In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Outback Snakehouse Are Cruel And Inhumane

no

Dennis, No it does not need to continue - I still think the original thread starter owe Mark and Aimee an appology for the way ther have treaded them!

Scott,

You are absolutely right, I agree with you, but do you honestly see that happening? IMO, this thread was started recklessly by an uninformed individual. They probably see that now if they are keeping up with this thread.......maybe a little embarrassed as well...

MAYBE, MAYBE NOT!

You are absolutely right, I agree with you, but do you honestly see that happening?

Due to the type of brief, but hostile comments that were made, I don't think this person's personality will have them come on here and appologize!

But weirder things have happened. I will be the first to say I have made some stupid comments that were wrong, but I did appologize when I did see my own wrong doing.

Do Mark and Aimee need to say anything else?

Sure

Thanks to all who have helped keep this rediculous thread at the top of the page

The originator of this thread has no sent me an email since they recieved the snake. Their guarantee period is up. I did not recieve photos or a copy of a vet reciept.

I've done my best to handle this in the most appropriate manner... And I'm done. :bandhead0  :detonate:

It sounds as if you guys have in fact handled this matter in a very professional manner. I for one would really like to hear what the thread starter has to say up to this point. But then again this is just my opinion.:)

So let's get this straight. The original poster shouted a bunch of unsubstantiated accusations and then vanished without providing a shred of proof?

This type of "hit and run" posting is the surest sign of someone who is complaining just to see their thoughts in print.

I wouldn't give this thread a second thought guys. Chalk it up to the fact that a small percentage of the buying public are simply nuts.

I guess this person was thinking that since it was an 8 foot snake that you would get some of those cardboard tubes, tape them together and put the snake in. But then they would have been pissed if you forgot to label "this end up". Go figure.

Hey, gave them a break....

Hey we all make mistakes, and sometimes we jump the gun. I know I would be upset if I saw my snaked packed in a too small of a package, but again this is my opinion of what I consider to be appropriate, for the snake. And I know alot of you guys dont like your name being trashed. I understand everyone defending themselves, but we all make mistake, hell I thought I had recieved a did alli snapper from John Richards, I was furious, I called him, and blew up on him. But as a good business man, he didnt curse or blow me off. He instead just chuckled and said, have you placed him in water yet? I replied no, there is no point! Again a chuckle, "Do that and call me back". I was like WTF, fine! I'll do it, sure enough I did it, and in about 5mins, the turtle opened its eyes, and observed it surroundings. I called and apologized, he said it usual of them etc... But anyhow, yeah maybe they just felt that it was shipped wrongly. We all can exaggerate, but and make mistakes when were upset. I've spoken to Deanna and Sam, and they same like knowledgable people, and there really nice. Now you guys cant get after them because they havent responded, alot of people dont have access to computers at home, I know I didnt back then, now I do. I was only able to check my emails and accounts, at school. So wait, give them a day or so. And just for you all to know, I'm on both sides, Mark and Aimee; cause I understand how shipping works, and for Deanna and Sam; cause they are nice people, who I think are honest (this is my opinion dont jump on me). Mark and Aimee if you guys feel there were inexperienced keepers, then why send them a snake that will get 12-15ft??

WITH NO HEAT , NO LABEL EXCEPT PERISHABLE , NO ROOM TO BREATH AT ALL (HE WAS ALMOST DEAD) , WENT THROUGH A AIRBONE COMPANY THAT DOESN'T EVEN SHIP ANIMALS (SO JUST IMAGINE HOW THE POOR GUY FEELS.
DON'T BELIEVE A WORD THESE PEOPLE TELL YOU , UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE SNAKE FOR DINNER.
THIER NAME SHOULD BE ""OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE"

Nice people don't respond in such away as the above statement attests. Nice people tend to handle a problem (as they see it) in a mature way instead of blindly attacking someone with a range of insults that are just plain rude to say the least. Mark had already offered to right any wrong doings, but some people will never be happy regardless!

I have to agree. Bottom line is that there is no excuse for this type of ranting attack. Mark and Amy have offered to take the animal back. What more can they do? The packing sounds acceptable and the buyers have shown no evidence that the animal is not healthy. This sounds like a classic case of inexperienced internet buyers who did not realize how animals are shipped. My guess is that the animals arrived a little on the cool side and the buyers posted in typical knee jerk fashion.

Also, your comment regarding why they would ship a large species to someone who they thought was somewhat inexperienced is patently ridiculous. Are we breeders supposed to test the buyers on their knowledge of snake husbandry? Give me a break!

well....

Are we breeders supposed to test the buyers on their knowledge of snake husbandry? Give me a break!

I think in a sense yes, your are. I mean do you really want your snakes going to a unexperienced person? Or do you really want to sell a HOT snake to someone who doesnt know what there doing? I'm not going to argue with you, its a waste or your time and mine. I was just exclaiming my view, I'm not sayin i'm right or wrong. I agree Deanna needs to apologize,

Shipping

Outback & Kelli,

This is just a side note on the "To use heat packs or not" question. Its a procedure Ive adopted into my shipping and has been a success. Now, we all know NOT to use heat packs in the summer. And in some cases cold packs may be needed. We all know NOT to ship in winter months without heat packs.

But, the question is what to do in spring/fall ?? The days are still warming up, but the nights are getting cold ?? To use or not to ? Kelli says yes and Outback says no. Some call it a gut check. I feel this method I use will solve this for both of you or anyone else involved in shipping. It's only how I do it after years of wondering what was the best way to ship. I too pondered every spring and early fall on what to do.

You can get 8-12 hour heat packs. This will get the snake threw the cold night, but the heat fades during the day when the temps warm back up. This is safe just in case the package is delayed. I have used this method for about 2 years with 100% success. Nothing came in too cool or too hot.

Now, I know its not full proof. What is ?? But its darn near in my book. My only advice is to make sure the heat packs are working properly before packing them up. Ask the customer what time they got the package and ask about the heat pack. Why ? To give you a idea if the brand your using is reliable. I did this my first year and now stay with the same brand.

I have a funny feeling that the poster of this thread got a sluggish python they maybe got to cool from shipping and nothing more. Being inexperienced they jumped the gun and started the BS. It obvious to me by their lack of response. Ive said it many times, theres just as many "bad" cunstomers and there are "Bad" breeders/dealers. A customer can con you just as much (if not more) than a seller. They know you have your rep to protect. Im glad the way Outback handled it.

I hope my shipping method will help any who give it a try. No cooling your snakes days before shipping ? No questions on weather to use or not to use heats packs ? No, inexperienced customers complaining about it coming in too cold or too hot ?

The only thing Id do is try and get Airline approved if you havent. Being Delta verified is great !! I know its not always logical, but its still the safest and the most legal way to ship. Because Im mainly sticking with investment Boas and Pythons, I may discontinue door to door shipping altogether soon.

GOOD ADVICE

This is the best advice I have heard on this thread yet.

I APOLOGIZE TO MARK AND AIMEE -part.1-

MARK AND AIMEE:

MY HUSBAND AND I APOLOGIZE FOR THE QUICK TO JUDGE RESPONSE ABOUT SAMSON. IT WAS WRONG FOR US TO ASSUME SOMETHING ABOUT PEOPLE WHO MADE AN EFFORT TO KEEP IN CONTACT WITH US AND YOU WERE EVEN HONEST ENOUGH TO RETURN THE DOUBLE PAYMENT MADE. WE HAVE BONDED WELL WITH SAMSON AND HE IS VERY COMFORTABLE WITH THE REST OF THE FAMILY.WE WILL SEND SOME PICTURES AS SOON AS WE CAN GET A CAM SET UP. WE HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO RESPOND AS QUICKLY AS WE WOULD HAVE LIKED TO BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF THINGS GOING ON.WE WILL RESPOND TO EVERYONE'S QUESTIONS AS SOON AS WE GET A CHANCE.

THANK YOU,
DEANNA AND SAM

sure just let us know how to merge them together and how to try to get rid of the other one.

*sam: i am not judging you or accusing you of anything but i am concerned about his lower jaw. it isn't wanting to hinge back together normally. --you right , for inexperienced shippers , that would be the same way i would ship him. that was our first airborne shipment ever. --hopefully this did not ruin any future sales or trades between us.?

UNEXPERIENCED HANDLERS, BUT WE MAKE IT A POINT TO KNOW ANYTHING THERE IS TO
KNOW FOR THIS REASON!! OUR EMOTIONS JUST GET IN THE WAY SOMETIMES.

Judging from your post you are very inexperienced in the shipping process. I'm glad you have apologized and made amends, but don't jerk my chain.

sure just let us know how to merge them together and how to try to get rid of the other one.

I was asking the moderators (Rich, Ken, Jay) to merge the threads together. No one else can do that.

The reason I ask for this to be merged with the previous thread is to keep it all together. I don't want people to have to hunt all over the place to find the whole story.

i am not judging you or accusing you of anything but i am concerned about his lower jaw. it isn't wanting to hinge back together normally

Well - at this point I am guessing you determined it was not serious enough to warrant a vet visit right away. I'd love to see a picture so I can better assess the situation myself.

I did state that I needed pictures or some sort of proof within 24 hrs if there was a problem. This is standard operating procedure for most all businesses in the reptile trade. I am still willing to offer assistance, I just need to know what the situation is.

Mark
