Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Rainer Weishaupl shipping USPS

Maybe Frank Juarez is a friend who who did me a favor by shipped the box while I was away during the Christmas holiday.
Or Maybe I sold the snake for my brother-in-law Frank Juarez?
Or Maybe its a business partner?
Or Maybe the snake belonged to a neihbors who I advertised the snake for?
Or Maybe I sold the snake for my 16 year old stepson "Franky" Juarez?

Whatever the reason. Its not good enough for the people who have made personal attacks on me. AND Its NONE OF ANYONES BUSINESS! ITS PERSONAL AND I DON'T FEEL IT IS RELEVANT TO ANYTHING HERE. Besides whatever the reason it will just be laughed at and ridiculed and said to be a joke by this same ignorant crowd.

After experiencing the responses by this "core community" on this site I really have second thoughts about ever sharing anything here again. It is out of control. Completely unjust. And there is no rule or system set down to prove or disprove anything. Just the fact that someone has a some rep power and then states something, then it is accepted AND APPEARS as fact by others. So everyone jumps on the band wagon like a bunch of dogs in heat after they THINK first blood was drawn". Yet you guys have a pack mentality and for that reason public linchings were made illegal. Now we have a different type of public linching. INTERNET LINCHING AND IT DOES THE SAME KIND OF DAMAGE TO ONES REPUTATION AND CHARACTER.

You could have nipped all of at the start by answering the questions asked (WHICH YOU ARE STILL AVOIDING TO HONESTLY ANSWER) and not try to excuse and rationalize your choice of shipping carrier. You honestly expect anyone to believe that someone who has been in the business for 20 years, as you have claimed, didn't know that shipping via USPS was illegal?

Now they are just people and not well known big time breeders? AGAIN I SAY HORSE CRAP!!

This ended up in his quote by mistake:

"How about if Rainer explains it? Seems like a legit question to me."

Seems legit to me as well, but I also get the impression that he does not want to discuss that here. It may be something of a personal nature. One can only guess. It really does not matter in the long run. He is done with shipping with USPS. He realizes it was a mistake, and I do not think he will be doing it anymore. I think that is the main concern of everyone here, so I think we can call an end to this thread. But, who am I to say.

Apparently Rainer has left the site but I see some of the recent posters are still around. This is some sort of a mini-poll. Has any of you (Ophis, Dand, and pch101) had a snake shipped recently that was bought or sold through the WWW? If so, what was the carrier of choice by either you the seller, or the person you bought from?

Thanks.

No. I had some Geckos shipped Fed Ex a few months ago and all of my snakes have been purchased in my area from either shows, breeders or retailers.

This was more of a question I was asking to myself as far as record keeping (and somehow related to this thread). We switched to FedEx recently also, as UPS got unusually strict in town with the shipping of snakes. How long do you guys keep a tracking number (in case you need to make a claim)?

Thanks.

I'll play the game too. :)

Let's see.... what I can remember...

I've received exactly three shipments via USPS (two unbeknownst to me until it was too late to stop it, one completely with my knowledge which I've already mentioned in this thread).

I've received from UPS, FedEx, and Airborne at my current location. Airborne is the only one that would get deliveries to my house before 3 pm. (I live very rural).

I've sent one package of snakes out, to an individual in Tennessee, via UPS... box marked "Live harmless reptiles" and "Lampropeltis Getula Goini".

I'm currently planning on sending FOUR lizards through USPS. I won't even put their species name on the box (Lizardus Ty-Beanie-us). :D

Just a of couple of quick points

I have received several packages the last couple of months, well maybe a month ago from FedEx, UPS maybe six months. If I am not the shipper I do not think I have kept tracking info.

I think there is a big difference that should be considered here the difference between company policy and illegal.

If you sent a a harmless snake through a private company and it is marked correctly it maybe against company policy but not illegal. If you send any snake marked or not through the post office it is illegal.

Dennis,

We all know it is illegal to ship snakes USPS. We all know it is against company policy to ship through other carriers, and illegal if you don't label the package adequately (Lacey act). This was not the question. The question was: how long do you keep a tracking number? You answered that you don't keep it if you are not the shipper. Fine with me, I am just trying to answer one of the questions posed in this thread.

Regards.

Tracking numbers? I keep it until I am sure the animal has arrived.... or until the shipment I'm expecting has arrived satisfactorily... if it doesn't arrive satisfactorily, I'll post it to the BOI... and keep it forever.

When I was a shipping clerk, my company kept old tracking receipts seemingly forever. I know they had at least the last four years of UPS tracking receipts. (On average I shipped 30 boxes a day... before UPS went all computerized).

I wouldn't see a reason to keep a tracking number beyond a succcessful completion to the transaction.

I humbly disagree.

Rainer said he could not ship USPS or FedEx in his area. It is not against the national company policy to ship with them. With FedEx it is relatively easy to set-up.

The rest of this post is not directly in response to your post but to the entire thread in general.

If I am not mistaken
He said he could not do it legally with any shipper, this is incorrect. He said he opted to do it with the post office because it cost less and package would not be tossed around as much. It is the only illegal choice.

So either for some reason it is really hard to set-up the account (could be) in his area or he just has not tried to because he likes the way he is doing it.

You know, when it comes to venomous all of us seem unified on the correct way things should be done. With everything else it really does not seem to matter to most (not saying you particularly) and tell you what I really did not think about it much in the beginning, until I read several of Wes's posts on this board and another that really hit home about the future of the hobby and how our rights as a whole would be lost. I agree and think we should police ourselves so maybe our rights might not be taken away.

If truly no one cares, then so be it.
I am not the sort of person who enjoys attacking people for no good reason.
I enjoy this hobby and all the people I have associations with in it. I just do not want my rights or yours taken away are nibbled away piece by piece because of these issues. Can't we all agree on that?

Completely unjust? I don't comment much on the drama threads but your post prompted me to. Yes, there are plenty of people here on the BOI that will nail you if you are doing things wrong. It's not completely unjust. You're committing a federal crime. End of story. The only people thrown to the wolves are those committing illegal acts, ripping people off and telling lies left and right. You've already been caught doing something illegal and your attitude about anyone questioning that decision is very aggressive. On top of this, there's a name other than your own being used on your packages and your efuse to answer a simple question as to whose name it is. This also points to something fishy going on. I don't participate in these threads usually, but the same thing seems to happen over and over. The guy in question refuses to answer questions and rants about being attacked and he always turns out to be a lying scumbag. Not saying this is the case here, just has been in the past.

In regards to your previous question, I do actually pay taxes on my animals and follow all the local laws. It's not very hard to do. I got verified with Delta and it's a very simple process. Do the right thing and take the time to set things up legally.

Over the past few months I've shipped out two boxes via Delta, received one via Delta and one via FedEx. All were correctly marked according to contents.

You know guys, I think rainier may have a point.

I do NOT think that everything he has said is EXACTLY the truth, it is hard to believe that anyone who has anything to do with hots does not know about shipping them but, maybe he's right.

I've known of him for at least two years and in that time I have never heard anything bad about his animals.

So, here's what I think.

Let this one go. If he's telling the truth and does not use USPS again, all is well. If he's telling the truth and recieves no more hots through USPS, all is well. If he, as he insists, is just a guy who made a mistake in dealing with mikey at all, and he doesn't do it again, all is well.

I think we should give him a chance. Just one.

rainier, no more false names on boxes, no more USPS, no more nonsense about now knowing the legalities involved in keeping the reptiles you use.

Should he fail in any of these things, then it's open season on rainier.

Until then, let's just wait and see.

I've tried to keep up with all the posts on this thread but there has been so much going on the last few days I may have missed something important. If I did, someone bring it to my attention and we'll deal with it then.

Please disregard my above post, it really doesn't make much sense.

No it doesn't make any sense but it makes my point good on how you are all dragging my name through the mud all while calling names and making things up..

and this is what I mean about this place being a double edge sword. Meaning any know nothing can post such drivel as he/she sees fit and even the most base of rumors can become a matter of debate amongst serious herpetoculturists in their effort to get at the truth of the matter. In light of that 2 sides need to be presented so that interested parties can determine the truth as it makes sense to them.

1) I don't keep or ship HOTS (venomous) never have and never will. To many other nice stuff out there without the danger.

2)Its hard enough to to extract the truth behind the origins of these posts unless one goes back and studies the posts. Unfortunately their are certain individuals clouding the issues for whatever personal gain.

3) These certain individuals that have posted here need a "power wash" to bring this site to what it can be.

Ophis, DAND you're incredibly FOS and you know it.

Best Wishes

Rainer

As I said, my mistake. I got distracted mid post and messed up.

Rainier has NEVER to my knowledge shipped venomous in any way, legal or otherwise.

What I was trying to say, in the part that dealt with you rainier, is that I thought it was now time to lay off and give you a chance to sink or swim. I think you are more likely to sink than swim myself.

You are not the most pleasant of people, hello pot this is kettle, but I don't think you're a bad guy.

Again, sorry for the mix up with you and dan scalero.

Dennis,

Rainer said he could not ship USPS or FedEx in his area. It is not against the national company policy to ship with them. With FedEx it is relatively easy to set-up.

Alright, alright, I should’ve also spelled out that if you are a verified shipper with FedEx you are in good shape. Good point.

Now going back to the topic at hand. In all honesty I usually try to keep an open mind (not that it’s always accomplished anyways). But answering the way Rainer did doesn’t help his case at all:

The question is why was his name was on the box?
Maybe Frank Juarez is a friend who who did me a favor by shipped the box while I was away during the Christmas holiday.
Or Maybe I sold the snake for my brother-in-law Frank Juarez?
Or Maybe its a business partner?
Or Maybe the snake belonged to a neihbors who I advertised the snake for?
Or Maybe I sold the snake for my 16 year old stepson "Franky" Juarez?

Rainer, don’t take this as a personal attack on you. In reality it has very little to do with you and I’m using your case just as an example. What I’m trying to demonstrate here is something else here that most people might have missed. If I fail to prove the point I want to make I’ll drop the whole issue.

Rainer shipped snakes USPS, a big no-no. He said that was wrong, that he you should have known better, and will never do it again. Good approach! Then stated he did it because of the cost of shipping compared to the value of the snakes. Although it doesn’t justify breaking the law, at least he was upfront with his reasons. But then he states that is no-one business why he used a different name (maybe a return address also?) in his packages.
Why would someone do something like that? To maintain his privacy?, I highly doubt it.
How many of the participants in this thread would have a problem in providing his personal information (real name, phone #, and address)? Dennis, Sasheeena, Joe, Wes? If I provided mine (big deal, it’s in the public records anyways!) and I asked each of you to send me your complete contact information would you do it. Would you invoke “privacy” instead?

Thanks.

If the hounds of the BOI were after me, twisting everything, I might be less than cooperative. Heck, if I didn't know Rainer via several year's transactions and interaction online, I might have been asking a few of these questions also! Hard to say.

But I have no problem providing my contact information.

Man, last night was a rough one. In the line above I meant that I think you are more likely to SWIM than sink, again my appologies.

Any of you that have teenagers who don't always "get along" so well will know just what I was having fun with last night while I was trying to write here.
