Hello! I just wanted to let everyone know to be on the look out for this person. He did a very bad trade with me.
I traded him a trio 2.1 of spider ball python morphs all over 300g and in very great shape. He asked if I wanted to trade for a female pastave ball python and a female mojave ball python. I asked him the usual questions...when were they born, how many grams are they, are they eating well, etc. All the answers he told me seemed to be legit along with the pictures. I agreed to the trade and we sent the packages the same day, all snakes arriving in good shape on both ends.
Mind you the trades happened a little less than three weeks ago. Well a couple days ago the female mojave ball python started acting funny and flopping everywhere and my first thought was definite seizure. I contacted him in a hurry by email, no reply from him. i contacted him again...still no reply by email. I then contacted him by his phone number and i finally got a reply from him...he said he would not replace it and that it was all my fault. (ive been in this business for awhile and i know that siezures can stay dormant in a ball python). No more than two hours later she passed. Well today is 9/23/13 and the second snake I received from him started having seizures, regurgited, keeled over and died. As a result I am not at all pleased with this and it hurts that he would do nothing about it...he got three amazing snakes and I got shafted big time.
Please if you deal with him take precautions and be aware that you might be getting very sick snakes.

It's IBD. Simple as that...you can think what you want and try to be a "white knight" about everything... It's not always as clean as you think. Everyone's got a chip on their shoulder and yes in this perfect world of yours were deaths are unexplained even though if you look high and low for seizures across the board you will find ibd at the tip top if not the only cause next to genetic line I.e. both are pre existing so yeah? Point being not everyone sells from a clean clutch if I could live in your world were it wasn't so cut and dry and all clutches were clean good disease and genetic dysfunction free, I would gladly be there. [/B]I digress and stress that yes dealing with herps for a long time and having worked for reputable people I can without a doubt say this is what it is... Spending funds for a necropsy on what isn't a mystery is a waste through and through.[/B]
Let me get this out of the way first, I'm sorry the snakes died in what seems to have been an agonizing death! My sympathy is for the snakes only and is not directed at the buyer or seller. I could care less who's out what, as it's just a minor financial setback. No one is being put out on the street over this deal. Sorry to be so blunt but that is honestly how I feel about this situation. Even though we haven't heard from the seller yet and can only go off of what Micaela has stated neither of them seem to be entertaining the possibility that what ever caused these deaths could be from their end.
What I see is a gross neglect of a situation that could put other animals lives at risk! Animals that reside in the buyers collection as well as animals in the sellers collection. Also anyone's collection that has purchased or traded animals with the buyer or seller. I don't know anything about Ricardo but if he does sell animals on a regular basis he should lock it down for now and keep a close eye on all his animals. This goes for the buyer Micaella as well, nothing should enter her collection or leave for at least a few months.
Since the seller has not responded to this thread yet I'll comment only on Micaela's posts.
In the quotes above I have made bold some of the issues I would like to draw your attention to. Your know it all attitude and reckless care for your collection is beyond forgiving. The fact that you won't spend a few dollars to get a necropsy done even though you claim these snakes had IBD shows your lack of care and knowledge. You state it's a simple conclusion because you're the only person in the world that can eyeball IBD, now that's one heck of a gift.
Since you've been in the business for a while, I'm guessing means you're ball python collector, not really sure how this qualifies you to be able to diagnose IBD from other infectious diseases for example Ophidian Paramyxovirus (OPMV). Or distinguish it from any other cause whether it be environmental such as a spike in temperature, exposure to a toxic substance, or one of the many pathogens which all can have similar symptoms. Since your self proclaimed knowledge dwarfs even the most profound Doctors and Scientists in this field perhaps you can explain what you mean by seizure's can stay dormant in ball pythons? Not sure where you're getting your info from but seizures happen due to abnormal electrical discharges or malfunction of the brain. A virus can cause this as well as other things that effect the central nervous system. Yes a disease can lay dormant with no outwardly symptoms but a seizure can not, all though due to the varying degrees of a seizure some may not be noticeable or expressed in a different manner. Some seizures are violent with the body going into convulsions and some are calm and not as noticeable as the body is in a paralyzed state.
Well I hate to burst the ego bubble of yours, you don't know what you're talking about and your attitude will only get in your way from actually learning.
It's not as simple as that as you stated, it being IBD, and saying this really shows how much you don't know. There's nothing wrong with not knowing but there is something really wrong with making claims and having no clue. You've obviously not looked into anything else but IBD. Your claim of "]if you look high and low for seizures across the board you will find ibd at the tip top if not the only cause next to genetic line I.e. both are pre existing so yeah?" is preposterous!! You have not looked high or low because there are many reasons that would cause a seizure. I would spend more time but I doubt anything I say will get through to you. Even if I gave you a run down of my experience and qualifications I know it wouldn't matter. I know when it gets to a point where I have to give my credentials to get someone to listen that's when I need to stop and not waste anymore of my time.
Well I hope the rest of your collection has not been affected by this and you properly quarantine any new animals that you get. And for your sake and your animals I hope your ego takes a back seat soon because you seem like a smart person with potential but need to get out of your own way. There are many reasons why you should have gotten a necropsy done but you failed miserably! Reason, you didn't want to spend a few bucks even if it might cost you your whole collection.
Good Luck!
