In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

For someone who supposedly has a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, you'd think he was pretty well aware of copyright laws, or at least smart enough to look them up. Minor in Information Technology? Maybe he took the two together so he could better rip off people via the internet?

Oh, and for those wondering, I got this info from good old myspace.

The copyright act that his and any other breeders personal photographs would fall under is the Berne copyright convention

In one of his photos he is posed with his daughter at his..."Company Pick Nick".

Pick Nick........ahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Cute kid, dumb father.

oh and a side note...who cares if the pics on his site are "borrowed" as long as they arent copywritten, which none are that i can tell....that business owner should be flattered to have another website using the same pics. ***copying is the best form of flattering*** Just my opinion.

All of the pictures and content on my site is Copyright protected. I have it listed at the bottom of every page. And NO, I am not flattered to have my pictures on someone else's site. I went to a lot of expense get to where I can take nice pictures for my site. People ask me all the time if they can use my pics and I almost always give them permission as long as they give me credit for the picture and the animal. He was representing my pictures as his and my animals as his, that is not flattering.

Thanks,

Mike

Just wanted to bump this up to see if Mr. Shearer will respond, as Mike Wilbanks has directly answered the question as to whether or not Primeval Pets had his permission to use his photo(s) as was previously claimed.

:iagree:

I appreciated the survey he filled out on myspace. My favorite answer is "How do you want to Die:" his answer "old in my bad "

He is working on the my bad part and I would say won't have a problem with that.

Okay folks, try to keep it on topic. The grammatical errors, while they may be amusing to some, don't bear any relevance to the topic at hand.

It is so funny sometimes reading about con sellers on fauna...one of which took me and my wife for several hundred dollars a couple years ago on some mollendorf rat snakes. My wife and I have a very nice personal collection of snakes and have ran a snake rescue for a couple years now in the treasure valley and are well known in the area. We have participated in community herp classes, exhibited snakes in a local beauty college fashion shows, active with fish and game and are first references by the humane society for snake rescues. So when I found this thread I had to comment. YES Primeval is owned and operated by Preston Shearer. Not Mike Smith wherever that came from. Yes he runs an online reptile business only. Yes he has a sellers permit issued by Fish and Game. My wife and I have known Preston personally for around two and a half years. We often take snake rescues that he rescues from other local people. We sometimes even do some trading such as caging for a new snake when he gets a new pet of his own. All local buyers pick up their animals directly from him at his home or he sometimes even delivers if they are close to him. Preston is a very nice guy and always puts the animals first. I know that some animals are drop shipped from his suppliers but usually happens because the animal is not allowed in Idaho. There are other times I have seen him order animals to his home for a local buyer that then changes their minds. He then will keep for himself or resell the animal depending on the animal. He has an especial love for lizards of all types and his family even keeps many animals as pets including a ball python he adopted from us. I am not best friends with Preston and do not know how he runs business on a daily scale but have never heard of a complaint about him locally and he has always done well with us. But like any business out there...if you are uncomfortable buying from him find someone else...But do not rag on the guy unless you have a legitimate problem which I have yet to see on this thread. Just my two cents.

Darcy, there IS the legitimate problem of him stealing pictures from other breeders' websites and claiming them as his own! I do not know him either, but illegally using copyrighted photos seems to me to be reason enough to doubt his integrity.

That may be...but I only see him using them not claiming they are his...I am sure if anyone contacted him about using their pictures he would remove them...Next time I talk to him I will try and remember to bring the subject up..

"Micheal Smith", according to Preston, was his wife - who came on here to defend them and their site. Either that, or it was Preston, coming here under a false name to give himself positive feedback.

Also, you may have noticed that after this thread got going, they basically pulled the content of their site. The fact that it now (2.5 yrs later) says that the pictures are examples only doesn't mean that it said that then.

I'm curious why you dragged up a thread from 2009? You've been a member since 2010 - what made you go looking for this NOW? (It was buried deeply enough that I'm fairly sure you didn't just "come across it".
Also, "Darcy" - what is your wife's name?

Harald, very good questions. I went out and looked at the website for this company, and there are still pictures on it that do not belong to them. Here is a picture from www.scremealeons.com: http://screameleons.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Red_Bar_Sirius_1.jpg

It is the same picture that is on PrimEval Pets at this location: http://www.primevalpets.com/#!__reptiles (see the chameleon picture)

So, 2.5 years later and there are still stolen pictures on the site. Whether the pictures are "examples" or not, they should be owned by the website owner and not stolen from other websites. At a minimum, you should have permission to use the picture and give credit to the owner. People take a lot of effort, time and money to develop their own pictures. Using someone's photograph without permission is theft.

Sorry if I'm kicking up dust, but it appears that Primeval is still "borrowing" photos.
