In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Rare Monitors up for Adoption

Wow.....he can't afford to have a necropsy done, but I'm SURE he can afford to care for them properly.

Does anyone else find it odd that this guy's screen name is Billy, it says underneath that his name is Bob, and he signs his note Rob? I still think the whole thing reeks of yesterday's cat food.

Bail money....heh heh, that's just TOO funny.

we should stop ragging on bob. Even though, he kinda did the same to me. There is no need to argue about this. I hope your 1.1 emeralds do well, despite your busy job.

Unfortunately, Thomas carefully explained to me that he hasn't the money at the moment to have such a necropsy done on the animal.

Well that's just pathetic. I had one done on a parakeet that died suddenly on me since it was the second in a months time. The results showed a fractured sternal keel. Turns out the female in the cage did not like company.

A necropsy is not that expensive considering the piece of mind it can give you.

I don’t frequent this forum that often but had to check out why an adoption thread had so many posts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes this thread is a hoax. Bored?

I just thought of something regarding this image...

Were the monitor all loose in that box in shipment???

Any proof of that? All I see proof of is a dead monitor.

One thing I see....the male and female Blues are apparently identical twins. Oh, wait....it's the same animal. You can match the patterns EXACTLY between the two photos. I'm just not bored enough to photoshop them to show everyone right now. LOL

I adjusted the photo Dennis was talking about to see the cages...

Sure looks like something a "dealer" would do... :ack2:

I'm confuzzled! :notallthe LOL I'm trying to determine if that's what they are living in.

At any rate, between this thread and the "biosphere" thread, I'm really just sick of people right now. :throwup02 This is excluding any intelligent people that frequent the forums! ;)

Nope.
Nope. Anyone who cared about their animals would not have sent them to this guy.

Yep...I agree. I still think this is "Sad but true".

Apparently Billy "Bob" wasn't reading the nonsense pouring out of Tom's mouth (fingers?). He was too caught up in the fact that a Baptist Minister's son had seen them in the wild once (so obviously knows what he's doing)...and a Minister's son MUST be a good person (which explains the jail time). After all, he's good with his hands and can build a plywood cage, so he's the perfect person. WAIT! We all forgot the golden rule...he called DIBS! What was I thinking?

Fishy...for sure. Have there been any thefts involving monitors recently? That's the only reason I can think of someone wanting to get rid of valuable animals so quickly. Maybe they're hot?

BTW....the rant above sure felt good!

i would take excellant care of your monitors...i have a 4 bedroom house with a reptile room, a fish room and a room for my african bush baby. i have had a giant savannah and a pretty hefty nile monitor and woul love to take on some more beautifull types of monitors...

Have you even read this thread?

A good friend who doesnt deal with internet forums asked me to respond.

He stated he would be interested in keeping them, he has currently 7 empty cages. This is also a guy with many many years experience and knowledge with reptiles and several monitors.
Personally Ive only seen a few people on either forum that meet or come close to his criteria for getting them, thats his choice to make though.
Insulting the guy wont get them to your doorstep any faster, amazing why are so many people acting this way over free monitors, my guess is because the cash value of these animals in resale. I dont have any interest in the tree monitors but I could point you to someone who has actually bred them sucessfully that would probably take great care of them. There was a similar thread (at least it started similar) a while back on another forum, that individual gave away a flavi-argus, he posted about it and recieved around 100 plus requests even offering to buy it or trade for it. I responded letting him know I was interested and he emailed me asking for a phone number and gave me his. Told me he was glad I replied because he new the flavi would go to a good home, he researched the responders posts, and found out all he needed to know about them. Anyone who asked for them as their first monitor has no clue how deep of a hole they are digging for themselves by wanting these animals.
Also another good friend who would fit this cricteria as being able to adopt them over 95% of the responders said he thinks its a joke, and cannot even begin to fathom why these expensive animals would be given away like this, after all they would sell pretty fast..
If its for real good luck on finding a good home, after reading the arguements here I hope he gets better choices to send them to.
Ill be the first to admit, right now I dont have enough open cages suitable to house these creatures properly, my cages are full of fast growing, healthy, monitors (even the baby ackies I hatched are moving into a bigger cage soon).
Have a nice day all.

If you would read the whole thread, Shawn, You would know he sent the monitors to the illiterate 21 year old with poor caging. The individual who yelled "dibs" like a 10 years old through the entire thread. One of the Emeralds died in transit (it looks to me like they were shipped loose in a box - surprised others didn't die if that was the case).

What we are victim of...

is, most likely, a new form of trolling. Look at the "Psych" experiment in the Leo forum. I believe these people do not care so much to sell, adopt, or care for the animals they claim to possess but rather intend to see just how riled up and disturbed they can get the victims...erm, I mean members...of a prospective forum then sit back, down a brew, munch popcorn and watch the fireworks show. It seems this one has already tried this on another forum. Possibly not realizing just how tight a community he's dabbling with.

I had decided to respond as I did after the stated "adoption" feeling that if he didn't get the emotional reaction he wanted, he would move on to other waters. It seems he has done so.

We need to stop feeding these emotional vampires. They require our emotive responses to get their twisted satisfaction and supply, perhaps, something lacking in their pathetic excuse for lives.

Just a little question before I step off my soap-box (darn it's lonely up here!) Did anyone bother to check the IP addresses of "kawtnuffin" and "vampgirl"? I'm wondering how interesting that would be...
