In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Reptiles Express, snake shipping suspended

When it's a large company lying to its customers and in turn those customers are violating UPS policy because they're taking them by their word I find that much, much worse. An individual choosing to violate their own agreement is much different then a company violating their own agreement and taking their customers with them.

Most of us weren't aware that FedEx specifically meant business zoning and home businesses didn't count (I certainly didn't). My rep never said a dang thing about it all these years. :ack2:

I was referring to people who ship UPS on their own, not people who believe they are doing right because of a middle-man such as SYR or RE. I agree that it is wrong if a company (SYR/RE) is saying it is okay when in reality it isn't - but that hasn't been the case with RE as far as we know.

My point was that if you post an ad in the classifieds stating you ship snakes UPS, you will have people bashing you for this. However if you post claiming to ship FedEx overnight to your door, no one will say a word although it is just as against the original company's TOS as the other. Does that make sense?

My Fedex rep told me that shipping to a home business was acceptable.... And I just needed to put the business name under the addressee..... I have never had an issue

That's fine, but how many people do you ship to actually have a home business license? I personally don't think it matters - just being devil's advocate here

Do you realize how many business that make this country run that are not in a zoned business district?

You can be a business without zoning - get a license. You aren't recognized as a business without a license, am I incorrect? What would be the point of getting a license if you don't need one to be considered a business? :shrug01:

I have my DBA.... but Im not zoned. I file business taxes.... but Im not zoned.

Almost every small business started off in somone's home / garage until they could get large enough to afford the office space.

The internet company I used to work for started off in their living room and now they have their own warehouse and what they bring in per week would make your head spin.

Might want to check that again with someone above your rep. I thought that too for years before it was brought to my attention that a home business does not apply. Zoning is evidently what's important...Not business licenses or DBAs. :shrug01:

J. Company acknowledges that all shipments tendered to FedEx under this Agreement are for Business to Business delivery only. No residential deliveries are allowed under this agreement.

Residential Delivery = Residential Address

Good to know. Thanks for posting

I can't even get around it and I have two legal addresses here. This is legally a two unit and one floor we live in and the second I run my business out of. I'm not about to go through the drama of rezoning. Ick.

I think if RE gets this stuff straightened out with UPS we may be able to start bullying FedEx into changing policy because of competition with UPS. I was able to bully FedEx into lower rates after I pointed them to RE. :)

I hope they get this taken care of soon. I hate having to charge $10 more for shipments, and then not being able to ship direct to someone's door if necessary. Fed Ex may be great, but they are considerably more expensive, and not as flexible.

Interesting....I just got certified with FedEx and my sales rep has negotiated a rate that's less than SYR and RE. We ran the same size box, weight, zip code to zip code and I'm paying about $5 less than both of them.

Apparently... UPS is dragging their feet but RE is still allowed to ship snakes under their account and are in the process of removing the temporary ban from their site. They are just not providing the waiver with your shipping labels anymore.

You'd have to E-mail Debbie for the specifics.. that's just what was relayed to me. Not sure of the exact details butI think it has something to do with jealousy on the part of SYR and their waiver getting taken away so they are giving RE a hard time.

Please ask her to come and explain if she would.

I just got this reply from Debbie at RE stating that as of today, the owner has lifted the temporary ban on shipping live snakes through them but will no longer provide their waiver as previously stated in this thread.

Bill
SYR had a waiver to ship snakes which they lost in May of 09
We still have our waiver we did suspend snake shipping on a volunteer basis hoping to give UPS time to work out some of the problems they were having at the Hubs
As of 10/31/10 The owner has removed the suspension but we will not be handing out our waiver (which we were doing) as
this only complicated matters so not to confuse you we still authorize to ship NON venomous reptiles including snakes but we have to advice our customers that we will not hand out our waiver.
You can call me and I personally will help if you have a issue at the Hub

Ummm if the temp ban was removed.... then why not provide the waiver with the label?

Hello Kevin,
First let me say it was not a temporary ban we volunteered to suspend shipping because our customers were experiencing problems at the hubs
There has been some resistance to accepting the waivers at some of the UPS facilities. This has resulted in confusion, delays, etc,
Bottom line the waiver did not seem to help.I received better results when I handled the problems directly, this is why we are not going to provide it at this time.

We are trying to allow UPS time to work these issues out and in turn trying to work out a solution so we would not longer require a waiver ( individual account numbers for all our customers were one of the items talked about)
In order to preserve our ability to ship snakes going forward it's important that we help UPS work through these issues as calmly and smoothly as possible.
Hope this answers any questions and as soon as we have an update someone will post it
Thanks Again to all our customers and there understanding in this matter
