Alias,
the reason I made an attempt to give you negative points was you did not read my posts to see that I DO NOT PLACE THE DELI CUP INTO AN ENVELOPE. You even admitted to "fluffing over the posts". Just because someone says something here does not make it true. Unfortunatly when people read this they just assume it true just because you wrote it.
Alias post:
Since you never disputed the claim of USING an envelope to ship these snakes...and you DEFINITELY shipped them via USPS which has a very public stance on their postiion about shipping snakes...I cannot see how you could possibly make this ludicris claim.
Sorry I fluffed over all the other stuff...but this alone grabbed my attention because it shows just how little integrity and intelligence this guy truly has.
I don't feel you have any reason to continue arguing about the way you run your business...you obviously have absolutely no respect for your customers, the law, and especially the animals in question.
Do you know how many time my EXPRESS envelopes arrive completely destroyed?? They usually don't travel in pressurized cabins either.
The reason I "attempted" giving others negative posts was because of particular posts that used unproked name calling (DAND & HULTMAN) or mean spirited posts that did not take in all the facts. You also took my comments totally out of context in order to push your made up theory or belief. It is called counter-intuitive logic. I call it self-agrandizement.
and in another post of Alias:
Oh, yeah...it wasn't properly packaged...it was in a deli in an ENVELOPE...
Here is a post by ZxTrev that all of you seemed to have ignored. It explains how and why its better to ship in small boxes whenever possible because they are handled better and cause less stress on the snakes:

Rainer has shipped me Rosies on more than one occasion. They were outstanding specimens, and his knowledge of their husbandry is second to none. I suspect his kings are the same. In referance to his shipping snakes in deli containers packed with a medium, I too thought it was wacky, but the animals are always very healthy, well hydrated, and seem quite content when I have gotten them. I honestly think he has some points in packing them snuggly. If I were a young animal being shipping in a deli cup where I can be slid around and banged up everytime the box is moved, then I would be really stressed by the time I arrived at my destination. I think Rainers methods have merit, and he has proved them out over hundreds, of animals shipped this way. I know you guys will argue noone else does things this way, but I will also remind you that only a couple of hundred years ago, everyone was sure the world was flat. The point here is that just because its different than what you know, doesn't make it wrong.
As far as the box it shipped in, shipping baby snakes in a tightly packaged container in a small "box" type box, is just as safe as shipping something UPS/DHL/UPS overnight in a larger box. Why? Let me explain...I work for a computer parts company that ships hundreds of PC's, monitors, printers, and service parts every day. About 35000 per month actually. About 2% of those large packages arrive broken even though they are packeged in superior, top notch foam packing, in double ply boxes. The reason why is that these packages are not handled much by humans (because the dimensions of the box mark them as heavy, even if the box is not. this is called DIM Weight)...they are moved along conveyors at transit hubs etc and often can fall off. They are also palletized, and can be moved(and punctured) by forklifts etc. Also, they can happen to be the bottom box in a tall stack of heavy boxes, and get crushed his way. With sensitive parts...we often opt to use a smaller, clamshell type boxs, with some foam inserts, as the boxes are genrally handled better. With small boxes...such as the type you would use for a book, they are handled almost exclusively by hand, and almost never experiance "tramatic" damage. Its a fact, I have been doing this a very long time. Marking packages as Fragile, or Live animals, really does not do alot of good depending on which hubs the package is traveling through. The only real neagtive to this type of box is that the smaller boxes lack insulation (temperature control), which is something that can be dealt with by shipping in the right time of year, or if you are located in the south, and are shipping to a southern address ( and you watch the weather channel).
Here is an example of how I place a box into an envelope....and again I NEVER PLACED A DELI CUP INTO AN ENVELOPE LIKE SOME OF YOU SAID.
First the neonate is placed into a deli cup filled to the rim with shavings. Then the deli cup is taped so that the holes are not covered.
This is a Capri Sun box that I frequently use. I line it with styrofoam and then it is placed into a envelope with a heat pad. I use this method for two deli cups when sent to a cooler region. Now the box I sent Chausies was smaller because only one small neonate was sent. I did not insulated it ( but it did have a heat pack) because it was going to a warm climate (Gainesville, Florida) it was not neccessary. I also checked the temps before shipping :

As you can see the deli cup has no room to be moved or jostled around. I find when shipping this aspect is the most important part. Snakes that are sent in large boxes yet the deli cup is not filled or it can be bounced around in the box is a horrble stress on the snake. Undfortunately nost people ship with a deli cup unfilled or half filled and then its placed in a big box that does not support the deli cup.
The envelpoe is used because it makes the packaging appear neat and professional while using a stonger box. The reason I use certain boxes (like the Capri sun box) because it is sturdy and strong enough to stand on.
Here is how it looks when a box is placed into the envelope:

Another reason for shipping in a smaller box is the way it is handled. Hence this post explains that:
I also use different boxes for different size snakes. Here is another way I ship larger adult snakes. Again very snug and secure:
the box is insulated and I use peanuts for cushioning.

Snake is placed in a bag with paper towels (in this case an adult hypo brooksi) tied and taped:

Heat pack is added:

and covered with more peanuts:

then sealed:

While here is no excuse to break the law by shipping USPS. But how many of you break the law by not paying taxes on your snakes? How about collecting with the proper permits or licenses? Should these things be posted to here "protect" our rights in this hobby?
Does this give me an excuse for breaking the law? NO! But how many of you are seriously free of all guilt of breaking the law? Not one of you! Look at yourselves and see the plank in your own eyes before you try to pick out the speck in your brothers eye.
In a nutshell I have had nearly a 100% success rate shipping over 20 years and my animals arrived less stressed that anyone elses. How do i know this? Because I have received many shipments from herpers that were not properly packaged with the snake in mind. Many of you should learn my packaging methods and apply them. In all I am a very good guy and produce and ship my animals safer than anyone else. I have come across one person who ships snakes as well packaged and that is Don Soderberg. He has alo been shipping for a long time.
