Careful with that axe...
What about the second fine? Does that stand too?
WebSlave said:, and regardless of whether Steven ignored, forgot, didn't notice, or thought that his joke was not a violation, it WAS a violation after all. .
WebSlave said:, My reasons for this are that I did draw the line in the sand.

nicolai said:Heres an Idea, Put StevesReinstatement up on fauna Fund Auction. You will see just how people feel about this. I bet he not only gets reinstated but enough is raised to move him toa higher level, maybe even endowment level. But instead of people bidding against each other let it be a fauna fund raiser where everyone can put in what they want for Steves reinstatement. This would be a fair resilution to this problem and you would get your money from the fine, Steve would get re-instated, you get extra money to help the site, and nobody loses anything, how can you go wrong?
lucille said:My two cents: It has sort of a surface appeal to it; but think: the next time someone gets a fine it will be on the Fund, and I will be overwhelmed with coping with Fauna politics from everyone who wants to buy off his sentence.
Jim O said:While the idea of having auctions might be appealing I believe that the reason for the fine and for insisting that a person pay their own is that Fauna should be for people who see value in it. If everytime someone runs their mouth they get a free pass because their so called friends want them back then what has been accomplished?
nicolai said:The whole issue here is the "no Name Calling" rule that he supposedly broke. Does anybody that read the entire thread actually think that he broke that rule rather then just making a joke on a dicussion forum to lighten things up???
shrap said:Actually what triggered the fines and suspensions had nothing to do with name calling.
.
Dan is a bad name to have in the leopard gecko business....
Nothing at all could stop anyone from sending anyone money. But Rich can insist that monies sent via PayPal come from the e-mail address of record for a particular User ID. This would at least force the suspended individual to go through the process of sending the money. Again, I don't think the amount is a deterrent. The person has to want to come back.nicolai said:Whats to stop thier friends from paypaling them the money to get reinstated, or paying rich in thier name without his knowledge
Yes there are indeed. Let's not make it easier. *Most* of the time we can all agree that fines and suspensions are well deserved. Let the person involved pay it from their account, whether it is financed by someone else or not. If Rich makes an exception for Steve, then that opens the door for everyone else.nicolai said:There are many ways around the fines
Monte said:My heaven's - it's a whole $10.00.
If somebody doesn't want to pay a $10.00 fine - then it smells like it's more of a case of pride, than anything else.
IF you want to sand on principle - or hurt feelings - or whatever - for 10 bucks - more power to ya.
It's 10 bucks, people.

WebSlave said:OK, an honest mistake on your part, but no the suspension has NOT been lifted at all. It is not lifted until you pay your fine.
Or does anyone else feel my suspension in this particular case was out of line, under the circumstances?
nicolai said:He got fined 10.00 for the joke about "DANS" in the leopard gecko business, then he got fined 20.00 for posting a reply about without realizing he couldnt do it before he paid the first fine. When he logged on to fauna hit avatar didnt say "suspended fine owed" anymore and he thought rich had waived his fine so he posted on the BOI and got fined again.
so 10.00 + 20.00 = 30.00.
So in my opinion he got fined twice for nothing. once for a joke he made and once for posting when he thought his suspension had been lifted, wouldnt you think yours had been lifted as well if it didnt say "suspended fine owed" anymore. Why would he think otherwise. Can you see the logic in all this.
How is this whole episode going to do fauna any good in the long run, it has left a bitter taste in the mouths of a lot of people already.
People are going to be afraid to joke about anything in the forums, a place that is supposed to be lighthearted and amusing where people can go to talk about reptiles and enjoy themselves.
Webslave even said it was an honest mistake he made by poting on the BOI., but the 20.00 second fine is still there??And if he was so sure that it wasnt a joke why would he ask for opinions. This whole thing is in the "grey" zone. I am begining to think that someone wants to prove that people will pay the fine to come back no matter what the reasoning for it was. I know i probably would because i like the site and spend a lot of time here.
