In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello all, I knew i should never have looked on the bp forums in the classifieds. I did good for 4 months... now i'm in the market for a python, and if my track record is any indication, several BP's.

That said, i've seen several posts on pied markers on poss het pied crosses. Would a couple of you veteran herpers be so kind as to post some pics and explain to me in no uncertain terms how to identify pied markers?

As a side note, how accurate are these markers?

Just so you know, some het pieds have no markers at all. Best advise I can give you is trust the person you are buying from.

Some hets have no markers, and some snakes show typical het pied markers, but are NOT het pieds. The 2nd best marker you can get is a photo ID from the breeder. The BEST marker is to get it from a trustworthy breeder. Good luck, but beware some "deals" that you will come across in your search!!

As always, thanks for the advice i'll definately beware of the "deals" i've had those experiences. anyone have some pics and an explanation so i at least know what i'm lookin at when i see the posts? of the markers i mean lol pie bald snakes seem to speak for themselves!

Hey Jeremy,

I just snapped these "marker pics" on my gravid female. Hope this helps you to see what they look like. Just don't depend solely on them!

Now, I gotta go back and clean-up at least 4 tubs that snakes have already knocked over their water bowls. (I JUST washed and refilled them this morning!! Almost as bad as pooping as soon as you change the substrate!)

Well I made the leap...like yoda said ..do or do not..no try..
I went for a .1 100%het pied, and a .1 spider. got em today, the spider munched a rat already. That was the COOLEST thing i've ever seen. That thing snatched that rat like it'd never eatin b4. 35 and i'm wringing my hands like a 6 year old on christmas day lol. The het didn't wanna eat, but from what i've read they need to relax from moving stress. here's some pics, het first 3 then the spider. I hve a .1 bumble bee poss het and a .1 pin coming as soon as it cools off a bit. I knew i never shoulda looked at snakes LOL:D

like separate containers quarantine?

You should have any new arrivals quarantined away from the rest of your colony. This should be an entirely different room so that if they do have anything at all, you won't subject your healthy animals to it. My minimum quarantine is 90 days. If anything even seems like it MIGHT be wrong, they stay in there much longer.

thank you Susan.
So how long does it take em to digest a rat, and is there sort of a guidline to go by as far as feeder size? i've heard like 10% of its weight and 20% of its weight...

Rat digestion varies, but they can usually be picked up after 24 hours (my minimum) without incident.

Best guideline for feeder size is no bigger around than the widest part of the snake's midsection.

(cool snakes! DO quarantine! Mites and a lot of other "nasties" find their way into collections when quarantine procedures are not established and faithfully followed.

Good luck!

quarantine won't be tough, as these two are my collection lol, but i will definitely follow your suggestions as my collection grows. i can't wait to see my bumble bee!!
