In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

raymond melrose bad guy

Anyone else find it suspicious that the emails Brandon "deleted out of anger" were the ones that showed that he was the only one that ever considered the snake sold?

Hate to sound harsh but snooze you loose...wake up earlier next time. To me, this seems like misuse of the BOI.

Also, Brandon is the one that stated that he's paypal the money tomorrow. I'm still looking to see where Raymond ever agreed that payment tomorrow was ok.

You know what they say about people who assume, right?

I don't think either person is a "bad guy". It is impossible to tell from the emails between the two if Brandon was truely going to purchase the animal or just another window shopper. Most of us that do this as more than a hobby know that we get a ton of emails where the buyer says "its sold" only to never deliver the funds. Brandon felt it was sold because he knows that he was going to follow through, sadly there was no way for Raymond to know this for sure. Brandon should have relaxed and taken the "olive branch" that Raymond offered or just chalked it up to a missed opportunity.

Whenever I buy online and have to wait for payment for whatever reason I always get a confirmation from the seller that this is acceptable.

Raymond, at this point it sure looks like Brandon assumed facts not in evidence. Unless there is more from Brandon to prove his assertions and disprove yours, I'll have to say you were in no way wrong to sell the snake to your local buyer. It sure doesn't seem that you commited to anything.

Brandon, are you sure you deleted those emails? Did you check your sent and draft files? And if you have anything that was a reply you should check your inbox too. If Raymond never stated in plain english, or wrote it out in an email, then there was never any seal on this deal.

As has been stated here by myself and several others, if you were told it was yours or sold or a done deal or something along those lines, then the snake should have been yours. If you just said you would paypal in the morning then there was no commitment on the sellers end. And if that is the case, then this thread is in error.

At this point if you cannot prove that Raymond said one of the above or something very similar, I think you owe him an appology.
It looks like he does have some very pretty snakes, my previous offer of mediation stands if you want to try to work something out with a third party go-between.

Raymond,

If you actually didn't tell Brandon that the snake was his, as he says that you did, and there were no funds transfered to your account, then there was no ethical fallacy committed by you, in my estimation. However, I think I would have gone back to Brandon with your new offer to see if he wanted to beat it or pass on the deal. It seems to me that such a courtesy might have eliminated all of this.

We're all always learning though . . .

was out of town for a few, sorry.
first off, I guess I assumed (obviously). my bad. sorry. why was I asked for shipping information and given an email address to paypal money to? I took that as 'it's yours'. I feel a lot of people would too, but that's just my opinion. if there was a sale pending on the animal, should I not have been informed of that?
the origional email was sent from kingsnake.com. the 2nd was from him to me, 3rd me to him. I don't keep drafts and like I said, I deleted my emails with him once I was informed that the snake that made my heart jump was not to be mine because I was beyond f**king pissed off. I'm still 'bent' over this. I still feel like I was wronged. once again, thanks for everyones opinions, including you Raymond. one of my lessons learned here, keep impulse boa buying funds in my bank account at all times so I don't need to go to the bank in the morning to make a deposit, and ever deal with such bulls**t again. that is all.

cheers

Brandon,

You wrote in your last post, saying, "first off, I guess I assumed (obviously). my bad. sorry. why was I asked for shipping information and given an email address to paypal money to? I took that as 'it's yours'."

However, you previously wrote, in response to direct questions as to why you thought a deal had been struck, "I had emailed Raymond saying I would buy it. He said, great, it's yours, and gave me his email address to paypal $$ to him. "

You have to admit; those are really quite different. Had you stated what you did in that first quotation, when you first posted, some of the confusion here might been abated.

Even so, there is one spect of your last post with which I wholeheartedly agree. You wrote, "if there was a sale pending on the animal, should I not have been informed of that?" ABSOLUTELY! In my opinion, professional courtesy would demand such communication. That is why, when I say, "No money, no deal," it is important to let the "interested window gazer/possible buyer" know when a competing offer has been made. As is so very often the case here on the BOI, a little honest communication covers a whole host of misunderstandings, suspicions, and hurt feelings.

Raymond did NOT say 'great, it's yours', I apologize fully for that comment. I did not intend to put words into his e-mouth. I deleted those emails like I said. I did not have those emails to refer back to until Raymond posted them here for us, and I do thank him for that. I should have kept them and not deleted them in anger, for I would have worded my statements better, or more accurately. 'great, it's yours' was my interpretation, and I was wrong. I put that together from being given an email address to paypal funds to, and asked for a shipping address for the snake. It was late at night when we first conversed, and that was my recollection the following day. Why would I have been given and asked such information? I don't know. I feel I should have been informed RIGHT AWAY of a PENDING sale and not led to believe the snake was mine for a night. This scenario would never have been had that been the case.

It's just my opinion, that there is no sale pending here. The other local guy could also told Raymond that he'll show up at his house first thing tomorrow morning with cash. Just as same as Brian told Raymond that he'll deposit the money tomorrow and paypal him. Raymond did not make any comittment to either party, since he doesn't know if either one is serious. Raymond was courtesy to offer another snake to Brian, maybe as not pretty as the first one, but still a great looking snake. No need to use profanity, and come here to post bad guy on him. I am glad that Raymond know about this post, and can come here to defend himself. Otherwise, with those excuse that email deleted by anger, and with the accuse that Raymond said, "Great, snake is yours," without any proof, another good guy get framed. Also, how convenience when Brian posted bad guy about Raymond, but don't want to notify him, and that he just deleted the email that Raymond said "Great, snake is yours," but not the last email.
