    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Ray Woodring (Rays Pythons) DOA bad shipper

I received 2 ball pythons from Ray Woodring. First was a 150g albino she shipped in a 12" x 9" x 7" box. She came to us alive but extremely cold the packing was pretty bad and had 2 heat packs floating around that were cold when she got here.

Second ball python we received from him was a 900g BEL (mojo x lesser) shipped in a 6" x 6" x 7" box. We were super excited to get this guy as he was beautiful in the pictures. Well unfortunately when Fedex got here, I was greeted with an awful smell!:ack2:

When I opened the box, first off there was no top foam piece, and all I could see was blood, and the smell was horrible. I sent him a message saying I was hoping that he didn't harm the snake while poking holes in the box. He laughed and said no I put them in before I packed the snake. then I went onto opening the box, blood and feces all over. The snake was so hot to the touch, and the heat pack was on the very bottom. He then preceded to tell me he was going to contact SYR and Fedex. He had me send him pictures to send for insurance reasons. Well SYR wasn't covering it because of the heat pack, and the shipping temps where hes located in NJ were to high.

He continued to say he was going to make it right and get us our money back, but kept pushing it on SYR and Fedex. I then find out another snake he sent the same day showed up DOA as well with the same shipping conditions and outcome. The guy that purchased that one ended up getting his money back under 200 for that snake.

A few weeks later he says he will have the money by the weekend. I never received the money and he never bothered to contact me. He also deleted his "Rays Pythons" profile.

I now am having to go though my card holder and file a dispute, all because this guy stiffed me for $700 on a Snake he killed in shipment. :angry:

Wow I don't really know what to say about that one. I feel bad for the animal having to be shipped like that. I hope he makes this right but I'm glad you shared. I will definitely be staying away from him.

it's been a month since we received the snake and he quit replying and deleted his business page... so i don't see him even trying to make it right anymore.....
 
What the ?? Freaking despicable what that poor snake went through!

Please provide more info on this seller and the transaction. (I've never heard of the guy.) When did your transaction take place? Address, email addy, phone etc. of this seller will also help ID him on other sites he may want to sell on as well as here. Is he a member here?

I am disgusted by this and he should be making this right, no doubt about that. I do however have a problem with the statement above though, did SYR tell you the temps were too high? I'm in NY and go to NJ on a regular basis and we didn't start getting steady temps above 50 till about 3-4 weeks ago so I don't get how the temps would have been too high.
 
First of all, that box was waaay too small for a snake that size...you gotta have some buffer room between heat packs and the animal...that is just way to close proximity...

You can tell that animal suffered until it died in transit. How awful...
 
Those pics just rip my heart out... :( That poor snake. How can someone ship an animal of that size in a box that small, and expect it to be fine? And he did the same to other people? I hope you get your money back... this is very disturbing.
 
So he sent a 150g snake in a bigger box than he did for a 900g snake??

It does indeed look like the poor guy suffered. My condolences. I hope something good comes from this.

Likely an excuse on the seller's part. SYR wouldn't have covered it anyways unless it was late, and the animal was DOA - provided the seller had actually purchased their insurance, which I doubt he did.

Poor snake. What an awful, tortuous way to die.

OP, make sure you contact SYR yourself about this seller. They are pretty good about standing up for proper shipping and will likely pull this guy's account so he can never use them to ship again.

That is an amazing looking snake, I hate that it arrived DOA for you. My first thought when looking at that first photo is the same. That box size is way to small for that Ball. I hate that it suffered like that it's just unspeakable that someone would do that.

I hope Paypal or your CC can do something for you since the guy left you hanging. I agree show SYR and talk to them. I'd also show ReptileExpress as well incase he tries to get an account there (or already has one) and goes to them because he gets blocked from SYR. I be he isn't even talking to ether company. Thank you for showing this, I've been looking into getting some Balls and now I know this is someone I won't go near even if I have a 10ft pole.
 
What a truly terrible way to die. This seller has no business shipping animals, period.

I hope your bank/cc company can help you out.

I agree. Not only should he not be fishing around for excuses and putting this on others, but he has a direct responsibility to his buyer. He needs to refund the buyer and then he can go to third parties himself, not that it would do him any good.

How did you learn that another snake he shipped that same day arrived the same way?

This guy needs to be ousted from our hobby for killing that snake :angry:. I knew he was bad news when i outbid him on a auction on facebook and he proceeded to threaten me because he lost by a second.
 
Ray threatened me with physical violence as well when I disagreed with him. He is a bit intense. This is a sad situation indeed. I don't know all the details about the second person and their snake...but I do remember conversations about it when this was all coming out on Facebook. I am sure the OP can fill us in better.
