him a few years to think up that bomb though didn't it? You were all supposed to help me think outside of the box with your expert knowledge and educated opinions.

I bought Gex in April of last year and have had a cricket colony since then. This is the first time this has ever happened and hopefully the last. A lesson learned. Seriously! I don't know how those of you with 70 or 300 different Geckos or Snakes keep up! I have problems sometimes with my 11 critters. I mean I know everybody's got different routines and maybe mine just aren't working. My friend with the three Rats doesn't clean hers everyday and I have two and I have to clean them everyday. Like I had said Iwas busy with the Ratties, I was busy hand feeding Gexie MealWorms I didn't want to turn into Beetles. (Hes not all that interested in eating them out of the food dish.) I have a Ball python that hasn't eaten in almost three weeks driving me NUTS! The Crickets are VERY important yes, I just kind of lost track for a minute. I figured I'd ask what to do. Its not like $15.00 bucks matters to me that much, but what was I going to do with 500 Crickets? Let them lose in the middle of Winter to die! lol I donno, so I asked. I was just wondering about mold you know, good or bad. Its kinda like when I had to trap my Feeder Mice that got lose in my Dads truck,he brought them back up to me and said here you go, no sense in wasting food. I didn't have to wonder I threw them away.

Seamus maybe you could explain to me what I have done so terribly wrong. Chris66 I told you you were fake because of that "apology" I got in the Corn Snake Forum and then you come and rant on me. I don't know why?? I am not mental, but you do realize that sane people can be driven there and can act like it if they want? I am not dumb about everything, and I do not understand why Chris doesn't like me and why Wilomon has a problem and why I suck so bad with my animals, at least from your viewpoint.

TripleMoons don't worry. I will always at least lurk around Fauna for educational purposes, and it will be certain Forums I detach from, and yours is not one of them at ALL! I am sorry I haven't been able to make any posts about Jake but I have not had any detrimental problems with him and figured nobody wanted to hear me make a post talking about another perfect shed or how cute he is. People don't do a lot of cute talk about there animals around here as much as I see it in other Forums. I mean Seriously people on Arachnoboards get technical but at the same time share in the cuteness of their critter. I personally love it, but....

I came here hoping to learn as much as possible about my "Pets" first and hopefully some "Friends" second. I don't have anybody here to talk about my "Collection." I have friends yes, but they get pretty bored with me when I talk about my animals and my animals are my life!

You guys know how it is out there. The books on Exotics aren't all that. When I meet people that have Exotics and they don't have a computer, fine. If they do though and their not part of a Forum I think their MAD! Fauna has taught me SO much! A lot of it with my critters has been luck, the rest is made up of Fauna, TONS of on line Research, and my caring.

Part of my problem here is me. I'm a sucky writer, but people could just politely ask for me to re explain something instead of taking it the wrong way and then people are fighting. Part of my problem has been on purpose in my part to. I was pretty upset I had NO support barely through my Piccolo mishap. (Not even my Fiancee, hes great and all but people have different views about things and he thinks Anoles are feeders and I don't.) I see people on here killing their animals out of sheer profound absolute DUMBNESS or they barely care and get treated better. I have been a loyal Member since March 13th and somehow I'm the bad guy??? I don't get it, I'm not seeing everybody's viewpoint. I'm not sure what else to talk about right now. I hope it all makes sense, and I am sorry to EVERYBODY. If anybody wants to talk or work any "problems" out with me feel free to pm. I know I have a couple people on my list I want to clear things up with. I also don't carry grudges. If your nice with me starting now I'll be nice right back.

Kristin, for cuddles and hugs there are two places I would recommend. I'm serious. Try www.geckoforums.net for all your gecko needs and www.cornsnakes.com for all your cornsnake needs.

Both of those are much more user friendly and tend to have regular members that are nowhere near so quick to mix it up as are the members here.

In all honesty you came off like a bit of a dumbass and one of the many dumbasses that we get here who simply will NOT accept that what they know already, despite the fact that they will say they are here for help, is more accurate than what they learn here.

This really isn't, at least of late, the friendliest of sites for those who don't seem to be sincere in their requests for knowledge. As you seemed to be insincere in yours.
Such was the impression I got and whether it is the one you were actually presenting or not is a moot point, it's done and over.

I was very serious about you taking time to re-read your posts and think about how they will be interpreted. You STILL use your inability to communicate by the written medium as an excuse for US not knowing what you mean.

THAT excuse does not work here, not on this site. You will see very fine hair splitting to determine EXACTLY what someone is, or is not, saying. Especially on the BOI but, especially with oldtimers like me, it carries over to other forums as well.

Ponder this. Some of us have been answering questions like the ones you try to ask for longer than you've been alive. We may not be as kind and cuddly as you would like us to be beause you are the ten-thousandth person to ask and the nine-thousand ninehundred eighty-fifth to argue the point with us.

It's YOUR responsibility to present yourself in such fashion that you will be taken seriously from the get go, NOT ours to ferret out what you meant. Some will try, don't get me wrong, but many will not; will simply take you at your word and treat you as your word merits to THEM.

Keep trying and you'll get better, I hope, and see that even those who you think are buttwads, are not or at least are not for the reasons you think they are.

I typically don't hug strangers. I am a girl and have assets to protect. I also have quit a cute Fiancee I am lucky enough to cuddle with. Theres also something else. I am sorry that we have to repost and repost the same information over and over. There is NOTHING we can do about that though except for not answer the post I guess. I would just make sure theyve got clean food and water for a few days As Cat said earlier and feed them off later. Crickets are pretty resilient little bugs, im sure it theyll be fine.

If you feel that people are attacking you constantly..( and i dont mean this badly) either rethink your posts, or use the ignore feature. It can come in pretty darn handy. ^_-

Thank You Alicia, Cat, everybody! I am glad I don't have to.....whatever one would do in the middle of Winter with Crickets? An no I haven't always felt like I was being attacked here, its just this past week has been nasty! Oh well next week I have a whole week off and I can sleep in and harass some Critters, especially Ratties and Recharge as Cat would say! lol I'm not putting anybody on ignore yet but I will definately make sure to re read my posts well...better. I actually do but I'm still not using my thinker I guess. I'll be thinking about this.

It's no big deal, it happens sometimes (food molding). I feed my crickets a high quality powered cricket chow, carrots and kale, and I do not have problems with the food molding. Fruit probably is not a great thing for you to feed your crickets as it does tend to mold quickly.

Yes, one could do that, or just do as I have done for the last 15 years or so and not use fruit for gutloading. As long as you are feeding a high quality chow, fruit is not necessary anyway. Plus it attracts those nasty fruit flies, *gag*.

I highly recommend you start using a prepackages cricket chow for your crix. Fluker's is pretty good, I feed my crickets a diet by Ziegler Brothers but it is hard to find, and I think you can get the Fluker's chow at Petcos/Petsmarts.
