In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I will post pics later of me actually holding a measuring tape next to the snake.
THE SNAKE WAS IMPROPERLY SHIPPED! MY SNAKE THAT I BOUGHT was shipped in the MINIMAL of conditions!!!

Didn't Ray said he was going to refund the money?

he hasn't yet...

He hasn't yet but I'd be willing to drop this whole mess if he did... and he needs to do it soon. I had posted something about this before I had seen this thread--but won't go back on it until I get every penny back I spent on this poor snake...

Until then--I have every right to be angry...
Once I get my money back I'll consider it OVER.

Sorry about the lack of name...

Aw heck.... I guess this needs to go back to the BOI now....

Leaving the shipping forum and heading to the BOI.... zzippp....

Just something to consider

I can certainly understand why Charolette is mad, but I feel confident Ray will refund the money and make any necessary changes to his shipping practices. However, I just wanted to point something out to people who ship AirBorne here in the south. I also live in Florida and a couple of months ago I did a trade with someone who was in Florida as well. I'm in the Panhandle and worked out a deal with someone from the Tampa area who shipped me a pair of boas via AirBorne. Although the snakes were being sent from central to north Florida (about a 6 1/2 hour drive) I received quite a shock when I checked on their status using the tracking number I was given. Much to my surprise the snakes that were sent to me from the Tampa area were in OHIO (it was either Ohio or Illinois, but I'm pretty sure it was Ohio). When I called AirBorne to inquire why my package was in Ohio they told me that ALL PACKAGES ARE ROUTED THROUGH OHIO. Apparently, if I send a package with AirBone across the street it gets routed through Ohio. I told the customer service agent who helped me that this didn't sound right, but he assured me that no matter how ridiculous (his words) it seemed, that was how they did things. If I remember right, those two snakes went from central Florida to Dothan, Alabama, to Ohio, back down to North Carolina, to Pensacola, and then finally to me. Quite a trip.
Just something to consider when shipping animals down here in the south.

Sorry, but I have to disagree

Wayne Shaw:

But anyway it sounds like a good ending for everyone, and lessons learned.

Wayne,
I'll agree with you about the lessons learned part, but I'll have to repectfully disagree with you about the good ending. Even when the money gets refunded I don't see how this story has a good ending for anyone, especially that beautiful snake. Resolved yes, good ending, certainly not. No offense intended Wayne, just an observation on my part.

Take care & God bless,

yes everything goes to wilmington ohio first..even if you ship across the street from your house.
therefore..check your temps..wilmington ohio temps and where the stuff is going in the end temps.
all of these temps play a role in getting the animal to the destination safely.
there is alot more to shipping then what most people think.

So far the last I heard was she still hasnt been refunded, Considering the way that poor snake was shipped I dont know how that could be. Please keep us posted on the progress and good luck.

Charlotte, you say the box was only 3" high rather than 6" high? I must respectfully disagree. Not to get nitpicky here or anything, and the ONLY reason I'm responding to this is because yes Ray is a person I've known a while and done quite a bit of business with with no problems, but that cigarette lighter you have standing next to the box is over 3" tall itself. According to my ruler, standard lighters are about 3.1" by themselves. Up against your box, it seems like it has another few inches to go. Yes they make some taller and some shorter, but these are obviously shorter. And looking at the lighter in comparison to the dead snake, it's obvious the lighter is AT LEAST 3" tall.

Lastly, the "tiniest of boxes" thing. Think, honestly think, about what snakes live in in the wild. They generally don't go for the most open room. Snakes are people, or even mammals, and it has been proven that smaller is often better, especially in stressful situations, such as shipping. While your snake might not have been packed properly in the box, the box size should have been just fine, and the bag size was certainly fine. Sorry your snake didn't make it, and I hope you get your money back, though I'm sure you will if you'll just have a bit of patience.

Box Size

I have sent quite a few things express and I thought that box was a 5 inch tall box, at least thats the one it looks like to me. I could be wrong though. And yes smaller is better when taken into consideration everything else that shouldve been in the box with the snake.

Not meant to offend anyone, just my .02 cents

MY FINAL STATEMENT ON THIS MATTER

I have reached an agreement with the customer. It is up to her to post our arrangement if she chooses to do so, but after speaking with her today, I believe she will report to you all that this issue is over. Thank you all for your good advice. We WILL be changing our policy on shipping (to include not using Airborne Express for snakes). Mrs. Johnson spoke to Airborne who told her that there is no guarantee that they can keep a package from sitting out in the sun or overheating (or something to that effect). I have learned a valuable lesson through this, and will act accordingly. This was never about saving shipping costs (as some of you are implying) as the customer pays shipping, not me. I honestly believe a better packing may have mad the difference, but I do not really know for sure. As Wayne stated, it is speculation that the snake died from the packing, not factal. Unlike some, I can not play God and pass judgement. Reagrdless of if the packingwas a factor in the snakes death or ot, I am going to make good on it with my customer. That is how I do business. We ALL make mistakes, but the key is to learn from them. I cared a great deal for that snake, and would never knowingly do anything to harm an animal. In any event, I don't dwell on the past, I learn a lesson and move on. I am making this right with my customer, and if she decides to post that, maybe some of you can rise above this and move on also.

Mrs Johnson and I are putting this behind us and moving on. If some of you are not willing (or able) to do the same, than have a good time. I will have nothing more to add to this issue.

Be Blessed all!

If I order a snake from you, you are responsible for making sure that snake arrives to me alive. Someone said that we (the seller) can't be responsible for carrier delays. No, you are not responsible for carrier delays, but the carrier delay is not why I am asking for a refund. I am asking for a refund because the snake you sent me arrived dead, and you are responsible for making sure I get a live animal.

I for one will not buy from someone who has fine print in their live arrival guarantees or has a conditional live arrival guarantee other than issues where I as the buyer may be responsible (not home to receive the package etc.)
