    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Please help me figure it out!

trying to figure out if i want a rhacodactylus chahoua or a rhacodactylus sarasinorum....or should I get a really nice rhacodactylus ciatalis (harlequin)? Decisions decisions. Let me know what you think. I want to breed with crested to get a hybrid... I know some of you frown upon that sorta thing, but its gonna happen regardless, so you should just help me on this one. haha. talk soon!!!

thanks....I'm sorry for putting it in the classifieds, but I thought since it was "WANTED", that it applied. My bad! ANYWAY....I want your answers people!!! Haha.

I am currently pairing Crested/Chahua, & Crested/Sarasinorum (never seen these yet, but I am told they will cross) I know some people don't like it, but why not be different ? If they can breed in the wild, why not in my house. Good luck

if you want to breed a hybrid i say go with the chahoua because crested x chahoua hybrids are stunning! The sarasinorum can be flighty and I think a sarasinorum x crested would probably look like a crested with no crests. if you just want a cool Rhac though I vote leachie or gargoyle gecko! lol

I've concidered gargoyles too, but I want a female breeder, and even though it HAS been done, its hard to breed gargoyle x cresteds because of gargoyles' temperment. I dont want anything bad to happen to my cresteds in other words. as far as Leachies go, I would love to own one, but again- I want to breed with cresteds, and I am pretty sure that can't work. haha. Plus, very expensive. Comments on this????

:iagree: Leachies & gargs are my favs. If your looking to breed for resale I think you will have a tough time selling hybrids as many people frown upon it(myself included), imagine selling these animals off, many people breeding them and then who knows 10 years down the road there may not be any pure lines to work with, if you plan to do it more so as a small project for you and either keep or cull the animals I say go for it but don't cloudy up the gene pool for rhacs by selling them off, each species of rhacs are all amazing in their own right. So ask yourself if you are willing to house all the hybrids you produce for the life of those animals, caging, bedding ,food, supplies, etc... can get expensive so these are all things that you need to REALLY think about before doing hybrid crosses. JMHO

I appreciate the oppinions stated. I know that alot of people frown upon hybrids, so I knew this was coming. Money isnt really a problem for the care of the animals, but I suppose a part of me agrees with the oppinion you said about hybrids. So Jeff, what do you think about this- my only male Crested gecko is only that olive color. If I bought another female with an awesome pattern (maybe harlequin?) and bred them, do you think I would turn out having a good pattern, or no? BTW he is housed with 1 other female crested (that we think actually may actually be part chahoua by the bone structure in her head and body). She is a bright yellow brindle, and is pretty chill. She actually COULD BE gravid right now. Too early to tell. Give me your input!

I personally am trying the "Hybrid" thing for my personal collection. Who is to say that there aren't any "mutts" in the wild or the genes of all our collections ? I just want 1 to Dave. Usually when you breed a pretty Crested to a dull Crested, you usually get 1 nice baby & 1 dull baby. I have bread 600+ Cresteds & a few made me think of the "mutt" thing just buy the way they looked.

Personally I am a fan of the olive colored cresties, I think they have a very natural look and I think you could make some great offspring if you pair with a harlequin type female or even grab another nice olive blusher colored female. I say get a couple female cresties, there have been a few very reasonably priced breeder size females available lately and I really don't think you can go wrong either way, you'll always end up having offspring that looks more like dad or more like mom and you'll get those ones that carry the combined traits of both parents. Also to my knowledge there have been no successful crossing of cresties and gargs. Gargoyles are another great option, they are amazing animals and from my experiance they are no where near as flighty and make for great pets as well as being prolific breeders. Just take some time, ask tons of questions, do your research and with all your gathered information you will be able to make an educated decision on what you feel is best for you.

This message is OBVIOUSLY for everyone, but MOSTLY for my man, Jeff Wyatt. Dude, you are kind of a good spokesperson for crested geckos haha. As far as I know, there has been ONE crested x gargoyle hybrid ever. It actually looks kind of weird (and by weird, I mean I dont really like it), and also its legs were deformed. This being said, I wouldnt like it as a pet anyway, even if I wanted a hybrid, and its definately not worth risking my cresteds that I already have either. which brings me to my next point- i am not gonna make a big "stink" about whether or not cresteds are "genuine", or the arguement that there are hybrids that people own already that they think are 100% cresteds, and "mutts", and this and that. PERSONALLY, though, I have developed a new standpoint on the whole thing. I used to kinda "not really care" about mixing breeds, and whatnot, but I have concidered more and more what it is doing to the crested population, and at this point, I think I agree that it isn't a great idea to breed other species together with a rhacodactylus ciatalis, even another rhacodactylus. I mean, they have already been thought to be extinct once! Plus, does everybody realize that its gonna turn into every crested gecko is NOT 100% crested gecko, and so that cancels out the population??! I'm seeing it through different eyes, and even though I love all rhac species, i personally am for breeding them with the same kinds. next, (this is for you, JEFF!) I think I got caught up in trying to make some sort of super geckos, and forgot how beautiful the "naturals" were somhow. I have to say- my olive colored male IS AWESOME!!! he really is....and I agree with Jeff in the fact that offspring from maybe a nice harlequin or creamsickle, or blonde would be freaking awesome!

For the record. Gargoyle geckos can be extremely aggressive breeders. They would most likely make a meal out of anything they come across as foreign.

I have no comment on the hybrid issue.
