I have about two years or so experience with snakes... and if I even suspected one of my snakes to be sick I would be on the phone with the vet immediately to see if I could bring it in to be checked out. It's called common sense and caring about the animals under your care.
Are you kidding me??? All of this talk I see you do all of the time and you only have 2 years experience. Dude you my friend are pretty much no buddy. How can you preach so much about something that now I know you have not had that much experence with. 2 years experence in anything in life makes you still inexperenced at it. So yes of course you would be on the phone with your vet at the sign that your snake moved the wrong way. Give me a break man. Dont preach to me anymore. You have been offitally ignored. 2 years ha ha ha.
Not so nice to be picked back on is it. I did not mean all of that. I was just trying to prove a point. It is not nice to pick on people or say bad things about things you know nothing about was the point I was trying to make. I know nothing about how much experence you have. Just like you know nothing of me and the half of my life I have devoted to reptiles. I do not think you have much right preaching with such short amount of experence to anyone. But I will also say that I am sure in those first 2 years you have learned a lot. I am glad to know that people are still joining this hobby/industry everyday.
Kelli, I didn't take Judy's post the way you did. I didn't think she was questioning your husbandry but was commenting on her opinion of Josh's husbandry and kind of quoting you in doing so.
Josh has mad his own bed here and is taking some heat for things that he probably shouldn't be as a result.
You are absolutely right. I am taking alot of heat for things that I probably shouldn't be. I have presented myself wrong with all of this I know this now. But I also know that what I speak is the truth none the less. A
if the Goldust Motley did have that cyro disease where might it of came from
"ReptileDoc" B. all of the snakes for here ages were way undersized. Whos fault is that
"ReptileDoc". I do believe that the documents I have shown show atleast that much that they arrived small and undersized for there so called ages. If they were all early 2010's then I could see them being so small. If this was the case then
"ReptileDoc" is at fault for lying to me about the broad 5-9 month ages he gave me.
C. The one that died in transit as others have pointed out that it takes alot for a snake to die in transit. In a box with 9 other snakes why would just the one have died because of
"ReptileDoc". D. If the Lavender Motley (which let me say again is still alive) does have some kind of internal parisite that is taking some of its food where may that parasite have come from
"ReptileDoc". These are just a few reasons of many that the problems I have had over the last 6 months with these snakes are because
"ReptileDoc"
Kelli, I have a great deal of respect for you and all the experience you bring to the board. I just don't always understand your comments, I guess. I was NOT taking any cheap shots at you, or even your opinion. I just meant to point out that it seemed a completely irrelevant comment to make.
The guy had what he describes as a VERY sick snake (more than one, in fact)....but he made a conscious decision to NOT seek professional medical attention for them because he didn't really care about them. (His words, not mine)
That's not something that should be explained away as simply "lack of experience" on his part. (My opinion, of course!

)
The only snake in question that was knowingly sick was the Goldust Motley. He was the only one that showed signs of being sick. God I wish you people would keep up with things. All of the snakes were just undersized and one still is (Lavender Motley) in my opinion. I feed this animal just as I do all of my collection. Yet the one in the cage to the left of her's is 60g and was 15g when I got him with her. Then the one to the right of her is 40g that also came with the group of 10. As far as me not really caring about them is a really big stretch and I did not say that. I said that I have no emotional attachment to them. Why could this be. Maybe cause they are still in quaritine 6 months later. Could it be that I dont want to be emotionally attached to snakes that may in fact die on me like the other 4 have (one in shipment and 2 sense they arrived and 1 that I put down a couple of weeks ago cause it was just suffering and nothing could be done for it).
Name two.
I'm betting you can't. The reason being is that there are no large breeders of corn snakes out there that would support that statement. All of the larger breeders offer food at very regular intervals (myself included). There is no other way to track and maintain a large number of babies. An 8 to 15 gram corn will simply not grow well on a schedule that feeds it every 9 or ten days. That is called maintenance feeding. Maintenance, by definition, means to maintain. Your feeding schedule is all over the board.
Not at all disparaging the fact that you are currently in a prolonged financially difficult period in your life, The simple math is that you do not have the capability to feed and care for your animals properly at the moment. Your other statements support the fact that this does not bother you a whole heck of a lot
And incidentally, a month without food for an animal that size is more than enough time to cause irreparable damage. When their digestive tracts have been empty for that length of time, the next meal, if not far smaller than usual, has an excellent chance of resulting in a gurge.
Josh, regardless of any input from the seller, you have pretty much demonstrated, by your own posts, that the animals are not a particularly high priority for you. Take it as bashing if you will but the only damaged reputation in this thread belongs to you.
Do yourself and your animals a favor. Cut your numbers to something you are capable of maintaining properly. You can always rebuild later if you wish. Personally, after reading all your self righteous and indignant posts, I tend to agree with those that stated you might look for a hobby where lack of attention to detail does not result in the deaths of innocent animals.
Sorry but I can not think of any names at this time. Once again I do not need to. Kelli has also said how she knows that be breeders do this as well as zoo's. Besides whether someone does feed the way that I do or not do not matter. What matters is in the wild no snake its on a routine schedule. That is what matters. I am feeding them the way that I do to keep them on a more natural track. I also am not a commercial breeder trying to get my animals as big as fast as possible to produces sooner and more quanity for me.
I am also capable of maintaining 10times as much as I have. I will once again post a screen pic of my food inventory. For the 57 snakes that I have I have enough food to last quite some time until I can find a suitable job.
